31 October 2018

Eileen remains on the ground . . .
Eileen is still lying on the ground in front of Penrhewl,
. . . in considerable pain
in considerable pain.
Eifion is in a state of turmoil . . .
Eifion drives along the road, looking rather troubled, and realises what he should do;
. . . then looks round . . .
he looks round
. . . at Bobi and Arthur
at the boys in the back seat, then stops and reverses the car.
Colin draws the curtains
In the Deri, Colin is preparing cocktails, and Britt tells him to close the curtains to get a more spooky effect.   He admits that it does look good in there;
"The best Hallowe'en ever in the Deri!"
“The best Hallowe’en ever in the Deri!” Britt boasts.
Colin worries about Health and Safety
Colin does not know what Health and Safety would say about all the candles, but she points out they are battery-operated.
'Fright Night Fever' pleases Britt
He invites her to try his cocktail, ‘Fright Night Fever’, which she says is perfect.   At that moment,
"You look as if you have seen a ghost!"
Garry comes in, and Colin comments that he looks as if he has seen a ghost.   Britt asks him what he thinks.
“I think you’re off your head!” is his considered reply, but Colin points out that she has done a lot of work here,
"There are loads more pumpkins in the kitchen"
and apparently there are loads more pumpkins in the kitchen.   Garry protests that he cannot take people seriously when they are wearing hats like that.
There is a special menu for tonight, but Garry goes off upstairs;  Colin insists, “He will love it later on – guaranteed!   He has had a bit of a shock, that’s all.”
"Well, I'm going to enjoy myself!"
Britt does not care what he thinks, but is determined to enjoy herself.
Eileen is startled by a sudden noise
Anita is doing the washing-up when she hears a crash,
She finds a broken mirror on the floor
and discovers that a mirror has fallen off the wall and smashed;  she can see no reason why this has happened,
She is becoming scared
and looks around to see if anyone is there.   Worried, she makes a phone call.
Eifion arrives back at Penrhewl
Eifion arrives back in the farmyard, and he immediately phones for an ambulance;
He calls for an ambulance
“Penrhewl Farm, off Llanarthur Road in Cwmderi – a woman has collapsed – she’s pregnant!   It’s pain from the baby.”
"The ambulance is on the way, Eileen"
He assures Eileen that they will sort things out, and the ambulance is on the way.
She screams that the baby is coming,
He helps her to her feet
and manages to struggle to her feet with him supporting her;  they make their painful way inside the house.
"Megan and her God squad have saved the day!"
In the shop flat a celebration is going on;  “Megan and her God squad have saved the day!” says Sioned.
"We'll drink to that!"
Rhys proposes a toast, “Get lost, Anita!” and Mathew will drink to that.   Rhys has found some Hallowe’en masks,
"I'm not keen on this Hallowe'en nonsense"
but Mathew says he is not keen on this Hallowe’en nonsense.
Rhys thinks he sounds like someone who is afraid of the dark, and when Mathew goes to the Tyler,
"Do you want me to come with you?"
Sioned asks, “Do you want me to come with you?”
"I could get used to being this close to you"
Rhys says he could get used to be this close to Sioned, and they both don the masks,
Mathew gets rather a fright
waiting for Mathew to come back, at which point they jump out on him, causing some alarm.
"You'll be thanking me when the till is full"
In the Deri, Britt demands, “Garry, can can you help me, please, instead of turning your nose up?   You’ll be thanking me when the till is full.”
Colin has the special Hallowe'en  menu
Colin has just printed the special menus, and Garry is not impressed by pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, pumpkin soufflé;
"What's pumpkin surprise, then?"
“What’s pumpkin surprise?   Something without pumpkin in it?”   Britt tells him that it depends on how much time she has to prepare it.
"We shall be eating pumpkin until Christmas!"
Garry complains that they will be eating pumpkin until Christmas.
Britt assures him that she is not spent a lot;  “Apart from the cocktails, that is,” and Garry concedes that it might be a good night.   Then she realises that she has not invited anyone, and neither has Colin.
"You're not fit to organise anything!"
“You’re not fit to organise anything, are you?” scoffs Garry,
Colin is about to become a star of Instagram
and she decides to take a photo of Colin, drinking a cocktail, and put it on Instagram.
Britt is feeling excited . . .
“A warm invitation to the Deri’s Hallowe’en night,” she types on her phone, and is now going to put on some make-up, as she is feeling excited.
. . . but 'excited' is hardly the word to describe Colin
Colin, however, can hardly be described as looking excited.
"No witch, no curse, nothing to do with Hallowe'en!"
Kelly has gone to number 10, and checked it inside and out;  she reports to Anita, “No witch, no curse, nothing to do with Hallowe’en –
"It must have been just a draught"
“the bathroom window was open, so perhaps it was a draught – there is no other explanation.   It’s a bit disappointing really.”
As she clears up the broken glass, Anita reminds her that a broken mirror brings bad luck;
Inevitably, Kelly cuts her finger
Kelly inevitably cuts her finger on the glass, which Anita says proves her point.   “Seven years, so they say!   You see, it’s starting already!”
"She's more comfortable now"
Eifion informs the ambulance service that Eileen is more comfortable now, and when he asks how often are the contractions, she replies, “Too often!”
"It's all right, Bobi, she's hurt her leg"
Bobi comes in to check on Auntie Eileen and is told that she has hurt her leg;
He is sent back upstairs
he is sent back upstairs to play with Arthur.
"Can you hurry?"
Eifion begs the ambulance crew to hurry, as Eileen is screaming with pain;
"You have to see if the head's coming!"
she tells him, “You have to see if the head’s coming!”   He protests that he cannot look up there.   “What does it matter?   I thought you were gay!” she squeals, and then the phone signal is lost.
"The baby's coming now!"
“This baby’s coming now!” Eileen advises him, and he assures her that they will get through this together.
There is nothing to alleviate the pain
She also screams that she wants drugs, but of course there are none;
"I've pulled lots of lambs, Eileen"
Eifion tells her to try and relax, but his comment, “I’ve pulled lots of lambs,” does nothing to ease her fears.
"It's not supposed to be born for another five weeks!"
The baby is not supposed to be born for another five weeks, but it appears the baby has other ideas.   Eifion gets out his phone.
Jim does not look particularly happy
Jim is sitting in the Deri, and Siôn arrives for a whisky;
Siôn declines a pumpkin surprise
Garry asks, “Are you sure we can’t tempt you with the pumpkin surprise?”   Siôn likens Jim to Frankenstein’s monster,
"It's just childish nonsense!"
and he in turn describes Hallowe’en as childish nonsense.
"You look like an idiot!"
Britt now has a green face, and Garry says that she looks like an idiot;  she replies, “You look like a boring middle-aged man!   It’s a bit of fun – a lot of thought and work has gone into tonight.”   Garry adds that it has also involved a lot of time and money.
Jim has a phone call from Eifion
Jim is surprised by an incoming call from Eifion, which he ignores;  then Britt wants to talk to Garry about next week, but straightaway he says, “No!”
She reminds him that it will be bonfire night, and they can have sparklers and toffee apples, with fireworks outside, which would bring in the punters.
"We could make more soup from the pumpkins"
“We could make more soup from the pumpkins,” she suggests,
"Sparklers are a Health and Safety nightmare!"
but he points out that sparklers are a health and safety nightmare.
“Anyway, I’m still waiting for people to turn up tonight – we won’t make much profit with only Siôn here,” he grumbles, but she is sure that people will turn up when they see the invitation on Instagram.
Jim is accosted by masked figures
As Jim leaves the Deri, the three masked revellers jump out on him, with bloodcurdling screams;
"You're worse than children!"
“What’s wrong with you?   You’re worse than children!” he rages.   As he hears the sound of a siren in the distance, he wonders, “What’s that?   Another poor dab you’ve scared, is it?”
He gets in his car
Mathew predicts that they will be off Jim’s Christmas list.
Sioned says there is no way she is walking to Bryntirion to scare DJ and Non;  “Not in these heels!”
Mathew has a flash of inspiration . . .
Mathew has a flash of inspiration,
. . . and they walk along the street
and they head along the street.
"This display puts the café in the shade"
Kelly comes into the Deri, and remarks, “This puts the glow-in-the-dark pumpkin in the café to shame.”
"Yes, very . . . Hallowe'eny!"
Looking Britt up and down, she adds, “Very . . . Hallowe’eny!”
She is still sad about Catatonia . . .
She tells Siôn that she needs cheering up, after the tragic news about Catatonia,
. . . which Siôn did not know about
Megan’s cat.
Anita is sitting quietly at home
Anita is sitting quietly at home, watching the television, when there is a knock at the front door;
She goes to the front door . . .
as she goes to answer it, there is also a knock at the back, and she begins to feel uneasy.
. . . but then is shocked by the face at the back door
When she approaches, a hideous face manifests itself through the glass.   She screams, grabs her phone and in a panic calls for Siôn.
"She thought she was having visitations from the other side"
In the Deri, Kelly asks Siôn, “Did Auntie Anita tell you about the mystery mirror smasher?   She thought she was having visitations from the other side.”
"OK, Anita, I'm on my way!"
His phone rings, and he is immediately summoned by the panicking Anita.   He rushes off, telling Kelly that she has had another scare.
"This will put hairs on your chest!"
Britt invites Kelly to try a pumpkin Daiquiri;  “This will put hairs on your chest!” a prospect not welcomed by Kelly.
"Have you noticed anything odd about Britt?"
Garry asks Colin if he has noticed anything odd about Britt;  “Nothing more than usual,” is the reply,
"Her behaviour is too upbeat!"
but Garry thinks that her behaviour is too upbeat.   “I think Britt’s great these days,” Colin assures him, “The old Britt is back, I would say.”
Kelly considers this a trifle weird
As Colin returns to the bar, Britt feeds him a cherry on a stick, which Kelly finds perplexing.
"It was probably children"
Siôn has conducted a thorough search of the back garden, and locks the door as he comes in;  “There’s no-one there – it was probably children,” he suggests,
"No, Siôn, they were as tall as me!"
but she insists that they were as tall as her.   “Well, whoever they were, they’re not there now,” he says, but she puts on her coat.
"Who would want to frighten a woman on her own?"
“I don’t understand who would want to frighten a woman on her own,” she wails, and he remarks that it was probably a joke that went too far.
"I'm not staying here!"
However, her mind is made up that she is not staying there on her own, but she is coming to Y Felin, and is eager to get out of the house.
This trio are watching them
Her three assailants are watching from the end of the street as she and Siôn leave the house.
"Don't you think you're overreacting?"
Siôn considers that Anita is overreacting, but she is certain that if she stays there she will not sleep a wink.
Sioned comments to Mathew, “The more I get to know you, the more I like you.”
Siôn and Anita get into the car . . .
They go into the Deri, as Siôn and Anita get into the car to drive to Y Felin.
. . . but someone appears to be watching
Someone appears to be watching from the corner of the street near Bethania.
The ambulance crew have dealt quickly with the situation
The two members of the ambulance crew have finished their work and are about to leave when Jim comes rushing in;  “Eileen!   What’s happened?   Are you all right?”
"Someone here wants to meet you!"
Eileen replies that she is now;  “But there is someone here who wants to meet you!”
Eifion hands over his new son
He turns to see Eifion with the new baby, and is handed his new-born son.
"I've got a little boy!"
He is absolutely thunderstruck;  “My son?   I’ve got a little boy!   Is he all right – he’s weeks early.”
"Well, he screamed his head off when he arrived!"
Eifion reports that he screamed his head off when he arrived, and Eileen thinks he is like his father – stubborn and doing whatever he wants.
"Welcome to the family, boy!
“Welcome to the family, boy!” says Jim.
