DJ regains consciousness . . . |
Next morning, DJ awakens to find himself in a strange bed; there is a picture of Gwyneth at the side of it. With growing realisation, he turns to find Gwyneth alongside him;
. . . and tries to escape quietly |
he gets out of bed and quietly gathers his clothes. As he is about to go out of the door,
"I haven't finished with you yet!" |
she says, “Good morning – where do you think you’re going? I haven’t finished with you yet!”
"I have to go to work!" |
He mutters that he has to go to work, and beats a hasty retreat;
Gwyneth looks disgruntled |
Gwyneth looks disappointed.
Meanwhile, at Bryntirion, Diane is calling upstairs to DJ that his breakfast is on the table, then she goes upstairs.
"DJ should be in work by now" |
Sara complains to Dai that DJ should be in work by now,
"Is Jason going to turn up for work today?" |
but he replies, “Is Jason going to turn up for work today? That’s the big question. Why don’t you two just sort this out? The longer you let things stew, the more difficult it will be.”
"DJ's bed has not been slept in" |
Diane returns to say that there is no sign of DJ and his bed has not been slept in; Sara adds that he left work yesterday without a word of warning.
"He's taking advantage" |
“He’s taking advantage, knowing I’ve got a lot on my mind.”
DJ does not want to be seen |
Gwyneth, in her dressing gown, opens the door of the salon flat, and DJ is afraid of someone seeing him; “We’ll have to have another night like that – just enjoying ourselves,” she comments.
"People will talk" |
He is worried that people will talk if they are seen together, but Gwyneth replies, “We’re free to do what we want.”
"I won't charge you for the breakfast!" |
When he finally moves, he bumps into Tyler, and she says, “Right, see you, DJ, and I won’t charge you for the breakfast!” DJ alleges that he had his haircut, and did not sleep with her,
"Was it a good night?" |
but Tyler simply wants to know if it was a good night.
"Where were you yesterday?" |
Then Sara arrives on the scene, and demands where DJ was yesterday; “Customers were complaining that no-one answered the phone!”
"I had to see Hywel about the computer" |
He points out that he had to go and see Hywel, as the computer crashed. She continues, “Where were you last night? Dai and Diane were worried.”
"We had a poker night at number 7" |
Tyler covers for him and lies, “We had a poker night at our house, and DJ slept on the sofa.” DJ informs her that he will just get some breakfast in the café and then will be at Awyr Iach.
"I thought you had breakfast with Gwyneth!" |
Tyler remarks, “And there I was, thinking you had breakfast with Gwyneth.”
In the café, Gaynor is telling Hywel that she has a day away from school today, and is going with Tyler on a recce for the school’s walking trip.
Gaynor is going walking |
She asks Ed to fill her flask with coffee; “Perhaps I will phone you halfway round, so you can deliver us some lunch.”
Hywel speaks to Arwen on the phone |
Hywel has a phone call from Ffion, advising him that they are leaving for North Wales today, and he speaks to Arwen, telling her she is lucky to be staying with Auntie Nesta.
"A change will do Ffion good" |
Gaynor seems to be interested in this conversation, and says that the change will do Ffion good, but Hywel is going to miss them; “The two girls have become good friends.” Gaynor suspects there is more to it than that.
Another step towards buying Morawel |
Anita is on the phone, excited that her offer on Morawel has been accepted, and they will have to start on the legal process. “I’m buying it with Siôn White, my partner, and I look forward to hearing from you.”
"Not an offer from you and Siôn?" |
Kelly looks disapproving, and emphasises, “Your offer? Not one from you and Siôn?”
"We're buying it together" |
Anita replies that they are buying it together, and Kelly wonders how she got him to agree.
“I haven’t got him to agree – yet,” says Anita, “But I intend to.”
"Are you completely stupid or what?" |
Kelly does not mince her words, “Are you completely stupid or what? You’re making a mega mistake, putting in an offer when you know Siôn’s dead against it!”
"I can persuade him to change his mind" |
Anita is confident that she can persuade him to change his mind.
“I wouldn’t like to be in your shoes when he finds out what you’ve done!” warns Kelly.
Jason is playing roulette online |
Jason is once again playing online roulette when there is a knock at the door;
He has a sandwich delivery |
he finds that it is Ed, delivering sandwiches to him. “Feeling lazy, are you?” he comments,
"Café too far for you to walk?" |
“Café too far for you to walk?” and Jason tells him that Ifan is sleeping upstairs.
"Do you want to pay now?" |
“Do you want to pay now?” asks Ed, and is told that Jason will come over to pay later. “Listen, tell me if I’m being nosy, but are things all right between you and Sara? I heard that she and Ifan moved out.”
"Everything is sorted now" |
Jason replies, “Yes, we fell out – but everything’s been sorted now – she’s moved back in and everything’s tickety-boo. It was my fault – I wasn’t spending enough time with my wife and child. Too busy at work.” Ed is far from convinced by his story.
Some more money down the pan |
Jason reopens his laptop to find the message, “You lose.”
"He is alone in there, Sara" |
Outside in the street, Ed tells Sara that Jason phoned for a sandwich delivery, and is alone in there.
"I'm on my way now, Colin!" |
Just by APD, Dai has a phone call from Colin; “I’m on my way now,” he says, irritably, “No, I don’t know where she is –
"I don't know where my own wife is half the time!" |
“I don’t even know where my own wife is half the time! She’s probably shopping – you know what women are like!”
"Your mother will have to be the labourer!" |
On their way to the chippy, he and Diane stop at the door of number 9, and Dai shouts, “Come on, Jason – I need help, plastering the chip shop flat. Unless you come, your mother will have to be the labourer!”
"Hallelujah!" |
Surprisingly, the door opens, and Dai continues, “Hallelujah! You’re coming with me, even if I have to put you in the wheelbarrow!” Diane insists that he leaves this to her, and tells Jason that Sara is worried sick about this Sandra.
The sight of Sara, looking grim, across the road makes him retreat |
Then Sara comes out of the shop opposite, and he retreats into the house, closing the door. Dai is very dismissive of Diane’s methods.
"I was right – he is having an affair . . ." |
Sara has gone to see Kelly, and says that Jason looked terrible. She says that Jason has been spouting lies; “I was right – he is having an affair – I went through his phone.
". . . what else could it be?" |
“There were loads of calls and texts from this Sandra – what else could it be?”
"Do you want me to get a confession out of him?" |
Kelly offers to try and get a confession out of him, but Sara thought that moving out would give him a shock – make him realise what he stood to lose.
"I don't think he cares" |
“But I don’t think he cares – I think I’ve made things easier for him.”
Kelly reports that she has not seen anyone go in there, and advises, “The first thing you have to do is get your facts straight. I will keep an eye out, and let you know if I see anything dodgy.
"I'll help you castrate him!" |
“And if he is having an affair, I’ll help you castrate him!”
"We don't expect you to come home every night" |
In the Deri, Dai tells DJ, “We don’t expect you to come home every night – it’s only natural for you to stay out with a girl every now and then.”
"You have to be fair with Sara" |
DJ again alleges that he was playing poker, and Diane says that their main worry was that he was not in work yesterday afternoon. He has to be fair with Sara, as she is under a lot of stress.
“Do you know anything about this business with Sara and Jason?” DJ asks them. Dai answers that if he could drag Jason out, perhaps he could knock some sense into him;
Dai finishes his pint – and look who has arrived |
then he has to leave, as walls do not plaster themselves.
Her stare at him . . . |
Gwyneth comes into the pub and looks at DJ,
. . . leaves DJ feeling uncomfortable |
who is very embarrassed.
The teachers are back from their reconnaissance |
Hywel comes out of the door of Cysgod y Glyn, meeting Gaynor and Tyler, who are back from their expedition.
"I could take the pupils anywhere I wanted" |
“When I was teaching, I could take the pupils anywhere I wanted,” recalls Hywel, and Gaynor maintains that he would not last a day in the profession now.
He reports that Ffion has just left, after he checked the windscreen washer and oil for her,
"I'm looking after the house while she's away" |
and he is looking after the house for her while she is away.
Jason appears to be searching for something |
Jason is checking through a box of papers when there is another knock at the door; this time it is his mother, and she threatens not to move until he lets her in, which he does.
"What's wrong, love?" |
“Why have you locked yourself in like this?” she demands, and surveys the dishevelled state of the house; “What’s wrong, love?” she asks, “Whatever you’ve done, you can tell your mother.
"You're in some kind of trouble, aren't you?" |
“You’re in some kind of trouble, aren’t you?”
He insists that it is nothing he cannot sort out himself;
"I just need a bit of time, Mam" |
he just needs a bit of time, but his mother is very concerned,
"I'm going to make something for lunch" |
and is adamant that she is going to make him something for lunch – after they have done some tidying up.
"Right, I can get back to work, then" |
In the Deri, Hywel reports to DJ that the Awyr Iach computer is back up and running, so DJ is about to head there,
"I was expecting you to offer me a drink" |
but is ambushed by Gwyneth, who says she was expecting him to offer her a drink to thank her for breakfast.
Tyler is enjoying this |
Tyler is conveniently situated to overhear this conversation, as DJ points out they both drank too much yesterday. “We could do the same again today, if you want,” Gwyneth suggests,
"I just want to be left alone" |
but he just wants to be left alone. “I enjoy a bit of a challenge – I’m not one to give up easily!” she warns him.
"You were making a big mistake!" |
Tyler cannot resist coming across and remarking, “Won’t leave you alone, will she? I could have told you that you were making a big mistake!” and DJ hurries off to Awyr Iach.
At the bar, Ed comments to Gaynor that no-one has seen Britt since last night;
"Colin's very worried about Britt" |
“Colin phoned me – he’s very worried about her,” she says,
"If I went away, no-one would miss me!" |
“If I went away tomorrow, no-one would miss me!” Ed mentions that 500 school children and their teachers would miss her.
"Missing Ffion already?" |
As she leave, she passes Hywel and remarks, “Missing Ffion already? Are you texting her?”
"Is it any of your business?" |
He is of the opinion that it is none of her business, but she goes on, “I heard that you kissed her last week. You’re both very fragile at the moment – it would be easy to rekindle things for the wrong reasons. I don’t want Ffion to get hurt – or you.”
Hywel cannot believe what he is hearing |
Hywel is quite taken aback by her attitude.
"Be honest – are you having an affair?" |
Over their lunch, Diane asks who this Sandra is; “There’s no use denying it – Sara’s seen the messages on your phone. Be honest with me – are you having an affair?”
"No – she's hassling me!" |
Jason again emphatically denies this, explaining that Sandra is hassling him, but he is not interested; “It’s Sara I love – and Ifan!”
"My wife and child have left me, Mam!" |
“Why are you in such a state?” is the next question, and he answers that his wife and child have left him. Diane cannot understand why this has happened; “Why have things deteriorated between you so quickly?”
He will not say anything except that he will sort it out in his time; “But this is affecting the whole family!” his mother protests. He did not think things would go so far,
"Are you in financial bother?" |
and she suspects he is in financial bother.
"The money's back in APD's account" |
“I’m not – check APD’s accounts if you want – the money’s back in there!” he assures her.
She begs him to tell her what is wrong, but he does not answer.
"Sort yourself out – for all our sakes!" |
She snarls, “Sort yourself out, Jason – for all our sakes!” and marches out of the house.
Anita visits number 7 . . . |
Anita is knocking on the door of number 7, and tells Tyler that she is unable to contact Siôn;
. . . in the hope of getting Harri's phone number . . . |
“I was wondering if Iolo had the phone number of Siôn’s friend, Harri.”
. . . but Iolo has gone out shopping with Greta |
However, Iolo and Greta have gone out food shopping.
A glaring understatement |
She explains, “We’ve fallen out a bit over this holiday home business, and he’s gone away to calm down.” Tyler assumes that he does not wish to talk to her, and she admits, “I think we’ve both been a bit childish – but it’s nothing we can’t sort out.”
"Iolo is worried about his father" |
Tyler informs her that Iolo is worried about his father, and admits that it is understandable. Anita rages, “You make it sound as if I want him to spend his money on me! Buying Morawel will be an investment for us both!”
Tyler mentions the fact that they have only been together for five minutes, and even he and Iolo have not bought a house together yet.
"I knew this would be a waste of time!" |
“I knew this would be a waste of time,” Anita moans, and walks out of the house.
"Shall we go to the bedroom?" |
DJ visits Gwyneth in the salon flat; “This is a surprise,” she says, “Shall we go to the bedroom?” He begins by stressing that there is no easy way to say this,
"Don't tell me you've fallen in love with me?" |
and she suggests that he has fallen in love with her.
"I don't think I should be in a relationship" |
“No – and I don’t think I should be in any relationship right now,” he asserts. Gwyneth maintains that any normal man would jump at the chance to have what she is offering, but he makes it clear that he does not want it;
"Last night meant nothing to me!" |
“Last night meant nothing to me!”
"There are plenty of men – and women – to take your place!" |
“Don’t worry, DJ, there are plenty of men – and women – to take your place!” she assures him, and he is glad they understand each other. He turns down a drink to celebrate, and she hands him back his fleece, which he left behind.
He turns and leaves the flat |
As he goes, a look of regret is visible on her face.
"They're treating me like the wicked witch!" |
Kelly arrives at number 10, and is told by Anita that Iolo and Tyler are treating her like the wicked witch. “Well, it wasn’t a good idea to put in an offer without telling Siôn,” Kelly says,
"You've made things ten times worse!" |
“You’ve made things ten times worse by not telling him.”
Anita protests that she has done her best to contact him, and will not withdraw the offer;
"I don't want to lose it!" |
“I don’t want to lose it!” Kelly points out that it is the only way to avoid all this quarrelling.
"Why are you so negative?" |
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you so negative?” demands Anita, “Don’t you want your aunt to be happy before it’s too late? I want this, Kelly! For once, Siôn has to give in to me!”
Kelly is amazed by her aunt |
Kelly looks stunned.
"What is wrong with people?" |
Gaynor informs Hywel that Tyler told her about the kiss, and he wonders what is wrong with people; “The last thing Ffion and I want is someone spreading rumours around.”
Gaynor thinks he overreacts |
Gaynor deduces that something must be going on, judging by his reaction, but he insists, “Esther and Rhys are all that is important to me! I don’t want a relationship with my ex – and make sure Tyler knows that!
"In any case, it's none of your business!" |
“If anything was going on between me and Ffion, it wouldn’t be any of your business! Are you jealous of Ffion? Stop poking your nose in – stop trying to sort out other people’s lives,
"Your life's not perfect, by a long shot!" |
“your life’s not perfect by a long shot!”
