Hywel stands outside the door of the Deri

Hywel stands outside the door of the Deri, and when Sheryl comes out, pleading with him, he goes into their house next door, but she follows him in, despite his injunction to leave him alone.

"I'm not having an affair with Gethin!"

“Listen to me, please – I’m not having an affair with Gethin!”

"No – but you were for months!"

Hywel accepts this, but reminds her she has been having an affair for months.

“Gethin told me himself!” he says, and she demands why he went ahead with the wedding.

"I know what it's like to have a fling"

“I know what it’s like to have a fling,” he replies, “They usually don’t mean anything – not enough to destroy a family!”

"A bit of selfish fun which meant nothing"

Sheryl describes it as a selfish bit of fun which meant nothing, but he calls that a lie.

"You wouldn't discuss Meilyr with a meaningless fling!"

“You wouldn’t discuss Meilyr with some meaningless fling, Sheryl! Meilyr was my son – you had no right to discuss him while lying in Gethin’s arms – you had no right to say his name!”

"But I didn't, Hywel!"

She is outraged and denies talking about him.

"Is it true, Sheryl?"

Her mother comes in to find out if it is true, and when there is no reply, her face falls.

Ffion has not yet got over the shock

Ffion is sitting, devastated, in the Deri as Garry announces that the show is over, and that everyone should go home.

"I knew that today was going to turn into a shambles!"

Anita snarls at Gethin, “I knew that today was going to turn into a shambles – you should be ashamed of yourself!”

Gethin intends to go and see Sheryl . . .

Gethin unsteadily gets up from his bar stool and is about to head to the door,

. . . but Garry has other ideas

but is repulsed by Garry; “You’re not going near Sheryl!” he is told.

"I don't care what he does"

Ffion does not care what he does, and Gethin maintains that shows that Ffion knows how much Cheryl means to him. He tells Anita to clear off, as she must be desperate to spread the gossip about this.

Garry seizes him and orders him to go upstairs and sober up;

"Why didn't you try to stop the wedding?"

Ffion reveals to Dani that Gethin told her this morning, and she is asked why she did not say something to try and stop the wedding. “When I saw Arwen and Esther in their dresses . . . I can’t believe that Hywel knew as well –

"They have made an utter fool of me!"

“the three of them have made an utter fool of me!”

"I want to be with Hywel"

confesses to her mother, “I want to be with Hywel – Gethin and I have been over for ages. I would never have discussed Meilyr with him.”

"I thought you would have run into lover-boy's arms"

Hywel comes downstairs and comments, “I thought you would have run into lover-boy’s arms, to carry on discrediting Meilyr’s memory. You and I lost Meilyr – we were his parents, and he meant everything to us.”

"Can't you see what he's trying to do?"

Julie points out that Gethin knows that; “Can’t you see what he’s trying to do? Whatever he said about Meilyr was a lie!”

"This is nothing but revenge"

Sheryl agrees that this is nothing but revenge, and demands what is the only thing that will never change for them – the one thing that no-one can take away from them.

“It is Meilyr – you and I are the only ones with those memories.

"Don't let him use Meilyr to split us up"

“Please don’t let him use Meilyr to split us up, Hywel. Gethin is lying, I swear to you.”

"Those promises don't mean anything to you, do they?"

Hywel remembers that she made promises in Bethania earlier; “But they don’t mean anything to you, do they? Even if Gethin is lying about Meilyr, it doesn’t change the fact that you cheated on me.”

"Shame there isn't any brandy in it"

In the Deri, Dani brings Ffion a cup of black coffee, and Ffion jokes, “It’s shame there isn’t any brandy in it.”

"I never want to see him again!"

When asked, she resolutely replies, “I never want to see him again!”

Dani points out that people get over things like this – her and Garry for instance, and they are stronger now than ever.

"You're so good together, Ffi"

“I know that Gethin has been a right idiot, but you’re so good together.”

"If he agreed, he wouldn't have slept with Sheryl!"

“He doesn’t agree with you, or he wouldn’t have slept with Sheryl!” is Ffion’s acid reply, but Dani stresses that he was smashed, and he does not mean anything to Sheryl, or she would not have married Hywel.

"Don't throw it all away over one mistake"

She urges Ffion not to throw it all away over one mistake.

"One mistake? It's been going on for weeks!"

“It’s been going on for weeks!” Ffion protests.

Dani encourages her to go and talk to him, as she deserves answers, but Ffion does not want to hear this and only wants to go and see Arwen. When Julie comes into the pub,

Ffion has nothing to say to Sheryl's mother

Ffion walks straight past her.

"Everything was fine until Gethin lied to Hywel"

Julie angrily comments that everything was fine until Gethin lied to Hywel; “And Sheryl is entirely innocent in all this, is she?” replies Dani, “Come on, I’m closing – get out!”

"What about all this food?"

“What about all this food – Hywel and Sheryl have paid for this,” Julie enquires, and Dani does not think they want it now. “I’ll sort something out,” Julie volunteers,

Dani bolts the door of the Deri

so Dani bolts the front door and tells Julie to leave the back way when she has finished.

"I love Sheryl and she loves me"

Upstairs, Gethin is wailing, “You don’t understand – I love Sheryl and she loves me.” Garry presumes that is why she married Hywel,

"I'm going to see Sheryl"

and when Dani comes in, Gethin insists that he wants to see Sheryl. “Garry has known about Sheryl and me for ages.”

"You could have stopped this pantomime!"

Dani is furious, saying that Garry could have stopped this pantomime; “I don’t know what’s wrong with people – Ffion knew too.” Gethin confirms that he told her this morning, and put her straight that it was not just a crush.

"There's no point trying to stand in the way of love"

He says that there is no point trying to stand in the way of love, which makes Garry laugh.

"Sheryl has just married Hywel!"

Dani shouts that he is being ridiculous; “Sheryl has just married Hywel!” She tells him to go and lie down, but then he suddenly jumps up and runs to the toilet.

"He's a prat!"

Garry describes him as a, “Prat!” but Dani tells him he is far from innocent himself.

"It was just a mistake, Hywel"

home, Sheryl emphasises that it was just a mistake,

"A mistake which went on for months"

but Hywel replies, “A mistake which went on for months – I thought we could get over this, but . . . I should have cancelled the wedding.”

"You're the one I love!"

She repeats that he is the one she loves, and he has to believe her. He agrees that he did love her too, very much,

A rather strange accomplishment

boasting, “You’re the only woman I’ve ever been faithful to.”

"You can't stop loving someone just like that"

She asks, “Do you still love me? You must do, or you wouldn’t have married me – you can’t stop loving someone just like that!”

He has a text from the hotel

He receives a text from the hotel, wanting to know what time they will arrive. He is about to cancel, but Sheryl pleads with him not to do so, as it will be a chance to talk and sort things out without people interfering.

"I don't want to lose you – I'll do anything!"

She does not want to lose him and is willing to do anything. He agrees that perhaps they do need some time; “But not together!”

Ffion and Arwen go home

Ffion and Arwen arrive back at Cysgod y Glyn, and are about to get changed, then can have some lunch.

"Where's Gethin?"

Arwen asks her mother, “Where’s Gethin?”

"Mending someone's car"

and is told that he is at work, mending someone’s car.

Arwen goes to her room . . .

Arwen goes to play in her room,

. . . and Ffion weeps bitterly

while Ffion breaks down in tears.

Julie is food recycling

Julie comes in the back door of Hywel’s and Sheryl’s house with trays of food, and Hywel protests that he does not want them. Julie insists, “There’s no point wasting food – those vol-au-vents are lovely.

"Are you going to forgive Sheryl?"

“Are you going to forgive Sheryl?”

"This is not my fault"

He points out that this is not his fault, but is told that she really regrets it, and her mother has never seen her as happy as with him. “Don’t cast her and Esther aside, just because you’re too proud to forgive her.”

Sheryl comes downstairs and is going to fetch Esther, but Julie insists on doing it, advising her that Hywel has something to tell her.

"I've changed my mind – perhaps we should go"

“You’d better go and pack,” he says sternly, “I’m not throwing you out – I’ve changed my mind about the honeymoon – perhaps we should go. I’m not making any promises – and you’re sleeping in with your mother tonight. I’m willing to try, for Esther’s sake.”

This comes as a relief to Sheryl

Sheryl breathes a sigh of relief.

Next morning, Gethin has recovered slightly

Next morning, Gethin appears slightly more sober, and thanks Dani and Garry for letting him stay the night,

"I want you out by tonight!"

but Garry wants him out by tonight. Gethin asks Dani if Sheryl has been in touch, repeating that he loves her;

Dani9 tells him a few home truths

she replies, “Ffion and Arwen are the best thing that’s ever happened to you – don’t spoil it over a silly fantasy. I understand – Garry told me everything – Sheryl finished with you weeks ago,

"Forget about Sheryl and go to see Ffion!"

“so please, forget about Sheryl, and go to see Ffion!”

Sheryl and Esther are having breakfast

Sheryl is having breakfast with Esther, and when Hywel comes downstairs, he prefers coffee to the tea which is already in the pot. She wants a word with him;

"We could leave Esther with Mam"

“This is not going to work unless we talk sensibly, and we won’t get a chance with Esther there. We could leave Esther with Mam.”

"What – for two weeks?"

Hywel does not like the idea of this for two weeks, but she insists that they have to repair their relationship.

Anyway, Julie has to get back to work

Julie comes downstairs and Sheryl asks if she can look after Esther while they are on their honeymoon, but she cannot, as she has to go back to work. Sheryl will have to think of something else; “I’m going to make it up to you, so please give me a chance.”

Ffion is sitting on the sofa when Gethin returns;

"Were you hoping I was out, you coward?"

“You took your time,” she tells him, “Were you hoping I was out, so you could sneak in and out without seeing me – you coward!”

Gethin is about to retreat

He wants to leave, but Ffion is adamant, “You’re not going anywhere, mate! Sit down!”

"What came over you, Sheryl?"

has gone to see Anita, who demands what came over, destroying two happy families. Sheryl replies that she has not destroyed her family; “Hywel has agreed to come away on honeymoon so that we can talk and sort it all out.

"Will you babysit while we're away?"

“I was hoping that you would babysit while we’re away.”

"That's a lot to ask!"

Anita is outraged, and considers it a lot to ask, but Sheryl admits that she has really messed up, and really needs Anita’s help.

"Esther doesn't deserve any of this"

“Esther doesn’t deserve any of this, and you’re so good with her.” Anita reluctantly agrees, stressing that she is doing it for the sake of Esther and Wil.

"It's been five or six months"

Gethin says that it has been going on for five or six months, he does not remember exactly,

"What – when Arwen was ill?"

and Ffion realises that this was when Arwen was ill. “So when we were in Euro Disney, you and she were . . . Did it happened in our bed?”

"I would never have done that"

and he quickly denies this, maintaining he would never have done that.

"I thought we were happy!"

“I thought we were happy,” Ffion continues, “We’re engaged!” He replies that is what she wanted, and she demands,

"Why didn't you say?"

“If you were so unhappy, why didn’t you say so?”

"It was fun and exciting"

He says that he and Sheryl just happened – and he did not want it to stop, because it was fun and exciting; “And then I fell in love with her – you must understand that.

"Your life is one trauma after another"

“I can’t remember the last time you and I had fun together – your life is one trauma after another. Are you surprised I went looking elsewhere?”

Ffion's right fist is a blur . . .

In her fury, Ffion unleashes a vicious punch,

. . . as it sends him flying

which sends Gethin reeling backwards on to the sofa;

"You've got the nerve to blame me?"

“And what about your traumas, eh? All the illegal scams – the years of self-pity over what Moc did to you? And it you’ve got the nerve to blame me?

"Get out of here – and don't come back!"

“Get out of my sight! Get out of here – and don’t come back!”

Hywel tells Garry they are going away . . .

Hywel comes out of the front door and tells Garry that he and Sheryl are going away to talk; he carries a box of Esther’s toys to number 10,

. . . but Gethin gets the wrong end of the stick . . .

and Gethin, watching from the alley, assumes that he is moving out.

. . . and hastens to the house

He immediately rushes across to the house, and says, with obvious delight,

"He's left you, hasn't he?"

“He’s left you, hasn’t he? I promise I will look after you and Esther.”

"No, he hasn't – we're going on honeymoon"

Sheryl enlightens him that Hywel has not left her; “Anita is going to babysit while we’re on our honeymoon.”

This is a great disappointment for Gethin

By now, Hywel has returned and snarls that Gethin’s lies have not worked –

"We're going to start our married life in peace"

he has forgiven Sheryl, and they are going to start their married life in peace.

"You're making a mistake, you know"

Gethin still insists that she is making a mistake, but she replies,

"My biggest mistake was fooling around with you!"

“My biggest mistake was fooling around with you – it’s Hywel I love, and we are going to make this marriage work!” Totally deflated, Gethin makes a hasty exit, and Hywel says he had better finish packing.
