3 September 2018

"One for Dadi – one for Seren"
Garry is giving Seren her food;  “One for Dadi – and one for Seren,” he says, encouragingly.
"Have you thought any more about the holiday?"
Then he asks Dani, “Have you thought any more about the holiday to America?   It would do us a power of good.”
Dani is still undecided
She is still far from sure.
“I hope you don’t think I’m insensitive, but I’ve had to start looking for another mechanic for the garage – I have to think of the business,” he continues,
She looks concerned . . .
but Dani is looking increasingly concerned.
. . . and reveals she has a letter from Gethin
She shows Garry that she has received a letter – from Gethin – and he urges her not to read it.
"A room full of teachers will be as bad as children"
Gaynor is in a panic, getting ready for school, and tells Elgan, “After six weeks of holiday, a room full of teachers will be just as bad as children.
"I'm moving into Dad's house"
Rhys come in to collect the rest of his stuff, as he is moving into his father’s house;  he wants to be there in case Hywel decides to come back.   He said that he would contact Rhys but has not done so yet.
"He'll be back when he's ready"
Elgan is sure that Hywel will need to adjust, and will be back when he is ready;  Rhys insists, “I know what he needs, but I still want to see him.   If I don’t hear from him today, I shall go looking for him – I’ve got a couple of ideas where he might be.   Let me know if you hear anything.”
Rhys volunteers to take Esther to playgroup
Gaynor has to go, and asks Elgan to get Esther ready for her;  he is not keen and Rhys volunteers to do it, and to drop her off at the playgroup.
"Gethin sent this the day of the funeral"
Garry has put Seren back to bed, as Dani looks quizzically at the letter and declares, “He didn’t send this from prison.   According to the postmark, he sent it the day of the funeral.   That means he had no intention of confessing – not face to face anyway.
"There's only one way out of this"
“Listen to this – ‘I can’t live without Sheryl, and can’t live with what I’ve done.   There’s only one way out of this – so when you read this, I won’t be here any more.   Sorry, Dani.’”
She exclaims, “So he was going to disappear and let me pick up the pieces!”   As Garry warns her not to get upset,
"I'm not upset – I'm furious!"
she protests, “I’m not upset – I’m furious!   You were right, you know –
"This is all his fault!"
“why should I feel responsible for Gethin?   This is all his fault!”   Garry is glad that she agrees with him at last.
Garry had forgotten about the beer delivery
Then there is the sound of a horn sounding outside and he sees that it is a beer delivery, which he had forgotten about.
"I won't be long, Dani"
He assures Dani he will not be long;  she continues looking at the letter and pondering,
She rips up the letter
then tears the letter into tiny pieces.
Tyler suffers from 'first day back at school' nerves
Tyler is also preparing to return to school, and informs Iolo of what he must and must not do for Greta, but is reminded that Iolo has done this before.   “Once you’re back there, it will be like you’d never been away,” Iolo tells him,”
"I've got to be there in ten minutes!"
then Tyler realises he has only ten minutes to get to get to school, and hurries off.
The banner is still there at Hywel's house . . .
Kath goes with Julie to visit Hywel’s house, but as there is no answer to their knocking;
. . . but no-one answers the door
“Perhaps he has not come home yet – or does not want to see anyone,” Julie suggests, so Kath knocks again, and shouts Hywel’s name.
"Is your Dad back yet?"
Then they see Rhys approaching, and ask if his father is back yet;
"You were quick to point the finger!"
he emphasises that Julie was very quick to point the finger before the truth came out, and she expresses her regret for that.   “The right person is in jail now,” Kath adds, “And that’s what matters.”
Julie had wanted to sort out Sheryl’s possessions, but Rhys says that he did it on Saturday;  his father had started to do it before he was arrested, and all Sheryl’s things are now in the salon.
Rhys hands over his father's salon keys
“That’s the last thing he’d want to do when he comes home,” he tells them.   He hands over Hywel’s keys to the salon.
Ffion is rather uneasy . . .
At school, Ffion is looking rather uneasy;
. . . owing to the letter she has received
we can see why when she takes from her bag a letter addressed to her in Gethin’s handwriting, but shoves it back when she sees Gaynor coming.
"If you don't feel ready to come back"
“If you don’t feel ready to come back, I understand,” Gaynor assures her,
"It's better here than sitting at home, thinking"
but Ffion would rather be at school than at home, thinking.   “I’m sure that Hywel is all right,” says Gaynor, hopefully, then starts the staff meeting,
Gaynor calls the meeting to order
welcoming them back, and remarking on how fresh they all look.   They will be discussing the GCSE and A-level results, and setting clear targets and objectives for the forthcoming term.
The screen appears to be suffering the 'scourge of Microsoft'
It looks as if the screen is playing up.
Tyler rolls in late
Tyler arrives late and expresses his apologies;  Gaynor gets him to distribute the documents to the staff.
"You'd think he would have more respect!"
In the salon, Julie cannot believe that Rhys stuffed everything into bin bags;  “You’d think he would have more respect!”
They hear unearthly noises from upstairs
Then they suddenly hear a thud upstairs, and suspect burglars – or something more supernatural.
"Who's there?"
Kath marches out to investigate, shouting, “Who’s there?”
"I live here – I'm the new tenant!"
and the door opens to reveal Gwyneth, who advises that she lives here;  she is the new tenant.
"It's not long since you were thrown out!"
Kath is sceptical about this claim, as it has not been long since she was thrown out, but Gwyneth describes that as a misunderstanding;
"Erin Medi was quite willing to let me stay permanently"
“After I explained the situation to her, Erin Medi was quite willing to let me stay here permanently.”
“I really was sorry to hear about Sheryl,” she says, but Julie replies that she did not bother coming to the funeral.   Gwyneth considered it wiser to stay away, and supposes that Julie will want to remove Sheryl’s belongings from the flat;
"No, I can't face that!"
she is reluctant, so Gwyneth offers to to do it for her.
Kath warns Julie to watch her, but Julie suggests that she might not be all bad;  Kath is quite adamant, “Oh yes, she is!”
Tyler has got the screen working again
At school, Gaynor announces that they will have a coffee, then one more presentation before an early lunch.
Again Ffion looks at the envelope
Ffion takes the unopened letter from her bag and looks at it again.
"Rather a lifestyle change for you"
Gaynor comments on it being a lifestyle change for Tyler, and he receives a call from Iolo, but does not answer it,
"We must get used to me being back at work"
saying that he must get used to being back at work.   Gaynor tells Ffion that she regrets going to the wake at the Deri, after all that went on.
"It's Hywel this, Hywel that!"
Meanwhile at the Deri, Elgan is moaning to Garry, “All I’ve had this weekend is ‘Hywel this, Hywel that’!”   Garry replies that Gaynor cannot be blamed for worrying about him, but Elgan feels as if they are out of touch with each other.
"I saw Sofia the other day"
“I saw Sofia the other day – I got in touch after something you said – you talked about regrets, and making amends before it’s too late.   She just turned up.”
"No wonder it's not going well with Gaynor"
Garry thinks it is no wonder that things are not going very well between him and Gaynor,
"I haven't told her yet"
but Elgan admits he has not told her yet;  he was waiting for the dust to settle after recent events.   Garry asks how it was between them, after all these years, and is told it was as if those years had not existed.
The thought of Sofia makes him smile
Garry tells him that he is grinning like a Cheshire Cat, and Elgan concedes that there may still be a spark there.
"A spark can rekindle a fire!"
Garry reminds him that a spark can rekindle a fire, and Elgan wants to change the subject, asking how things are with Dani.
At Sheryl's graveside . . .
Meanwhile, she is at Sheryl’s grave, saying, “I’m so sorry for what Gethin did to you –
. . . Dani apologises
“I’ll never forgive him, and I don’t want anything to do with him again.   She places a red rose by the photo of Sheryl,
"You went through so much"
and comments, “You went through so much – and you always found a way to get yourself back on your feet, didn’t you?
"I'm so lucky I had a friend like you"
“I’m so lucky I had a friend like you, Sher, and I’m going to make you so proud of me!”
"I love you, Sheryl Hughes . . ."
As the tears flow, Dani adds, “Thank you for everything you’ve done for me – and I love you, Sheryl Hughes –
". . . I'll never forget you!"
“I’ll never forget you.
"That Gwyneth cannot be trusted!"
Kath feels like phoning Erin Medi to check if Gwyneth’s story is true;  “She can’t be trusted!”
Gwyneth brings the stuff from upstairs
Gwyneth comes in with stuff from upstairs and puts it in the back room, and just then, Kath’s phone rings;
"Ready to leave now, are you?"
“Oh, you’re ready to leave now, are you?   I can be up there in a few minutes,” she says, and informs Julie that she has to slip up to Bryntirion.   “I forgot to water the plants, and they’ll wither,” she lies.
"I know you don't think much of me"
Gwyneth comes back in and tells Julie, “Look, I know you don’t think much of me – and I understand why – but I’d like to help you, honest.   Julie agrees, and they begin sorting clothes.
What does Gwyneth find at the top of the bag?
One of the first things Gwyneth finds is an envelope marked ‘will’, and she takes that black bag elsewhere,
"I don't want to get in your way"
so as not to get in Julie’s way.
Julie looks at old photos . . .
Julie is looking through photos of Sheryl, while Gwyneth investigates the contents of the envelope,
. . . while Gwyneth investigates the will
and reads that this is The Last Will and Testament of Sheryl Hughes.”
Gwyneth is once again plotting an evil deed
She adopts her familiar devious, scheming look.
In the Deri, Garry has just served Gwen, and turns to see Rhys,
"Sorry I accused you, Garry"
who apologises that he accused Garry of murdering Sheryl, explaining that he was not thinking straight.
"You didn't stop believing in your Dad"
“Forget it,” Garry tells him, “You didn’t stop believing in your Dad, and I respect that.”   As he draws a pint for Rhys, Gaynor and Tyler come in, and he jokes, “Having a break, are you? Six weeks not long enough for you?”
"Even teachers have to eat!"
Gaynor caustically replies that even teachers have to eat, and Tyler notices he has had five missed calls from Iolo;  Gaynor suspects that he cannot cope.
"I'll go and check with Iolo"
He hurries home to check, and will see her back at school.
Rhys suddenly receives a text from his father;
"I need a bit more time"
“Sorry, Rhys for not getting in touch before now.   I’m fine – I need a bit more time, but I’ll come home soon.”
"All that matters is that he is OK"
Garry maintains that all that matters is that he has contacted Rhys and he is OK.
Iolo and Greta are quite contented
When Tyler rushes home, Iolo and Greta are sitting together on the sofa quite happily, and Tyler is told that the calls were intended to inform him that Greta said, “Dada,” for the first time.
"When I had just gone back to work!"
Tyler finds it ironic that it happened on his first day back at work,
Greta remains stubbornly silent
but despite his efforts, she will not repeat the word.
He has to get back to school, but promises that the three of them can go to the park later;  Tyler is gutted that he missed out.
"A holiday is a good idea"
Dani has changed her tune and tells Garry, “You were right about the holiday – it’s a good idea.   I need to stop feeling guilty – Gethin’s letter has helped me to realise that.”
"I'll book the tickets"
He is very pleased and wants to book the tickets tonight, but she goes on,
"I don't know how to say this, but . . ."
“I’m not sure how to say this, but I want to go on my own – with Seren, of course – but don’t worry, not to America.   I fancy going for a road trip around Britain, stopping in little B&Bs – just for a couple of months.   It would do us good to go somewhere different, after all that has happened.”
Garry is less than enthusiastic at this idea
Predictably, Garry is not exactly enthralled by this, and points out that he had planned to go together, but she insists that she has no choice.
"I need to find out who I am again"
“I just need some space  – to find out who I am again.”
"And you can't do that with me around!"
“And you can’t do that with me around!” Garry snarls, but she insists that this is not about him;  she has to deal with the fact that her brother is a murderer.
"You're not going to change my mind"
“If I’m honest, I don’t know who I am any more,” she pleads, “Do you know how that feels?”   As Seren begins crying, Dani adds, “I’m sorry, but I’m going, and you’re not going to change my mind.”
Garry is indignant
Garry looks seriously disgruntled.
