Colin visits Maes-y-Deri
Colin comes to Maes-y-Deri to ask how everyone is;  predictably, they are all shocked by yesterday’s turn of events.
"Non gets cold feet all of a sudden"
“Everything was ready for the op, then Non gets cold feet all of a sudden,” says Kath, “She ran away from the hospital.”
Josh remarks that no-one would do that without good reason,
"She must have a reason"
and Colin agrees with this.   Kath thinks differently;  “Everyone knows it wasn’t easy for her, but why did she get our hopes up?”   Colin warns against being too hard on her, but Debbie considers her act to be unforgivable.   Mark has not said much, but she can tell that he is disappointed.
"I'll kill that girl when I see her!"
“I’ll kill that girl when I see her!” Debbie exclaims, “This isn’t her home any more!”
Non returns . . .
Then the front door opens – Non has returned,
. . . but receives a frosty reception
but receives very hostile reception from the family;  Colin thinks that it is time he went.
"I want you out of here today!"
Debbie snarls at her, “I want you out of here today – your things are ready, in bin bags.   You stay there and I’ll fetch them.”
"I'm not leaving until this afternoon"
In the Deri flat, Carol is asleep, and Garry insists he will do the washing-up, as he is not leaving until later this afternoon.
"I don't want you to go"
Dani does not want him to go to the car show, but he assures her he will be back on Monday.   “I’m sure that Carol will keep you busy,” he says, but Dani points out that Carol will miss him.
She manoeuvres him to the sofa . . .
She kisses him, and drags him
. . . and he does not resist much
towards the sofa.
"I don't want to see you here again!"
Debbie brings down the bags and tells Non she does not want to see her there again;  “I know that you’re angry with me – what I did was terrible, but I really am sorry!” Non insists.   They all stress that she has let Mark down ‘big time’, but she wants to make up for it.
"You're not going anywhere near Mark!"
Debbie does not want her anywhere near Mark, but then he comes downstairs;
"Just two minutes of your time, Mark"
Non asks for just two minutes of his time, and then she will leave.
"You don't have to go"
“You don’t have to go,” he replies,
"Oh yes, she does!"
which raises objections from Debbie.   “Right, everyone out, please – I want to talk to Non!” he tells them, “Out, I said!   And take these bin bags back upstairs while you’re at it!”   Debbie is adamant that she is not going anywhere, but again he asks her to go.
"I'm so sorry, Mark!"
Mark hugs Non, who says that she is so sorry.
"Pint, please, Mathew"
Colin goes to the Deri for a pint, and Mathew asks how Mark is;  he would not like to be in Non’s shoes.
"She was the best chance they had"
“What are they going to do now – she was the best chance he had.”
"I just lost control"
Non explains that of course she was nervous, but she was all right until she got the hospital, then she just lost control.   She could not think clearly, she could not breathe, it all just became too much.
"I couldn't stop imagining the operation"
“I couldn’t stop imagining the operation – the doctor opening me up – I could feel the knife cutting me.
Mark is horrified
“I want you to understand, Mark – the pain was so real, I couldn’t bear it any more.   But worse than that, I was sure I was going to die – I saw myself as a corpse –
"Mam died while having an operation
“Mam died while having an operation.”
Mark is devastated, as he had no idea.   She thought she would be able to deal with it,
"You're not to blame at all"
but he points out that she is not to blame at all.
“You’re in no state to do something like this – if I’d known that, I never would have agreed to it,” he assures her.
"I've even spoken to the counsellor"
She protests that she does want to do it, and has been trying to prepare herself;  she has even spoken to the counsellor who comes to the school.
“But being there on my own yesterday was just . . .”
"You don't have to go back to the hospital"
Mark urges her to forget all about it;  she does not have to go back to the hospital.   However, she replies that she has been back this morning, as she had to try again.   She explained the situation to them, and told them she was trying to deal with her demons.
Dani's and Garry's moment of intimacy . . .
Dani and Garry are cuddling on the sofa when
. . . is disturbed by Mathew
Mathew walks in, much to Dani’s embarrassment;  “Knock next time!” she growls.   He reports that a barrel needs changing and he cannot leave the bar.
"You just have left the bar!"
“You just have!” Dani snaps.
Garry thinks it is rather a laugh
Garry regards the incident as amusing, but Dani definitely does not.
Non continues that they could not give a date, but were willing to do all they could get the wheels in motion again;
"There is still a chance"
“There is still a chance,” she says.   Then Ricky walks in, demanding,
"Do you know what you've done?"
“Where have you been?   Do you know what you’ve done?” he shouts.
Mark encourages him to calm down, pointing out that it is not Non’s fault;
"Non's got some kind of phobia"
“We think she’s got some sort of phobia, but there is a chance to try again.”
"We have to see what the psychologist thinks"
Non explains that a psychologist has to agree, and if they think she is ready, she can have the operation.
She knows she has let them down, but it was out of her control;  “I know it will be hard for you to trust me again.”   Mark stresses that she needs them all to support her;  they have to help her through this fear.
"Go and fetch your Mam and Gran"
Then he tells Ricky to go and get his mother and Gran from upstairs;  Non promises not to let Mark down this time.
Vicky has good news from Mark
In the Deri, Vicky receives a phone call from Mark, and informs Josh and Colin that Non has a chance of trying again.
"Same again, please, Garry"
Josh maintains this is a good reason for another pint.
"I sent him to change a barrel half an hour ago"
Vicky wonders where Mathew is;  Garry sent him to change a barrel half an hour ago,
Vicky finds him lurking by the stairs . . .
but she discovers him by the stairs;
. . . having been ogling photos of Dani
she does not know he was looking at photos of Dani on his phone.
"Are you OK, Mathew?"
She asks if he is OK, as she can tell that something is wrong.   He snaps that he is fine,
In view of his attitude, she walks away
and as soon as she walks away, is looking at the pictures again.
"If she hadn't run away . . ."
At Maes-y-Deri, Debbie is still complaining, “If she hadn’t run away, this rigmarole wouldn’t be happening!”
"Non is still here, you know!"
Mark reminds them that Non is still here, and Kath says that they are very grateful for what she wants to do.   There is a knock on the door, and Dani comes visiting;
"She's lovely – just like her Mam!"
Mark comments on how lovely the baby is.
Garry enquires if Mathew has changed that barrel, as there is still some problem;
"Sorry I snapped at you, Vick"
Mathew apologises to Vicky for snapping at her, and she reminds him that he said he would make more of an effort.
"Why are you always behaving like this?"
“Why are you always behaving like this?” she demands, “Tell me what’s wrong.”
He comes up with the excuse that he is stressed after all the Christmas shifts, but she sees through that one.
"Garry's been having a go at me"
Then he says that Garry is always having a go at him on the sly;
"I think I need a break"
“I think I need a break, OK?”
"Next time, turn the pump back on!"
Garry returns from the cellar, irritably reminding Mathew to turn the pump back on next time he changes a barrel.
Vicky finds a suitable break for herself and Mathew
Vicky picks up a flyer from the bar, advertising the Plas Cwm Du Hotel.
"I have to go, Josh"
Colin receives a text from Non, and leaves for home.
"Everything is going better than expected"
Dani tells Kath that everything is going better than expected with the baby;   Debbie recalls that everything was going fine for her until Ricky developed his first tooth at four months old.
"Do you have to talk about me?"
He objects to her talking about him like this.   “Garry’s doing his fair share,” Dani confirms,
"Garry's going to a car show this weekend"
“And speaking of him, I had better go – he’s going to a car show this weekend.”
"Glad thing have worked out – in the circumstances"
Out by the front door, Debbie tells Dani, “I’m glad things have worked out for you, in the circumstances – you and Mathew.
"I found the DNA letter"
“I found the DNA letter – there’s no use denying it.   Be grateful that Mathew isn’t the father – that would have destroyed Vicky!
"I would have made sure you paid for that!"
“I would have made sure you paid for that!”  Dani is looking panic-stricken by this time.
"There we are – chamomile tea!"
At the chip shop flat, Non asks if Colin has any chamomile tea, to settle her nerves.   He has been worried about her;
"It's a big step, putting yourself through all this"
“I was a bit concerned until I heard you’ll try again.   It’s a big step, putting yourself through all this I hope you’re not doing it because Kath and Debbie are putting pressure on you.”
She has been for a chat at the hospital
She assures him that she had returned to the hospital before coming back this morning, and he hopes that it all works out.   “It’s still not 100%, you know, but I really want to help him.
"I have to be confident"
I just have to pray, and be confident I’m strong enough.”
"The special offer finishes this weekend"
Vicky is in the caravan, telling Josh about her plans for a break with Mathew.   “The trouble is, the special offers finish this weekend – I want to go tonight for one night, I don’t want to ask Mam or Kath to look after Nicky.   You would be doing me a great favour if you could babysit.”
"Well . . . yes, OK!"
Josh thinks that he can probably manage that.
"No wild parties while I'm away"
Garry is just leaving;  “No wild parties while I’m away,” he warns Dani, but she is very quiet.
The malign figure of Mathew is always in the background
“You don’t want me to go, do you?” he says, as Mathew watches from behind the bar, “It’s only for the weekend – I’ll be back on Monday.”
"I must go, Dani"
She insists that he must go, and Garry asks Mathew  to keep an eye on her while he is away.
"Why didn't you tell me that Debbie knows?"
She calls Mathew away from the bar, and, by the stairs, asks him, “Why didn’t you tell me that Debbie knows?
"Why can't you be straight with me for once?"
“Why can’t you be straight with me for once?”   He replies that he did not want her to worry.
Vicky hears the sound of raised voices
Vicky comes into the pub and overhears them talking;
"If the truth comes out that I suspected . . ."
“Well, I am worried,” Dani protests, “If the truth comes out that I suspected you were Carol’s father, Garry and Vicky are going to find out!”
"I told Vicky I love her"
As Mathew informs her that he told Debbie he regretted what happened, and that he is in love with Vicky, Dani hopes that Debbie will not tell anyone, or their lives will not be worth living.
Vicky is devastated by what she has heard . . .
In a terrible state, Vicky rushes from the pub,
. . . and runs off along the street
and runs along the street in floods of tears.
