4 January 2018

"Why didn't you wake me?"
Elgan comes downstairs and tells Gaynor that she should have woken him;
"You obviously need the sleep"
she replies that he was fast asleep, and obviously needs the sleep.
"I'm looking at therapists specialising in PTSD"
She is looking at a website about therapists specialising in PTSD;  “There’s no need,” Elgan replies,
"I'm going to make a cup of tea"
and he shuffles off to make a cup of tea.
Tyler calls to see Kelly at number 10;  “Is everything all right?   I havent seen you for days,” he says,
"I've been helping Auntie Anita"
and she answers that she has been helping Auntie Anita to pack.   “And keeping a low profile perhaps?” he goes on.   Kelly suspects that everyone is talking about it.
"Why did I throw myself at Ed like that?"
“Oh, Tyler, why did I do it?   Why did I throw myself at Ed like that?   I’m so embarrassed!”   He tells her to forget about it,
"Come out with Iol and me"
and to come out with him and Iolo tonight.
"I'm not drinking anything!"
She agrees but stresses that she is not drinking anything.
"Yes, Sheryl, I've packed everything"
Anita comes downstairs, talking on the phone;  she assures Sheryl that she has packed everything for Wil, and will phone when she gets there.
"And you've checked and double-checked"
Kelly makes sure that Anita has checked and doublechecked everything.
"Have you told her, then?"
“Have you told her, then?   That you wont be here when she gets back?” enquires Tyler, but Kelly replies that she has not been accepted for voluntary work yet.   “You might to be on the other side of the world when she gets back,” he goes on.
"I have to put some distance between Ed and me"
“I don’t want her to stop me from going,” Kelly insists, “I have to put some distance between Ed and me,” and she is sure of that.
"Come on, Macs!"
Ed is attempting to take a photo of Siôn, Iolo and Macs, with Greta, but Macs appears to be busy with his phone;
"That's better!"
after one satisfactory photo,
"Have you heard from your solicitor?"
Siôn asks him if he has heard from his solicitor.   Iolo is surprised that Max wants to fight for the right to see Arwen more often.
"I'm sure Ffion will object"
“I’m sure that Ffion will object to whatever the solicitor says,” predicts Iolo, and Macs tells him if she would be reasonable, there would be no need for court.   He really thought that she would warm to him after he saved Ifan.
"Oh – you went into the fire to impress Ffion?"
“Right – so that’s why you went into the fire – to impress Ffion?” Iolo remarks.   Siôn hopes that one day Ffion will realise that Macs has changed.   “There’s no point in feeling sorry for yourself.” says Iolo.
"I can't find my passport!"
Siôn looks troubled;  “I cant find my passport!”
"I feel as if the walls are closing in"
Elgan, still in his dressing gown, is drinking tea, as Gaynor prepares to go out.   “I haven’t been out of the house of days,” she comments, “I feel as if the walls are closing in.”
"Sorry I'm so boring"
He apologises for being so boring, but she tells him, “You’ve done so well over the last few weeks, and I shouldn’t put pressure on you to talk.
"You should be able to talk in your own time"
You should be able to talk, in your own time, when you’re ready.”
“Is that what it says on your computer?” he asks, and she insists that she is trying her best to understand what he is going through.   “You’ll never understand,” he sighs, but she is adamant that she does not want him to fall at the last hurdle, after doing so well –
"I don't have the skills to help!"
but, unfortunately, she does not have the skills to help him.
"Please don't go without me"
Elgan tells her to wait, and he will come with her;  “Please, don’t go without me – stewing in this house won’t do me any good.”
A rather unusual view, down the stairs
He goes upstairs to change.
As Siôn searches frantically under the sofa, he tells Iolo that he thought the passport was with the ticket,
Panic sets in at Y Felin
“Perhaps it went in the recycling!”   Tyler points out that the bin lorry has just collected the bags.
"Did you have to clear away the Christmas things?"
Siôn shouts at Ed, “Did you have to clear away the Christmas things today?   I shall have to cancel now!”
"It's on its way to the tip now!"
Macs points out that it has to be here somewhere, but Siôn rages, “It’s on its way to the tip now!”
"Your carriage awaits, Auntie Anita"
Kelly informs Anita that her carriage awaits, and is told not to get upset, or Anita will start crying.   “Upset?” Kelly exclaims, “I cant wait to get rid of you –
"Wild parties every night!"
I’m going to have wild parties here every night!”
"You can have Ed over any time you want"
Anita suggests that she can have Ed over any time she wants, but Kelly declines this offer;  “He wouldnt accept the invitation, anyway.
"Don't look back – move forward!"
Im not breaking my New Years resolution – dont look back – move forward!”
John Post is waiting outside
They go outside to the taxi, driven by John Post.
"I was looking forward to travelling with you"
Siôn and Macs arrive, and Siôn tells her that his passport has gone missing;  “I won’t be able to meet you in Canada after all.”   She was looking forward to travelling with him.   Kelly warns that she will miss her flight if she does not get a move on.
Macs has noticed something
Macs notices Ffion and wishes her congratulations on her engagement;
"You have no chance of getting access to Arwen!"
She informs him. “Just so you know, I’ve talked to my solicitor, and you have no chance of getting access to Arwen.   And you would have to pay a fortune in costs.”
"Why are you being like this, Ffion?"
He demands why she is being like this, as he just wants them all to be friends, and to see her occasionally.   I am worried about her.
"The only person you care about is yourself!"
“The only person you care about is yourself!” roars Ffion,
"Go to America with your father!"
“Why don’t you go to America with your father, and find someone there to start a family with?   Just leave me alone!”
Off goes Anita to the airport . . .
The taxi leaves from outside number 10,
. . . and Macs slinks away
while Siôn and Macs walk slowly back to Y Felin.
Ed goes to the Deri
Kelly turns and sees Ed going towards the Deri;
"Go after him, Kel"
Tyler remarks that he looks more lonely that she does, and advises her to go after him.
Elgan and Gaynor walk through the woods
Somewhere out in the woods, Gaynor and Elgan are walking;  “Well, you were right again,” he says,
"Fresh air makes a world of difference"
“Fresh air does make the world of difference.   It’s true what they say about doctors – that they make terrible patients!”
Gaynor says that things are looking up
They stop by a lake, and Gaynor thinks that he is getting better;  “You’ve stopped drinking and you’re definitely sleeping better.”    He replies that he is still having nightmares, seeing those little children, and the fear in their eyes before the mortar struck.
"It was an impossible choice"
“But it was an impossible choice,” she points out;  he maintains that he made the wrong choice, because Tim was going to die anyway.   “Elgan, you have to stop punishing yourself, and think of all those children and people you’ve saved, as a doctor,” Gaynor continues.
"What would have become of them, if . . ."
“That doesnt justify letting three innocent little children die,” he answers, “I wonder what would have become of them if they hadn’t . . . We had better carry on or it will get dark.”
"You could go through the bags"
In the Deri, Garry advises Ed to go to the recycling centre, and ask if he can go through the bags.   “It would be easier finding a needle in a haystack!” is Ed’s reply.   Garry says that Dani will not let him take down the trimmings, as she reckons it is unlucky,
"She won't notice if I take the cards down"
but doubts if she will notice if he just takes the cards down.
"Hiya, Kelly!"
Kelly walks in, and after hesitating, wishes Ed a Happy New Year;
"Yeah, go on then – twist my arm!"
he offers to buy her a drink, and asks if she did anything exciting on new Year’s Eve.
"I watched TV with Auntie Anita"
“Watched TV with Auntie Anita,” she replies.
"Does anyone recycle Christmas cards?"
Garry asks if anyone recycles Christmas cards,
"Anita takes them to Apêl Maenan"
and Kelly says that Auntie Anita takes them to Apêl Maenan;
"I didn't think of that!"
“I didn’t think of that!” exclaims Ed, “I have to go!”
"There's not much hope – and it would cost a fortune!"
At Y Felin, Macs has received bad news from his solicitor;  “Ffion was right – theres not much hope, and it will cost a fortune!   I could go and see her in school next week, if she’s back.”
"They wouldn't let you through the gates'
Siôn is doubtful if they would allow him through the school gates.
"Have the Christmas cards gone to Maenan?"
Ed bursts in, asking if they have taken the Christmas cards to Maenan;  he finds them on the dresser,
"Hallelujah!"
and in a matter of seconds locates a passport, which Siôn greets with, “Hallelujah!”
"Check if there is a spare seat on the flight!"
Then he says that they will check to see if there is a spare seat left on the flight;  Macs regards this as running away, but his father points out, “It’s just a holiday, that’s all.   It would be company for me, and Huw would love to see you!”
"Let's take the shortcut back"
As they continue their walk, Elgan would prefer to take the shortcut home;  he does not think that he can walk much further.   “I would like to get back to the surgery before it closes.   I’m going to ask for more time off – it’s not fair for you to shoulder the burden.
"I need professional help, don't I?"
I need professional help, don’t I?   That’s the only way I’m going to recover.   I can look at the research you did this morning.”
"I found the Veterans' Gateway site"
Gaynor says that she found a website, Veterans Gateway, who can refer him to the right people,
"That's a start, isn't it?"
and he says that it is a start.   They walk on together.
Kelly calls to see Tyler
Kelly calls on Tyler to find that Siôn is there,
"Macs is coming with me"
on the phone to Anita, who has just reached the airport;  “There was a spare seat on the plane, so Macs is coming with me,” he says.
"Can you stand a month with the old man?"
Iolo wonders if it is the right thing to do, going away for month with the old man, but Macs admits that he would only do something stupid if he stayed here.   He adds, “When you see Ffion, tell her I’m not going to court – and that I’m no threat to her.   And let me know how Arwen is.”
He looks at Tyler, and remarks, “You’re lucky, having your own family.”
Tyler takes a selfie
Tyler takes a selfie of them all,
Kelly makes a furtive exit
while Kelly quietly leaves.
Elgan leaves the surgery

Elgan comes out of the surgery, and informs Gaynor that he has been granted extended leave –
"Yes, I did tell them why I wanted the time off"
and he did tell them why he wanted the time off.   She is very pleased, and he tells her to go on to the Deri, where he will join her in a few minutes.
He looks at the Combat Stress website
He looks at a website, Combat Stress, on his phone, and clicks on a link, ‘Grayham’s story.’
"We're going to celebrate"
Gaynor sees Ffion in the Deri;  she is there to book a table, and is happy that Arwen is getting better.   “She wants to go back to school next week.”
Gaynor is pleased that Ffion will be back at school,
"We can support each other, then"
and says they can support each other.   Then Elgan comes in,
"I haven't seen you for a while"
and Garry remarks that he has not seen them for a while;  Elgan replies that he has not been very well over Christmas.
"It's been a difficult year for me"
“As you know, it’s been a difficult year for me, with everything, but I’ve been looking at places where I can get help.
"Thanks to Gaynor, the New Year is looking better"
Thanks to Gaynor, the New Year is looking better already.”
"I'll e-mail you a CV"
Tyler goes over to number 10 see Kelly, who is on the phone to the charity to which she applied;  “Thank you for letting me know – Ill e-mail you a CV, and I look forward to meeting you.”
"They seem really keen"
She tells him that they want to see her, and although it is only an interview they seem really keen.
"I promise to buy you a drink this time"
Ed arrives, to apologise for leaving her in the Deri earlier;  “Do you fancy going out?   I promise to buy you a drink this time!”   She responds that she is good enough for him now that Siôn has gone.
Ed tries to explain . . .
He explains that Siôn’s passport has gone missing,
. . . but Kelly has 'things to do'
but she informs him that she has things to do.
He leaves, rather dispirited,
"Why did you do that, Kelly?"
and Tyler asks why she did that;  she says that there is no point, and that she should not have listened to him.
"I have to e-mail a more detailed CV"
“Anyway, I have to e-mail a more detailed CV to the charity.”   He wonders if she really wants to go abroad, as it is a big step.
She sits down at the laptop
“I need a fresh start – not more false starts,” she explains, “So please don’t try and put me off.”
Ed is alone in Y Felin
Ed returns to Y Felin, which is now deserted;  he throws his keys on to the table, and turns on some music,
He sits on the stairs
then sits down at the foot of the stairs, looking very morose.

"You got an upgrade?"
Kelly has been contacted by Anita;  “Upgrade?   That never happens to me!   Large gin and tonics all the way, then.
"Yes, I'll be waiting for you"
Have a safe journey – yes, I’ll be waiting for you.”
The e-mail is sent
She sends her e-mail,
Kelly sits quietly . . .
then sits quietly and alone in the house,
. . . and so does Ed
as does Ed at Y Felin.
