7 June 2018

The workman packs away his equipment
In the street a workman in a van has fixed a ‘For Sale’ notice to the café;
"Look, Mark, over there!"
as Mark and his mother pass,
The café is up for sale
they notice the sign and look puzzled.
Mark gets out his phone
Mark immediately gets out his phone while Kath goes into the café.
Tyler is going to the gym again
At number 7, Tyler is again in a hurry to get to the gym, and Iolo objects to him going there so frequently;
"You would tell me if anything was wrong?"
“You would tell me if something was wrong, wouldn’t you?” he asks, “You’ve spent a lot of time in the gym recently,” but Tyler says it is a way to help him relax.
He opens a letter
Then the post arrives, as Iolo suggests that that they go out one night, as he is sure that Dani will babysit.   Tyler opens a letter and looks very concerned;
"Mam is trying to stop the adoption!"
“Mam has applied to the court to stop the adoption!” he announces.
Off goes Chester to the gym
At the chip shop flat, Chester is also about to go to the gym, and his mother is pleased that Tyler is such a good influence on him.
"I might go and join him'
“I’m so glad that Tyler is keeping him company – I might go and join him,” Britt says, “Don’t look at me like that, Col – I’m going to start running,” and she shows him a leaflet, reading ‘Clwb Carlam[Fast Club].
"If the can do it on that FFIT Cymru, why cant I?"
“If they can do it on that ‘FFIT Cymru’, why can’t I?
"I just hope I can keep up!"
“I just hope that I can keep up.”
Mark confirms that Debbie authorised the sale
At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is checking with Tomos ac Ellis that Debbie did authorise the ‘For Sale’ sign, while Vicky is trying to contact her mother in Spain.   He reports that Debbie phoned them on Monday, while Vicky can get no reply.
"Why would she do that without telling us?"
They cannot understand how she could do that without telling them, with Vicky suspecting she has bought a villa in Spain.
"I haven't heard from her for four days"
“I knew something was not the right earlier in the week – usually she texts me every day, but I haven’t had anything for days,” Mark tells them, “Maybe she has been kidnapped!” but his mother says he has lost the plot;  nevertheless he intends to phone the embassy.
Iolo has obtained solicitor's advice
Iolo has been speaking to the solicitor and explains to Tyler that he was told
"Wendy does not have a hope!"
Wendy does not have a hope.   The solicitor has years of experience and said adoption services took extra care in such circumstances.
"There are rules and regulations"
“No-one can take Greta from us because a family member has turned up – there are rules and regulations.”
"But Mam doesn't follow the rules!"
Tyler insists that his mother does not follow the rules, and is determined to go to the gym, as he does not want to talk about it.
Gaynor hopes it remains as a café
Gaynor and Colin have also seen the ‘For Sale’ notice, and hope it will remain as a café;  “We don’t need another charity shop or a nail salon.” Gaynor grumbles, and reveals to Colin that she has bought some running shoes, as she has joined the running club.
"Britt's going for a run this lunchtime"
Colin informs her that Britt she is going for a run this lunchtime, and calls her across.
"I'm worried I'm going to be a bit slow"
“I’m doing it today for the first time, and I am worried that I’m going to be a bit slow,” she says,
"Most of us can run quite well"
but Gaynor points out that most of them can run quite well.   Colin is sure that Gaynor will look after her,
Obviously, Gaynor is not looking forward to it
and Britt is looking forward to it.
Tyler ignores Chester
When Tyler walks into the gym, he totally ignores Chester, and does not want to enter into conversation with him,
"I'm trying to focus!"
simply saying that he wants to focus.
Gaynor moans at Elgan
Gaynor goes home and complains, “This had to happen, just when I had found the ideal way to relax – I shall have to stay with her, and I can’t see Britt being a fast runner.   She’ll want to talk about Chester and the school – that’s why I enjoy running, to forget about work.”
"If she's too slow, i'll stay with her"
Elgan suggest that he will come with her, then if Britt is too slow, he will stay with her;  he would not mind going for a run, as today’s therapy session was a bit intense.
"Some fresh air will do me good"
“Some fresh air will do me the world of good!”
Debbie is back from Spain
Iolo, who has just come out of the shop with Greta, is the first to see Debbie, on her return from Spain;
She surveys the signs on the café
she looks across at the café, with its newly-erected signs, and looks somewhat troubled.
Gaynor and Elgan are waiting for Britt . . .
The runners are preparing to start, but Gaynor says it looks as if Britt is not coming;
. . . and then she turns up. . .
then, to her disappointment, Britt does turn up.
. . . full of enthusiasm
She apologises for her lateness, and Elgan points out that it is not a race;  they head off into the forest.
"What am I supposed to tell people?"
Kath is moaning, “I’m starting to feel stupid now – people are phoning about the café.   What am I supposed to tell them?”   Mark replies that if Debbie wants to sell the café, it is up to her, and all he is worried about is if she is safe.
Debbie has just arrived
At this moment Debbie is quietly letting herself in the front door,
"Well, I am safe1"
and informs them, “Well, I am safe!”
"I've been worried sick about you"
He wants to know why she did not answer her phone, as he has been worried sick about her, and Vicky demands what is going on, as the café is for sale, but Debbie tries to change the subject, wanting a cup of tea, which Mark will make for her.
"Oh, where is she?"
In the middle of the forest, Gaynor stops to look behind, but there is no sign of Britt.   “I have to go back to school after this,” she grumbles,
"It's OK, I'll wait for her"
and Elgan agrees to wait for her, so  Gaynor goes on her way.
Elgan awaits Britt . . .

As he waits,

. . . but  rope tied round a tree . . .
he notices a rope tied round a tree,
. . . evokes flashbacks from the war
which triggers flashbacks to when he was in the army, and in his mind he hears gunfire, which causes him to panic.
Britt slowly approaches . . .
Eventually Britt catches up
. . . and finds Elgan not quite himself
and finds him in a disturbed state;  she thanks him for waiting, saying that she has not run so much since she was a child.
"You're supposed to be the doctor!"
“Don’t you have a funny turn – you’re supposed to be the doctor!”
"Come and sit down over here"
She finds somewhere for them to sit down.
"I'm so glad to be home"
After her cup of tea, Debbie says she is so glad to be home,
"What sort of mess have you got yourself into now?"
and Kath demands what sort of mess she has got herself into now.   “There’s nothing to say.
"I fancy a new challenge, that's all"
“I fancy a new challenge, that’s all,” Debbie replies, “I’ve been running the café for years, and it’s time I had a change.   I haven’t had a chance to think what I am going to do next.”
Kath comments, sceptically, “And you decided this while walking on a beach in Spain, did you?”   Vicky reminds her that she has family and her decisions affect all of them.
Mark has suspicions that she is not telling all
Debbie is adamant that everyone needs a change from time to time,
"Your gifts are by the door"
then changes the subject, saying that their gifts are by the door.
"I had a weird experience"
“I’ve never been here before – it’s a lovely place,” says Britt, but the doctor says he had a weird experience here,
"I have PTSD after being in the army"
describing his PTSD after some experiences he had while he was in the army.   Britt was unaware of this, and he tells her he is having treatment for it, enabling him to slowly come to terms with it, but it takes time and patience – and sometimes it catches him unawares.
"I was shot!"
She announces, “Something happened to me too, years ago now, I was shot!”
Elgan is rather taken aback
This surprises Elgan, but she points out that it was an accident.   “I don’t think I’ve got PTSD like you, but I get flashbacks sometimes.   I can remember everything so clearly, and think I’m back there.
"It happens at the strangest times"
“It happens at the strangest times.   At first I tried to fight it.”   Elgan says that it sounds very familiar.
"But it doesn't frighten me any more"
She continues, “But now, I just accept it – it’s part of my memories, and doesn’t frighten me any more.”   Elgan agrees that you should work through it and not fight against it,
"Well, that's what the therapist says"
or at least, that is what the therapist says.
"I was waiting for you"
Just then, Gaynor returns along the path, looking for them;  “I was getting concerned – I have been waiting for you,
They complete the run
“and I have to go back to school now.”   Elgan admits that he felt rather dizzy, but is fine now, and they finish the run.
Tyler is still in the gym, lifting 70 kg weights,
"The receptionist if keeping an eye on her"
but is perturbed to see Iolo there, and worries about where Greta is.   He is assured that the receptionist is keeping an eye on her,
"I'm here for you, when you're ready to talk"
and Iolo just wanted to say sorry for this morning.   “I know you’re concerned about Wendy, but I’m here for you, when you’re ready to talk.”
Tyler is rather unreceptive, and intends to go for a jog;
"You should go, Iol!"
he advises Iolo he had better go, because they do not want to leave Greta with a stranger, so he goes without another word.   Tyler then demands that Chester leave him alone.
"Nicky will be so smart, wearing this"
“Nicky will be so smart, wearing this,” says Vicky, and thanks her mother;  she has been given a dress,
"Good, thanks"
but Kath is rather less complimentary about her jumper.
"Cheese and pickle sandwich"
Mark has made Debbie a cheese and pickle sandwich, with a bit of lettuce,
"I'm so happy to be home"
and she is almost in tears, maintaining that she is so happy to be home.
Kath and Vicky are not so sure
Kath and Vicky are suspicious.
Colin deals with Britt's aching feet
Colin massages Britt’s aching feet, and thinks she has overdone it;  “Gaynor should have been looking after you,” he says;
"I had a nice little chat with Elgan in the forest"
she points out that actually Elgan did, and that they had a nice little chat in the forest.   Chester is back from the gym, and Britt says that Tyler is very stressed about that Greta business.
"Don't make excuses for him"
“Don’t make excuses for him,” snarls Chester, and retires to his room
"Do you believe her, Mark?
“Do you believe her?” Kath asks Mark, “It’s a bit weird, isn’t it?
"Why didn't she wait until she was home?"
“Why didn’t she wait until she was home before putting the café on the market?”
Debbie is listening from the foot of the stairs
Debbie has come downstairs, and stands there listening to them, as Kath goes on, “No, it doesn’t make any sense at all – I don’t trust her!”
Mark reminds his mother,  “Youve caused so much trouble, constantly bickering with Debbie;
"Let's all of us try to get on together – all right?"
“Let’s all of us try to get on together – all right?”
Kath will not be silenced;
"Something's amiss, let me tell you!"
“Something’s amiss, let me tell you – she’s too happy, for one thing.”   Mark points out that she is just back from her holiday, and she is safe and sound – that is all he cares about.
“She’s lucky to have you,” says his mother, as Debbie’s phone sounds,
Debbie has had a disturbing text
and she sees a text which she finds very disturbing.
