3 April 2018

Garry is roused from his stupor
There is a loud hammering on the door of the office in the garage;  Britt shouts at Garry, who is asleep at the desk.   He gets up and stumbles towards the door to let her in.
"This place is full of alcohol fumes!"
“Good grief, Garry – this place is supposed to be full of car fumes, not alcohol fumes!” she shouts,
The bottles and cans will give a clue to the answer
“How did you get yourself into such a state?   No wonder Dani wants a divorce!”
"No-one wants a divorce!"
He continues to insist, “No-one wants a divorce!” but she tells him he is kidding himself, and this is not helping.   “Dani won’t talk to me now,” he groans, and Britt does not blame her, especially with that showdown with Mathew the other day.
"I can't remember the last time I saw you sober!"

“I can’t remember the last time I saw you sober!” she exclaims, but he points out that he does not want a lecture;
"I just hope she will come to her senses"

he just cannot see the way out, and concludes that the only hope he has is that Dani may come to her senses,
"Someone should talk to her"
and that someone (meaning Britt) should talk to her.
“She’ll listen to you – come on – you’re my one and only hope!” he begs, and she agrees, on one condition;
"You must sort yourself out – today!"
that he sort himself out, today.   Britt slams the door on her way out,
The slamming door upsets Garry's head
which makes his headache worse, then the phone rings.
Mark and Ricky are back
Mark is back at the café flat, attempting to ring Garry;  “How am I supposed to fix this car if Garry won’t answer the phone?” he asks Ricky,
"Just go over and see him, Dad"
who replies that he could just go over and see him.
"Can't you go?"
Mark would rather that Ricky went, but he is in the middle of revising, and reminds his father that he cannot hide in here for ever.   “You haven’t ventured out of that door all weekend – we’ve both been stuck in here like a couple of sardines!”
Mark replies that he has been told he must have plenty of rest;
"You're scared of bumping into Gran!"
“You’re scared of bumping into Gran, aren’t you?” declares Ricky, who cannot revise in his bedroom as Vicky’s stuff is everywhere, and there is no room for his things.   “I’ve left a couple of books at Maes-y-Deri,” he says, and Mark warns him not to let Kath see him.
"That fence needs a coat of paint"
Siôn has been inspecting the garden at number 7;  he tells Iolo that there is a lot of weeding to do, and the fence needs a coat of paint.
"How's the garden at Y Felin these days?"
Iolo replies, “And what state is the garden at Y Felin in these days?   You haven’t been spending much time there!   You’ve been too busy planting the seeds of love!”
Siôn says there is no need to be ashamed;  he and Anita have been enjoying themselves.
"I'm more impressed with Anita than your last one!"
Iolo comments, “I’m more impressed with Anita than your last one!   Just don’t rush into anything too quickly, OK?” and is assured that they are taking things very slowly.
"When will you go back to college?"
Kath asks Non if she will be going back to teacher training after Easter, but she has not contacted the college yet;  “To be honest, I’m not sure if I want to carry on with the course.”
Ricky silently creeps in
Ricky quietly sneaks in through the front door and looks at a couple of books on the sideboard.
"You could get yourself a job to earn a decent wage"
“There’s no point forcing yourself, is there?” says Kath, “You may as well go out and get a job to earn a decent wage.”   Ricky has not found the books he was looking for, and explores further,
But Ricky drops a book
but drops one with a thud, which attracts Kath’s attention.
"You're supposed to be in Spain!"
“What are you doing here?” she squeals,    “You’re supposed to be in Spain!”
Ricky explains that they broke down on the M4, and he and his father came back early on Saturday;  “Mam is allowed to fly, so she went to the airport –
"We came home on the tow  truck"
“but we came back on the tow truck.”
Non admits that she already knew about this,
"I've been worried sick all weekend"
and Kath complains, “I’ve been worried sick all weekend, while you knew the score?”
Then there is another surprise
Then the door opens again, and Vicky and Nicky are also back.
"I hope you've really been in Spain!
Kath is pleased to see them, but demands, “Tell me that you’ve been to Spain, and haven’t been hiding under my nose in Cwmderi!”
Vicky replies that she could not stand living with her mother, a sentiment with which Kath wholeheartedly agrees.
"You can live here!"
Vicky is not happy when she hears that Mark and Ricky are now living in the café flat, but Kath tells her she can live here at Maes-y-Deri.
"No, Dad is cooking tonight"
She also tries to tempt Ricky with the promise of chicken curry for dinner, but he says that his father is cooking dinner tonight.
"Can I sit down a minute?"
Dani is in the café when Britt locates her;  “Can I sit down a minute?” she asks,
"I'm on the way to the solicitor"
but Dani is just on her way to see her solicitor.   “I don’t want to interfere, but things seem to be moving so fast,” says Britt,
"Isn't it a bit early to involve a solicitor?"
“Isn’t it a bit early to involve a solicitor?   We all know that they’re the only ones to benefit in the end.”
“I need to move on!” Dani replies, but Britt thinks she should slow down a bit, so she can really consider what she is doing.

"Has Garry asked you to talk to me?"
Dani can see through her straightaway;  “Has Garry asked to you to talk to me?”
"I've never seen him so low!"
Britt maintains she has never seen Garry so low – he is desperate and she is worried about him.
"I dont want to punish Garry"
Dani assures her, “I’m not intent on punishing Garry – I won’t drag him through the courts either – all I want is for us to behave like adults in this separation.
"I want him to be there for her"
“He’ll always be Carol’s father, and I want him to be there for her as she grows up.   I’ve thought it all through – and that’s how I know it’s the right thing to do.”
"I'm worried that he will never be happy again!"
Britt is just worried that Garry will never be happy again, as he still loves Dani, but she points out that love is not always enough;  “I’ve been hurt so badly, you know that – I can’t take any more – I can’t, for Carol’s sake!
"I don't want to lose you as a friend"
“I don’t want to lose you as a friend, but I understand that blood is thicker than water.”   Britt insists that Dani will always be a Monk, and so will the little one.
Ifan has gone to bed
Sara has just put Ifan to bed, and composes a video on her phone, to send to Jason;
"I miss you, and so does Ifan"
“I miss you – and so does Ifan.   I hope we manage to Facetime before long.
"I love you!"
“I love you!”
She posts the video
She looks exhausted.
"Non is considering giving up her course"
Mark is upset when he is told by Ricky that Non is considering giving up her course;
This angers Mark
“We all get fed up with things sometimes, he snarls, “I’m sure you want to throw your schoolbooks out of the window, but do you don’t, because you want to do well in your exams, don’t you?
"Non wants to find some sticking power!"
“Non wants to find some sticking power!”
"Gran thinks she should look for 'a decent job'!"
“Gran thinks it’s a good idea for her to look for work,” says Ricky, “She said that it was time for Non to find a decent job.”
"Mam wouldn't know a decent job if it fell on her head!"
“Mam wouldn’t know a decent job if one landed on her head!” replies Mark, grabbing his coat to go and confront his mother.
Britt brings disappointing news
Britt returns to Garry and tells him that there is nothing to say;  Dani has made up her mind, and she wants a divorce.
"She's trying to teach me a lesson!"
He, however, again stresses, “She only thinks she wants a divorce – she’s trying to teach me a lesson!   I know Dani – she knows as well as I do that we belong together!”
"No, she's not playing games!"
Britt points out that she is not playing games;  “She has thought long and hard about everything, and she has made her decision – for Carol’s sake.”
Garry shouts that he is Carol’s father;
Garry has the audacity to blame Britt
“I send you over there to knock some sense into her head, and you come back here, on her side!”
"You can't control people, Garry!"
Britt replies that he cannot control people, and that is why he pushes people away.
"I just want her back!"
“I don’t want to control people – I just want her back!” he growls.
Mark tells his mother a thing or two
Mark is shouting at his mother, “You have no right to tell her to give up her course!”
"Oh, they're off again!"
Non, who is listening with Vicky, grimaces as Kath replies that she is only being supportive, and insists that they stop arguing.
"You're always poking your nose in other people's business!"
“You’re always poking your nose into other people’s business, Mam!” he goes on, and she informs him that if Non wanted his opinion, she would have asked him for it.
Non is even more confused now, and Mark accuses his mother of messing up all of their lives.
"You don't live here any more!"
She snarls, “Let me remind you that you have no right to throw your weight around – you don’t live here any more!”
"Can't you cool down a bit?"
Vicky appeals to them both to cool down.   “Do you realise how horrible he has been to me lately?” Kath demands, “And what about the money you owe for the bills?”
"I don't live here any more – remember?"
Mark immediately responds, “Stuff your bills – this is your house!   I don’t live here any more – remember?”
"Has Carol been OK?"
Dani returns to number 7, apologising for being so long, and asks if Carol has been OK.
"It could be sorted out within a few months"
“The solicitor said it could be sorted out within a few months,” she says, and then her phone rings.   “It’s Garry,” she tells Iolo, rejecting the call,
"Garry's got a good heart"
“He’s finding it hard, but he’s got a good heart.”
"He's just a thug!"
Iolo is of the opinion that he is nothing more than a thug, drunk, shouting and will not leave her alone;  “You could have reported him for harassment.”
"I've got a strong case for cutting Garry's access"
Dani says that the solicitor maintained there was a strong case for cutting Garry’s access to Carol, if that is what she wanted.
"I don't want anything more to do with her!"
Mark tells Ricky, “It’s impossible to talk to her — I don’t want anything more to do with her!   Sorry you’ve been caught up in all this.”
"You'd soon be fed up with Paella and Tortilla"
Mark has a pile of sandwiches and there are some sausage rolls.   “You would soon be fed up with Paella and Tortilla if you were out in Spain,” he comments,
"This is the café's leftovers!"
but Ricky finds the bread is rather stale, and realises that they are yesterday’s leftovers from the café.
"There are some cakes as well"
“There are some cakes as well,” his father informs him.
"We need decent meals"
“Look Dad, I know you’re doing your best, but we need decent meals – and I need a place to revise where I get peace and quiet,” Ricky tells him,

“Perhaps it would be best if I moved back to Maes-y-Deri.”
"Not after the way your grandmother's behaved!"
“Not after the way your grandmother’s behaved!” Mark replies, but Ricky says that it is not about him and Gran.   He can revise in the attic – because that is what is best for him.   Mark apologises for being unfair to him, and Ricky goes to pack, again.
"I like that video you posted!"
Ffion visits Sara, and says she likes the video she put on the Internet earlier – “The one that you put on Jason’s wall – it was public, everyone can see it.”
Sara is devastated
Sara is devastated, as she thought she had done it privately,
"It's lucky it wasn't anything worse!"
and Ffion laughs, “It’s lucky it wasn’t anything worse!   A lot of people have liked it – you never know, maybe you’ve started something!”
Ricky appreciates his cooked meal
Ricky has just enjoyed a proper cooked meal at Maes-y-Deri, and Kath points out that he needs decent food when he is working so hard for his exams.
"If you're not too busy being chased by 'what's his name'"
She also suggests that Non could tutor him for the exams – if she is not too busy being chased by ‘what’s his name’.
Vicky is intrigued . . .
This intrigues Vicky,
. . . so Kath explains the circumstances
and Kath tells her about the ‘night to remember’ which Non had with DJ in the Deri.   Non makes no comment,
"Are you sure that you're all right?"
but Ricky asks if she is OK now, after that dating business, and she replies that she is fine.
"Tell him I don't want to see his ugly mug!"
“Don’t forget to tell your father you had nice food with Gran,” says Kath, “And tell him I don’t want to see his ugly mug here until he is ready to say sorry!”
"I can't see that happening"
Ricky cannot see that happening,
"Is there anything we can do?"
but Non wonders if there is anything they can do.
Garry lurches along the street
Garry staggers along the street and knocks on the door of number 7;
"I don't have anything to say to you!"
Dani opens the door, and as soon as she sees who it is, exclaims, “I don’t have anything to say to you – go home, you’re drunk!   Look at the state of you!”
"Can't we sort things out?"
As he pleads, “All I want is the chance to talk to you – it’s not too late, Dan!   Can’t we sort things out?”
"Leave now, Garry, or I'll call the police!"
Iolo wants him to leave now, and warns that he will call the police.   Garry tries to force his way in,
The door is slammed in Garry's face . . .
but Iolo manages to slam the door,
. . . sending him sprawling
sending Garry sprawling into the road.   When he picks himself up,
He hears Carol crying . . .
he hears the sound of Carol crying,
. . . and sees Dani upstairs
looks up and sees Dani in the bedroom.
He lets out an earsplitting scream . . .
He lets out a scream of anguish,
. . . and makes his unsteady way home
and sets about staggering unsteadily back to the Deri.
