31 December 2018

There must be a bus due
Someone is waiting at the bus stop when Colin leaves the chip shop flat;  he asks Dani if she has left anything in the supermarket,
"Will you be there tonight?"
and she replies, “It’s for the buffet tonight – will you be there?”
"Britt thinks everyone is talking about her"
Colin points out that Britt feels ashamed after last week;  “She thinks the world and his wife are talking about her.”   Dani will get Garry to have a word with her, although Colin feels it is not a good idea, predicting she might become paranoid.
"Garry can be subtle – sometimes!"
“Garry can be subtle, you know – sometimes,” Dani points out.
Brenda complains about her Pina Colada
Inside the Deri, Garry serves Brenda with a Pina Colada, but she complains, “There’s no fresh pineapple!”   He apologises that they are out of fresh pineapples today.
"Drinks are free of charge as it's New Year’s Eve!"
“I shouldn’t complain – the drinks are free of charge – as it’s New Year’s Eve!” she goes on,
"I don't work here for the good of my health!"
but Garry informs her he does not work on New Year’s Eve for the sake of his health, and it will be £5.90.
“It’s usually £6.00, but you get a discount, because there’s no pineapple” he says, but then she raises the subject of a ramp for wheelchairs,
Then she plays the disability access card
and maintains it is a risk for disabled people to use the toilet.   He gives up trying to extract any money from her.
Dani comes in with enough to feed the 5,000, and hopes that someone will turn up to eat it;
"He wants to talk to you about solar panels"
Garry draws her attention to the fact that a Mr Hitchings has been waiting for half an hour, and wants to discuss solar panels with her.   She had forgotten he was coming today, and
"Solar Panels cost a fortune!"
Garry angrily points out, “Solar panels cost a fortune, Dan!” but she insists there is a sale on, and that she will pay in any case.
"Britt doesn't want to leave the house"
Then she tells him that Britt is not well;  “She doesn’t want to leave the house, Garry,”
"I'll go and see her"
and he agrees to go across to see her.
"Dropped your phone down the toilet, have you?"
Gwyneth catches up with DJ in the street;  “Don’t tell me – you’ve lost my number, or your phone has fallen down the toilet!”   He replies that he has been helping his father to move furniture, but she accuses him of lying.
"Friends have invited me to Swansea tonight"
“Would you like to come to the Deri to celebrate New Year’s Eve?” she asks;  he says that a few friends have invited him to Swansea tonight, and he does not have time for a drink before he goes.
Gwyneth does not like being stood up
Gwyneth looks rather angry.
Aaron converses with S666 . . .
Aaron is continuing his online conversation with S666;  “Rubbish Christmas.   Mam’s behaviour is crazy,” he types.
. . . who offers him some advice
The reply is, “Sorry to hear that.   Dad’s a loser.   I can always make him feel guilty enough to buy me amazing presents!   Guilt is good!”
"Where's your Mam?"
Garry arrives, looking for Aaron’s mother, but she is still in bed;  she comes out of the bedroom and sits on the sofa.
Now she is a hypochondriac
Garry asks Aaron to make them a coffee, but Britt insists she needs weak tea;  “I’m having palpitations!” she whimpers.
"When was the last time you got some fresh air?"
Garry enquires when was the last time she got some fresh air, but she argues, “I’m not going out with people gossiping and laughing at me –
"The Joneses are not famous for their discretion"
“the Joneses know what happened – and they’re not famous for their discretion, are they?”   Garry is quite determined that she is coming to the New Year’s Eve party;  however, she is adamant she is not going to any party.
"The longer you lock yourself in, the harder it will be"
“The longer you lock yourself in here, the harder it will be!” he tells her.   Aaron has made them coffee, and says he is going to play with a new game which Gwern has been given.
"Come to the party, if only for an hour"
Garry continues, “All that matters is that you come to the party, even if it’s only for an hour.”
Colin arrives
Colin comes in and Garry tells him he was just confirming the plans for tonight, and then has to go.   Britt does not want to go to the party;
"You don't think about anyone but yourself, Mam!"
“You don’t think about anyone but yourself, do you, Mam?” snarls Aaron, “You spoiled Christmas, but you’re not going to spoil tonight!”
"Things are going to change"
She concedes that she has spoiled everything, but insists things are going to change;  “And I’m going to buy the game Gwern’s got, for you!
"I'll order that game for you"
“Write it down and I’ll order it for you.”
When she goes to have a shower,
"A bit of guilt works sometimes"
Aaron tells Colin, “A bit of guilt works sometimes,” but is informed that his mother always does her best, and he should not talk about her like that.
"Do you realise the damage you've done?"
Gwyneth goes to Penrhewl and complains bitterly to Eifion, “Do you realise the damage you’ve done?   He’s hardly talking to me!”
"You only wanted to win some cash and annoy Dai!"
He cannot believe that she thinks she could make DJ marry her.   “We were getting on well!” she rages, but he points out that she only wanted to win some cash and to annoy Dai.
"You've used people over the years!"
“You’ve used people over the years for your own ends – Cadno, Angela Sioned – all to hide the fact you’re gay!”   As he shouts at her to get out,
"The truth hurts, does it?"
she goes on, “The truth hurts, does it?”
Eifion gives his evaluation of her;  “You’re nothing but poison – that’s why everyone hates you!   It’s high time DJ saw the light as well!
"Just get out!"
“Don’t threaten me – just get out!” he yells, and pushes her out of the door.
Maes-y-Deri appears well-equipped with alcohol
There are plenty of bottles at Maes-y-Deri when Iori arrives rather early, and is accompanied by Brenda;
Kath is not happy to see who Iori has brought with him
he hopes they do not mind that he brought her as well.
She soon gets stuck into the food
She starts helping herself to the food, and Iori wonders where Mark and Ricky are.   Apparently they have gone to watch football in Llanelli.
"You didn't know it's fancy dress tonight?"
Debbie remarks on the fancy dress Brenda is wearing, and this gives her an idea;  “You didn’t know that it’s fancy dress in the Deri tonight, did you?
Al Capone backs her up
“Iori has come as Al Capone, and I’m his Moll!   The drinks are half price if you dress up.”
"We shall have to see what we can do"
Kath and Debbie immediately go to see what they can do,
"You're naughty!"
and Iori describes Brenda as, “Naughty!”
"What damage?"
Britt has a phone call, which she finds disturbing;  “Why do I have to pay for that cottage as well?” she asks, “We booked the exclusive . . . What damage?   Well, that’s not my fault!   Just send me a breakdown of the bill, and I’ll talk to my solicitor!”
"They've charged £2,400 to my card!"
Colin is also very disturbed, as she tells him, “The holiday cottage company charged £2,400 to my card – Neville and that gang he brought with him caused terrible damage –
"They only had my bank details"
“and they only had my bank details.”
Colin says that he will talk to the Joneses;  “The cottage they won was not the top notch cottage with food, Jacuzzi and that champagne.”
"It's my mistake – I'll pay for it!"
She urges him not to go on about it, admitting this is her mistake, and she is going to pay for it, then forget about the whole mess.
"What – £2,400?"
Colin wonders where she is going to find £2,400;
"I don't want anyone else to know about this!"
she replies, “I know you’re trying to help, but I don’t want anyone else to know about this – please?”
"You cancelled the order for plastic glasses!"
Garry is angry that Dani cancelled the order for plastic glasses,
Eco-conscious Dani explains why
but she protests that they have loads of glasses;  he urges her to discuss things with him first.
Ffion is given a warm welcome
Then Ffion comes in, and is welcomed by Dani;
"Arwen was missing her friends"
“Thailand was fab!   I could have stayed, but Arwen was missing her friends, and wanted to come home in case there was snow,” she says, “I feel better after having a break.
"Gethin wanted me to see him"
“Gethin contacted me, asking me to go and see him – as if I’d ever want to do that!”
"I never want to speak to him again!"
Dani is quite proud of the fact that the she has not spoken to him, and to be honest never wants to speak to him again.
"I can't believe Sheryl left the place to her!"
Seeing Gwyneth at the bar, Ffion asks, “How’s she doing at the salon?   I still can't believe Sheryl left the place to her.”
Dani replies, “She must have some hidden charms, because from what I hear, it’s her and DJ!”
Ffion is concerned about Gwyneth and DJ
Ffion cannot credit this, after everything she did to him, and at that moment he walks in,
"I didn't fancy Swansea in the end"
saying that he did not fancy Swansea in the end – or finding his way home in the rain in the early hours.   He will not accept a drink from her, and Gwyneth looks very downhearted.
Thelma and Louise
At Maes-y-Deri , Debbie and Kath have found suitable costumes, and are playing the parts of Thelma and Louise;  there is a knock at the door, and Colin comes in.
"I want a word with you about last week"
“I want a word with you all about last week,” he begins, “The Company has charged Britt for the cottage you were staying in.”   Debbie points so that Iori won the cottage in a raffle,
"You won the cottage next door – not the exclusive one"
but Colin elucidates that they won the cottage next door, not the exclusive one with the hot tub.
"That was a mistake by the company"
Iori stresses that this is a mistake by the company, but Colin reports, “Britt has had to fork out a lot for something she didn’t get - there’s the food and drink, and on top of that, she had a huge bill, because Neville and his gang damaged the other cottage.”
"You should be willing to make a contribution"
“I was thinking that, as you’re aware of the mistake, you should be willing to make a contribution.”
Brenda advises they do not have to pay a penny
Brenda is that the opinion that they do not have to pay a penny, as it was the company’s fault.   As he is about to leave,
"But if it becomes a legal matter  . . ."
Colin adds, “I apologise just in case, but if it becomes a legal matter . . .”
"I feel rather guilty about it"
Iori cannot help feeling rather guilty about it,
"It will be midnight before we get to the Deri!"
but Debbie points out, “You can feel guilty tomorrow, because if we don’t leave now, it will be midnight before we get there!”
Eifion gives Ffion a welcoming hug
Ffion is welcomed back by Eifion, and she says that half of her is still in Thailand, but is sure that in a couple of days she will come back down with a bang.
Gwyneth has her beady eye on them
“I had a bit of a shock to hear about those two,” she says, looking at DJ and Gwyneth, “Dani told me there was something going on.”
"She went out with him for a bet!"
Eifion answers, “There was something going on – she went out with him for a bet.   She said that she could get him to marry her within six months, and I bet her she couldn’t – but I’m too ashamed to tell him.”
Ffion finds this most unsatisfactory
Ffion is not at all happy about this.
"Are you on your way to the Young Farmers' dance?"
Thelma and Louise arrive at the bar, and Dani wonders if they are on their way to the Young Farmers’ dance;  Kath points out that they have made much more effort there anyone else there, so it should be half-price drinks for them.
They realise they have been conned
Dani informs her that they are not doing half-price drinks, and they realise that they have been tricked by Brenda and Iori.
“As you’ve had so much fun, Iori, it’s your round!” growls Kath.   Aaron comes in with his mother and Colin;  he says he is going upstairs to see Gwern.
"They're all looking at me, Col!"
Britt complains that everyone is looking at her, but Colin assures her that they are not, and she has not done anything wrong, anyway.
"Sorry you had to pay for the damage"
Kath apologises for the misunderstanding over the cottages – the fact she had to pay for the damage.
"Colin wasn't supposed to tell anybody"
“Colin wasn’t supposed to tell anybody,” Britt whines,
"It's only fair that we pay our share"
and Kath says that they have decided it is only fair that they pay their share.   This is reassuring news for Britt.
"You're paying – I don't have a penny!"
Kath mutters to Iori, “You’re paying, because I don’t have a penny!”
Gwyneth is getting increasingly anxious
Gwyneth is watching anxiously as DJ welcomes Ffion back.   He says that she looks well rested;  “We forget how much good break can do,”
"When you found that Gwyneth was behind it"
and she recalls that he went away after that business with Sioned – and finding out that Gwyneth was behind it.
"You've moved on very quickly!"
“I admire the way you’ve been able to forgive her,” she continues, and DJ says that he just wants to move on.   “You’ve moved on quickly to be in a relationship with her!” she adds, but he points out he is not in a relationship with her, and even if he was, it is none of Ffion’s business.
"She was going out with you for a bet!"
Just as Gwyneth comes towards them, Ffion raises her voice and says, “She was going out with you for a bet!   Sorry, DJ, it might not be any of my business, but . . .”
Gwyneth protests
Gwyneth tries to deny it, but DJ is outraged at the allegation;  “Tell him!” urges Ffion, “You bet you’d get him to marry you within six months!”
"It was a joke, DJ"
Gwyneth tries to dismiss it as a joke, insisting that she would not marry anyone for a bet.
"You tried to send me to prison for something I didn't do!"
“Says the woman who tried to send me to prison for something I didn’t do!” rages DJ, and Gwyneth immediately suspects Eifion of telling Ffion.
"Trying to marry him to win a bet?"
Brenda is very much enjoying being an onlooker here;  “She was trying to marry him to win a bet?”
"I never want to see you again!'
DJ warns Gwyneth that he never wants to see her again, and walks away.   Debbie applauds his attitude, and Gwyneth confronts her;
Gwyneth turns her venom on Debbie . . .
“Who are you to judge me?   I remember you putting drugs in Ricky’s bag!”
. . . then Ffion
Then she turns to Ffion;  “You’ve had affairs with half of Cwmderi – including two murderers!   Not to mention the years you were drunk at school!”
"Gwyneth – out!"
Garry has had enough of this, and orders Gwyneth out of his pub, but she has not finished yet;
Eifion is next in the firing line . . .
to Eifion she snarls, “And what about your love life?”   Garry himself is next in her sights;
. . . and finally, Garry
“You and Dani didn’t know who Seren’s father was initially!   You’re nothing but two-faced hypocrites, every one of you!”
Garry marches her out of the door, stressing that she is making a fool of herself.
"This is the best New Year's Eve I've ever had!"
Brenda declares that this is the best New Year’s Eve she has ever had.
She is seething with rage
Her face contorted with rage, Gwyneth stands outside the door of the Deri;  inside, Dani announces that it is nearly midnight, and they all count down to the New Year, as Gwyneth sobs uncontrollably.
"Happy New Year!"
They all shout, “Happy New Year!”
The chair is a blur as it is hurled across the road
With a scream, Gwyneth picks up a chair and flings it across the road, and fireworks can be heard.
