Aaron's kit has not been washed
Aaron looks in the washing machine to find that his football kit has not yet been washed;  his mother tells him he will have to wear it as it is.
"I'll try to come to the tournament"
She says that she will try to come to the football tournament later;  meanwhile, Neville is asleep on the sofa.
"How long is he staying here?"
“How long is he staying?” Aaron demands,
What sort of person keeps an empty milk bottle in the fridge?
and then Britt finds there is no milk in the fridge;  she looks as if she has a hangover, and bellows for Catrin, warning that she is going to be late.
"You'd make a good loudspeaker!"
This wakes Neville with a start, and he says, “You’d make a good loudspeaker, Britt!”
"I love her – I can't help it"
In the café, Colin is telling Kelly, “That’s the trouble – I love her – I can’t help it – I love every daft inch of her.   I didn’t know how much she meant to me until I lost her – until it was too late!”
"Does Britt know how you feel?"
Kelly sympathises with him, and wonders if Britt knows how he feels;
"That Neville bloke is all over her like a rash"
“That Neville bloke is all over her like a rash,” he continues, “She never leaves his side –
"He's a sponger, guaranteed!"
“he’s a sponger, guaranteed!   I’ve tried talking to her, Kel – I’m still trying, but I’ll tell you one thing – don’t take anything for granted.
"If Ed is the one, don't let him go"
“If Ed is the one, you take care of him, don’t let him go.”
Colin surprisingly quotes Beyonce
As he gets up to leave, he says, “There’s a lot of truth to the saying ‘If you liked me you should have put a ring on it’ – Beyonce,” and Dani, who has just come in, also appreciates the truth of this, before asking for a coffee – Fairtrade.
"I've sold the camper van"
“I’ve sold the camper van – they’re picking it up today,” Dani tells Kelly, “I am serious about living a greener life – emissions, fumes, all that stuff is so bad for the planet.”
"How is that going to help?"
Kelly queries how selling the camper van is going to help;  “The buyer is going to drive it, and create pollution.   I mean if you really want to change things,
"You'll have to do something that affects people"
you’ll have to do something that affects people.”   Dani turns and leaves without her coffee,
Ed has sent her an amusing video
as Kelly finds a message on her phone;  an amusing video sent by Ed.
Aaron takes out his frustrations on a football
In the back street, Aaron is kicking a football against the wall,
"Evans has the ball – he's going to score!"
when Colin arrives and joins in;  he asks how Aaron’s mother is.
"That Neville is still here!"
“That Neville is still here – I can’t do anything without him being there,” Aaron grumbles, “It’s a disaster, Col!   It’s the five-a-side tournament today, and I’m not sure that Mam will turn up.”
Colin buys him breakfast
Colin thinks he had better not come, or things might get awkward if his mother and Neville are there.   He gives Aaron some money to buy breakfast, but warns, “No junk food!”   He kicks the ball up the street, commentating, “Monk chases after the ball!”
"You're weird, Colin!"
and Aaron says that he is weird.
"We'll find out if we've got the loan"
Jim reports that the bank want to see him at 11:30; he tells Huwi, “We’ll find out if we’ve got the loan or not.”   Eileen insists that she will come with him so they are both there to hear the response,
"I'll look after him, Mam"
and, as might be expected, Angela volunteers to look after the baby.
"Mind you don't upset him!"
Jim warns her not to upset Huwi while they are gone;  Eileen is still of the opinion that Jim will come round.
Angela is handed the baby
Angela is in her element, looking after the baby.
Aaron leads the team on to the pitch
Aaron comes on to the pitch and looks around for his mother,
"Ref, you need specs!"
who is actually there, and is rather vociferous, as the game begins, commenting, “Ref, you need specs – that should be our throw-in!”
Gaynor finds it concerning . . .
Gaynor is nearby, and is becoming increasingly concerned,
. . . when Britt invades the pitch
as Britt barges on to the pitch and snatches the ball from one of the opposing players.   Aaron is extremely embarrassed, and the referee tells Britt that only players are allowed on the pitch;
She receives short shrift from the referee
“One more word and you’ll have to leave!”   Britt merely laughs at her.
Gaynor phones Colin
Meanwhile, Gaynor is making a phone call to Colin;  he is in the Deri, drinking coffee,
"Right, I'll be there now!"
and tells her, “Right – I’ll be there now!   You did the right thing, phoning me, Gaynor!”
"Oh, sorry, Kel!"
On his way out he bumps into Kelly,
She orders a bottle of champagne
who asks Dani to put a bottle of bubbles on ice;  “Not Prosecco – the real thing.
"Auntie Anita and me are catching up"
“Auntie Anita and me are just having champagne and catching up.”   Dani does not believe a word of this,
"Oh yes, pull the other one"
but Kelly is keen to pay now, which she does with her contactless card.   “Two glasses, champagne on ice, and don’t bring it over until I say,” Kelly instructs.   Dani thinks she understands what is intended.
"You've brought everyone back together"
At Penrhewl, Angela is telling Huwi what a good boy he is;  “You’ve brought everybody back together – one little family.   It doesn’t matter what Jim does,
"I'm never going to be outside, looking in, again"
“I’m never going to be outside, looking in at this family, again.   Your big sister is never going to leave you – you remember that.”
Debbie and Mark are looking forward to their luxury cottage
Anita comes into the Deri, and is followed by Debbie and Mark, who are quite looking forward to their Christmas in a luxury cottage, but Mark says it will be weird not being at home.
"There are only so many mince pies I can serve!"
At the bar, Kelly complains that there are only so many mince pies she can serve,
Dani looks surprised at being asked to watch for a signal
and Dani just wants a signal, then she will do the necessary.
"This is nice, after the problems with the Parrys"
Anita regards this as a nice surprise after the problems she has had with the Parrys;  however, she is not happy that she and Siôn will have to live together again.
She is dubious about living with Siôn
“This will be our first Christmas – and it will be in Y Felin.   Anyway, how are things with you and Ed?”
"You're a woman of the world. and all that"
Kelly nervously begins, “That’s the thing – I wanted your opinion, because you’re a woman of the world, and all that.   I’ve realised something,
"I've reached a crossroads in my life"
and I’ve reached a crossroads in my life.”
“Oh, you’re not going to finish with him, are you?” Anita demands, and Kelly denies this most emphatically.
“I’ve realised something massive,” she whispers, “Ed and I are so good together, so . . .”
"You're pregnant!"
Anita assumes that she is pregnant, but Kelly also denies this.   “It’s been going round and round in my head, and we’re like a jigsaw – we’re a good fit, you know –
"I'm going to ask him to marry me!"
“so I’m going to ask him to marry me!”
Anita is quite delighted with this news, and Kelly signals Dani,
At the signal, Dani springs into action
who is poised with the champagne, as Anita asks if she is sure that she is not pregnant.
"Oh – it's you, Anita!"
Dani is very surprised;  “Oh – it’s you, Anita!”   Kelly wonders who else it would be, and Dani walks off without another word.
The champagne starts flowing
They start pouring the champagne.
Colin has arrived . . .
The five-a-side match continues, and Aaron notices that Colin has arrived;  Britt appears to have quietened down slightly,
. . . and Gaynor thanks him for coming
and Gaynor thanks him for coming.   But then, Aaron almost scores a goal,
"Penalty, ref!"
and Britt erupts once again, demanding a penalty.   The referee agrees on this occasion, and she cannot bear to watch,
Aaron puts the ball into the back of the net . . .
as Aaron kicks the ball directly into the net.
. . . and off goes Britt again
Then there is great rejoicing, and Britt calls to Neville to join her.
"I see now what you're worried about"
“Colin, I see now what you’re worried about,” says Gaynor, “Poor Aaron.”   Britt is loudly chanting in support of Aaron.
Eileen is back home
Eileen returns home to find Huwi fast asleep, and Angela has made up a bottle for him;
"What's breastfeeding like, Mam?"
she wonders what breastfeeding feels like, as she did not do it.   Her mother points out that it can be painful and exhausting;
"It's so natural, when you get used to it"
“But it’s so natural, once you get used to it – and it’s such a comforting feeling.
"But Jim would have a fit if I fed him in public"
But I think Jim would have a fit if I fed Huwi in public – he’s a dinosaur when it comes to things like that.”
Eileen is glad that they went to the bank, as Jim had worked himself up into such a state, but the bank manager was a very supportive.   She will go and make a sandwich;  Angela is quite happy with the baby.
"Huwi and I are glad you've come back"
“Huwi and I are very glad that his big sister has come home,” Eileen says, and Angela is also obviously pleased to be back.
The final whistle sounds
The final whistle sounds, and Britt very enthusiastically congratulates the team on winning the final;
"Why is Neville here, Mam?"
“Why is Neville here, Mam?” demands Aaron, and Britt replies that he is here to support Aaron.   “What I want is for you to be like everybody else’s Mam!   Washing the kit and cooking meals –
"You cause embarrassing scenes!" . . .
“not causing embarrassing scenes!”
. . . like this one
He walks away in disgust, while Colin looks very downhearted.
"She throws herself 100% into everything"
“She throws herself 100% into everything,” comments Neville, and Colin agrees, dejectedly,
"Look after her – that's all I want"
asking Neville to look after – that is all he wants.   Neville confirms that he thinks the world of her.
He gives Aaron the thunbs up . . .
Colin makes sure to give Aaron the thumbs up sign,
. . . which is greatly appreciated
which the boy appreciates.
"I know that getting married is a big step!"
In the Deri, Kelly continues, “I know that getting married is a big step, but I’m ready – and I’ve done it before.”
"That is how it should be"
Anita is glad that she is going to get married before having children, as that is how it should be.
"Colin quoted Beyonce at me this morning
“Colin gave me relationship advice this morning, by quoting Beyonce!” says Kelly.
"Marrying Meic was the best thing I ever did"
Anita ponders, “Marrying Meic was the best thing I ever did – and I remember exactly what he told me, and how I felt.   If you and Ed have discussed it, why hasn’t he asked you?”
"Nothing is stopping me from asking him"
“Well, no, he hasn’t, but nothing is stopping me from asking him,” Kelly replies, “I mean, why not?   I love him, and he loves me –
"I'm so excited!"
“I’m so excited!”
"We're going to see the pigs"
Angela is taking Huwi out for a walk, and tells Jim, “Eileen is having a lie-down while we’re going to see the pigs – there’s a sandwich for you in the kitchen – she made it, not me.”
Huwi does not seem very interested
He comes to see if Huwi is behaving himself, and Angela comments,
"He's so much like Courtney"
“He’s so much like Courtney – his eyes when they look at me.”
Jim apologises for being sharp with her this morning, as he was rather stressed;  “But there was no need for me to have been worried.
"I know we can never be friends again . . ."
I know we can never be friends again, Angela, but I do appreciate everything you’re doing for Eileen and Huwi.”
"I'll look after you, Huwi"
She assures the baby, “I’ll look after you.”
Aaron is back from the football
Aaron is home after the football, and finds his mother and Neville on the sofa;
"We're celebrating!"
“We’ve been celebrating!” she tells Aaron, but he just goes into his room.   “I don’t know what’s wrong with him these days,” she moans,
Britt blames Aaron's hormones
“I’m starting to think his hormones are affecting him.”   Neville points out that he is just like every other boy his age.
"I've had enough!"
Then Aaron reappears, carrying a bag;  “I’ve had enough!” and his mother demands what he is doing.   “I’m going – no, I’m leaving!   You don’t care where!”
"Well, you're not staying with Colin!"
She says that he is not going to stay with Colin, and demands that he tells her where he is going.
"Where are you going?"
She shouts, “Come on – Nev and I want to know!   Aaron, I’m asking you a question!”
"I don't want to be with you – and him!"
He answers, “I’m going to live with Garry – you don’t want me here – and I don’t want to be here with you – and him!   I’m going!”
She shouts and screams after him,
"Don't worry – he'll come back when he's ready"
but Neville points out that he will come back when he is ready.
In the cosy kitchen at Penrhewl . . .
All is quiet at Penrhewl,
. . . Angela is engaged in . . .
as Angela sits on the sofa;
. . . rather inexpert embroidery . . .
she is embroidering, rather crudely, her name in capital letters on the blanket,
. . . and smiles smugly
and smiles smugly.
