26 December 2018 (2nd)

Kelly has served Llinos
After bringing Llinos her drink in the café, Kelly remarks to DJ, “You and Gwyneth were joined at the hip in the procession - I was shocked to see you so – you know – close.”
"We've been even closer!"
He boasts that they have been even closer.
"Are you a glutton for punishment, or what?"
Kelly enquires, “Are you a gutton for punishment, or what?   That’s really weird!”
"Can I order a fish pie for tonight?"
Gaynor comes in, to order a fish pie for tonight;  “Colin has moved back in with Britt and the children.”
"Angela is staying with Hywel at the moment"
Kelly charges her £4.50, as she adds, “Rhys said that Angela is staying with Hywel at the moment.”
Ed comes downstairs, and Gaynor wishes him a belated Merry Christmas.   When she has left, Kelly informs him, “Fish Pie for Gaynor – delivery.”
"I wonder why she doesn't bulk buy"
He cannot understand why she does not bulk buy, instead of ordering every day, but Kelly thinks she has a fair idea.
Hywel is studying the Pwll Bach particulars
Hywel has a document, with details of the Pwll Bach mine;  he studies it with interest.
"Where do you stand on this Pwll Bach?"
Brenda orders a cappuccino in the café, and asks where Kelly and Ed stand on the matter of Pwll Bach.   Kelly admits they do not see eye to eye about it;  “I don’t want a dump at Pwll Bach,
"Lorry drivers have to eat somewhere"
“but lorry drivers have to eat somewhere, so they may as well eat here,” Kelly says.   Ed comments that business is more important than the environment to Kelly.
“What’s the big deal?” Brenda exclaims, “We need more global warming – to put everyone in a better mood,”
"Have you seen the icebergs melting?"
but Kelly does not regard that as funny, pointing out that it is a serious issue, and wonders if she has seen the icebergs melting.
"How do you know it's not fake news?"
“Have you?” retorts Brenda, “How do you know it’s not fake news?”
Kelly is not pleased to see Angela entering the café;  “I don’t want an argument – I just want coffee,” she says.
"No-one attacks my Auntie and gets away with it!"
Kelly’s reply is, “Tough!   No-one attacks my Auntie and gets away with it!”   Angela insists that she did not mean to hurt Anita, and that it was an accident, but this does nothing to placate Kelly, who stresses, “You pushed her and left her on the floor in agony!”
"I want to apologise to her"
Angela would like to apologise to her, and asks where she is;  Kelly rages, “No – don’t you dare go anywhere near her – you’ve done enough damage!   You’re not welcome here – go away!”
Angela insists she has as much right to be here as anyone,
"Angela, I think you'd better go!"
but Ed advises her to go, and finally she does.
"See you in court, Angela!"
Kelly shouts after her, “See you in court, Angela!”
"It's like the Wild West here!"
Brenda comments, “It’s like the Wild West here – I thought it was bad in Llandysul!
Eileen is very nervous about Huwi
At Penrhewl, they have just finished their meal, and Jim wants Eifion to fix a fence this afternoon;  Eileen is in tears, and cannot help worrying about the thought of losing Huwi again.
"She wouldn't dare to come back"
They both assure her that Angela would not dare to come back to the farm, and Eifion believes she is staying with Hywel.
"She's bound to leave Cwmderi"
“He won’t let her stay there for ever – she’s bound to leave Cwmderi,” Jim tells Eileen, and she hopes he is right.   “Forget about her – I won’t let her come near you or Huwi ever again!” he promises,
"Let's look at the business plans"
“Let’s look at the business plans for Pwll Bach – this will cheer you up!”
Eileen does not find them very cheering
but Eileen looks far from convinced.
Gwyneth puts the drone back in its box
Gwyneth is packing away the toy drone in its box when she has a visitor,
"Come up!"
and this time DJ is welcomed;
"Where's Gwern?"
“I missed you and I just wanted to say thank you for Christmas Day,” he says, “Where’s Gwern?”
"He's playing with a friend"
Gwyneth says he is playing with a friend, and DJ suggests,
"Well, we could play here!"
“If he is not here, perhaps the two of us could . . . play here.”   She is all in favour of this, and leads him by the hand towards the bedroom.
Gaynor is served with her drink by Dan,
"Have you heard any more about Pwll Bach?"
and Hywel asks if she has heard any more about Pwll Bach recently;  he is told, “Only that Jim and Eileen are serious about it.
"We should arrange something more official"
“I don’t think they’re taking any notice of people’s opinions, but maybe we should arrange something more official – with a bit more oomph!”
"There are a lot of people in favour"
He reminds her that a lot of people are in favour of it, but she thinks it is worth trying, as if there is strong opposition, they might reconsider buying the place.
"I didn't realise you were such good friends"
“I hear that you have a visitor as well,” she remarks, “I didn’t realise you were such good friends.”   He maintains that they are not, but she needed a listening ear.   “Well, be careful – don’t forget her history,” Gaynor warns
"Is that you, Jim?"
Eileen hears the front door of Penrhewl open, and assumes that it is Jim,
However, it is not him, but rather the dreaded Angela
but is very frightened to find that Angela has returned;
"What do you want?"
“What do you want?” Eileen demands.
“What I want is for you to regard me as your daughter, just like Sioned.
"I don't think that's going to happen"
“I don’t think that’s going to happen, is it?” Angela says, menacingly.   “It’s bad enough that I’ve been accused of assaulting Anita, but kidnapping on top of that?
"Do you want me to go to prison?"
“Do you want me to go to prison?”
"Are you all right, Eileen?"
At this point, Jim rushes in;  “Are you all right?   I saw her come in from the barn!”   Eileen explains that Angela wants them to drop the charges, but Jim is quite determined,
"You deserve everything you get!"
“Never – you deserve everything you get!”
Angela whimpers that she has been in bits since losing Courtney, but he forbids her from mentioning that name;  “Courtney would turn in her grave if she knew.
"We're fed up with you and your poison!"
“You’ve had your chance – but no more!   We’re fed up with you and your poison – do us all a favour and leave the village!”
"How can you call yourself a mother?"
Then Angela tries appealing to her mother;  “How can you call yourself a mother?   Say something!”   Jim tells her that is enough, but Angela is refusing to leave until her mother talks to her;
"I want you to go!"
Eileen makes it very clear, “I want you to go – shut up, will you?   You put Huwi’s life in danger – there’s nothing more to be said between us.
"I won't drop the charges!"
“I won’t drop the charges!”   Angela turns and walks out without another word.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry!"
In the Deri, Hywel bumps into Brenda, and she demands that he buy her a brandy, for the shock.
"I expect you've got something to say"
When he walks to the bar, DJ comments, “I expect you’ve got something to say about it as well,” but Hywel simply says that he is surprised.   “Look, everyone makes mistakes – you know that better than anyone,” DJ points out, “Gwyneth is no different.”
"Be careful, DJ – remember Siôn!"
“Just be careful, DJ – she nearly destroyed Siôn’s life, trying to take Y Felin from him,” Hywel warns,
"Says the bloke giving Angela a roof over her head!"
but DJ says that is rich, coming from the bloke who is giving Angela a roof over her head.   Hywel reminds him that he still has his self-respect, adding, “If you dance with the devil...”
It seems that Angela wants some company
Hywel receives a text from Angela, asking where he is, and hurriedly leaves,
"Have you seen an old woman?"
just as Gerwyn comes in, asking if they have seen an old woman.
Then he locates her . . .
He hears an electronic piano,
. . . complete with keyboard
and finds it is being played by Brenda.
"I knew it was a stupid idea to go out"
Hywel gets home and is told, “I’ve made it even worse – I knew it was a stupid idea to go out.   I found myself in Penrhewl – I don’t even remember going there.”
"I told you to stay away"
He reminds her he said to stay away from there, but she goes on, “I had to try to get Mam to drop the charges – and it was a waste of time –
"I might as well accept that I'm going to prison"
“I might as well accept that I’m going to prison, and there’s nothing I can do!”
Gwen seems to be enjoying the music . . .
Gwen is amongst the listeners gathering around Brenda, as she sings about three little pigs;  John Post seems rather perplexed by her performance,
. . . but Gerwyn is certainly not
and Gerwyn is embarrassed.
"Still trying to get your claws into him?"
Gwyneth orders another two pints, as Eifion remarks, “You’re still trying to get your claws into him, are you?
"Having him slobbering over you for a £200 bet?"
“Is it worth it – having him slobbering over you just to win a £200 bet?”   She replies that the bet does not matter, and it was only a joke;
"If he found out, he'd be really hurt"
if DJ found out about it he would be really hurt.
"Since when have you cared about people's feelings?"
“Since when have you cared about people’s feelings?” Eifion demands, but then realises that she actually likes DJ;
"What would he say if he found out?"
“You’ve fallen for the clown?   He’s even more of a clown if he’s going out with you – what would he say if he found out about the bet?”
Kelly is planning something . . .
Kelly is looking at a website, and speaking on the phone;  “Let me get this right – what do I actually get for £1,000?   The flight and the picnic, yeah?   Oh, the picnic’s extra –
. . . but then she abandons it
that’s crazy!   Yeah, you too, mate!”   Then she hears Ed coming and closes the laptop.
"Did she spank you with her cane?"
She asks how was his secret admirer;  “Gaynor – did she spank you with her cane?   You never know with these teachers –
"That's why she buys a meal each day"
“I think that’s why she buys a meal every day, so that you visit her.”   Then she stands up and asks him,
"Dou you want a wedding . . . er . . . a cuppa?"
“Do you want a wedding . . . er . . . a cuppa?”
"A year ago, you kissed me for the first time!"
He says he does not, as they will be going to the Deri tonight;  “A couple of pints and a meal to celebrate – it struck me earlier that a year ago tonight, you kissed me for the first time.   You were drunk, I pushed you away – but look at us now!”
"You are soppy, Ed"
She describes him as soppy, but says it is the best proposal she has had all day,
They kiss
and they kiss.
Brenda sings on . . . and on
Brenda is singing, very repetitively,
These four seem to find it amusing
but the onlookers seem to be enjoying it, while Gerwyn is finding it increasingly tedious, and as soon as she has finished, turns off the instrument.
"People want to enjoy their pint in peace"
“Mam, people want to enjoy their pint in peace,” he tells her.
Eifion over-emphasises his position at the farm
Then Gerwyn introduces himself to Eifion, who says he is a farmer, and also has a organic food company Cae Glas.
"You're only a farmhand"
DJ interrupts, to say he is only a farmhand, but is reminded that he had Cadno, then Non,
"Now Gwyneth – you can't go much lower!"
and now Gwyneth;  “You can’t go much lower!”
DJ objects, “Cadno and I would be married, if it wasn’t for you!
"And when you had stolen Cadno – you decided you were gay!"
“And what did you do after stealing her?   You decided you were gay!”   Eifion reminds him that Gwyneth is gay sometimes – unless she is trying to win some money!”
Gwyneth thinks this an opportune moment to leave
Gwyneth thinks it is about time to go back to the flat, and warns him not take any notice of Eifion.   Gerwyn, who has been in the middle of this exchange, wonders what he has got himself into.
"Cwmderi is a den of vice and iniquity!"
He reports to his mother, “Cwmderi is a den of vice and iniquity!”
Ed and Kelly come in, and Kelly goes to talk to Eifion,
"Bottle of wine, please"
while Ed orders a bottle of wine;  Gaynor arrives at the bar,
"That fish pie was lovely!"
and reports that the fish pie was delicious.   She has been thinking about the protest,
"We're celebrating, Gaynor!"
and Kelly returns, inviting Gaynor to join them;  “Ed and I are celebrating a year since our first kiss.”
She, however, has come in looking for her scarf, which is purple with flowers;
"No, sorry"
Dan has not seen it
Hywel continues his investigations
Hywel is looking online at the particulars of Pwll Bach;  he pours Angela and himself some whisky,
"Jim has turned out to be a bit of a bully, has he?"
and comments, “So Jim has turned out to be a bit of a bully, has he?”
Angela says she could strangle him;  “I could have persuaded Mam to drop the charges, if he hadn’t interfered.”
"Eileen is a selfish one, too"
He is not sure of that, maintaining that Eileen is a selfish one, too.
“I’ve been weighing up the pros and cons, and I may as well come clean and tell you honestly.
"I'm interested in buying Pwll Bach"
“I’m interested in Pwll Bach, in buying the place.   I was a businessman once upon a time, and I think it’s about time I got back into it.   Pwll Bach is the ideal opportunity to do that.
"Nothing would give me more pleasure when I'm in prison"
Angela wishes him good luck;  “Nothing would give me more pleasure while I’m in prison than the thought of those two suffering!”
Hywel would welcome any inside information
He had suspected that;  “I’m not putting any pressure on you – but if you want revenge against them, I’m more than happy to listen to what their plans are for the place –
Angela's response seems evident
“what do you say?”
