4 September 2018

Gwyneth is busy with her printer . . .
As a printer produces a page of a will, Gwyneth compares it with the original;
. . . and produces an amended version . . .
unfortunately it appears indistinguishable from the original, except for the name Gwyneth Jones which replaces that of Dani Thomas.
. . . after which the original page is shredded
The original page is consigned to the shredder, and Gwyneth looks extremely pleased with herself.
"She wants to go and 'find out who she is'!"
Garry complains to Britt, “Ever since she got that letter from Gethin, she says she can’t cope with the fact her brother’s a murderer.   She wants to go and ‘find out who she is’!”
"I can understand she wants a break"
Britt can understand that she wants a break, after everything that has happened.
"But what about me – and Seren?"
“But what about me?   And what about Seren – she needs her father,” he moans, “I’ve tried to talk to her, but I’m sure she’s doing this to punish me!   I told her how much Sheryl meant to me.   She said it’s something she needs to do.”
"You just have to accept it, Garry"
He does not appreciate Britt telling him he will just have to accept it.
When Chester helps himself to a can . . .
Chester is about to help himself to a can behind the bar when Garry demands if he has sorted out the bins,
. . . he is given strict orders
and orders him to do it now – and then empty the dishwasher.   “Listen, will you?   For once in your life!” Garry shouts;  Chester turns and walks away.
"What is it with him and not listening?"
“What is it with him and not listening?” he asks Britt, but she considers he was unnessarily harsh;  “You need to sort your son out!” he adds.   She warns him not to punish Chester because of the way Dani is behaving, then stalks outside, where she meets Ffion.
Britt meets Ffion outside
“I’m trying to put all this behind me, as far as I can,” Ffion says, and is told that Dani is finding it so hard to cope that she is leaving.
"Gethin is still messing with Dani's head"
She maintains that Gethin is messing with Dani’s head, even though he is in prison.
“She had a letter from him, admitting to everything,” Britt explains,
Ffion has also received a letter
and Ffion produces the letter she received, which she has still not opened.   Britt’s advice is not to open it,
"He's only after attention and sympathy!"
as he is only after attention and sympathy;  “If he hadn’t been arrested, he wouldn’t be here – he doesn’t have the guts to face anyone.”
"He might have written something different to me"
Ffion thinks that he might have written something different to her, but Britt points out, “It wouldn’t change what he did, would it?   Throw that letter away, Ffion – don’t waste your time on that sly coward!”
Kath's online selling is getting out of hand
At Maes-y-Deri, Debbie despairs over all the stuff Kath has acquired to sell online, and hopes it will not take too long to sell.   Mark stresses that they need every penny,
"That must be seven or eight postcards now"
then finds another postcard from DJ;  “That must be seven or eight now,” he says, and he sees that this one is from Cyprus.
Debbie maintains that she could do with another holiday,
"I've arranged a surprise break for us"
and much to her surprise Mark announces that he has arranged a surprise break for them tonight, and he got a very good deal.
Debbie is excited
Naturally, Debbie is very excited, and tells the good news to Kath, when she comes in.
"We're going to have a night to remember!"
“We’re going to have a night to remember!” Mark predicts.
Kath snatches the postcard . . .
Kath grabs the postcard, only to read it herself.
. . . then it is Non's turn to do the same
Non arrives, via the back door, and wonders, “What’s this obsession everyone has with my postcards?
"DJ and I are not a couple, OK?"
“For the hundredth time, DJ and I are not a couple, OK?”
"How's it going?"
At the salon, Gwyneth asks how Julie is getting on with sorting Sheryl’s stuff;  she is told that there are a couple more bags to go through.
Gwyneth makes sure the faked will is in the next bag
Gwyneth slips the doctored will into one of them, then looks at a photo and comments,
"Sheryl meant a lot to me"
“There was a time when we had a lot of fun together – Sheryl meant a lot to me – it’s a shame we drifted apart.   I wish we’d remained closer friends.”
Gwyneth loiters to watch what happens
Julie starts on the next bag, and inevitably finds the envelope containing the will;  Gwyneth can see that her scheme is working,
"It's Sheryl's will!"
and tries to look surprised when Julie announces she has found the will.
"I need my break now!"
Chester insists that he needs his break now, but Garry reminds him he has not emptied the dishwasher as instructed.
"I'll do it when I'm ready"
Chester says that he will do it when he is ready, but now he is starving.   Garry is adamant that he must put back the crisps he has picked up,
Chester pulverises the bag of crisps
so Chester slams them down in a temper, and Garry describes him as ‘pathetic’.
"You're pathetic!"
Chester turns and confronts Garry;  “Are you calling me pathetic?” he demands;
"Are you calling me pathetic?"
Garry squares up to him him and fisticuffs took possible.   Eifion, who is at the bar, urges them to calm down;  Chester slinks away.
"Remind me, where is your family?"
Garry turns to Eifion and warns him, “Don’t ever interfere in  my family’s business again – do you hear?   Remind me, where is your family?”   This leaves Eifion somewhat shame-faced, and Britt reprimands Garry for his attitude.
"No wonder Chester's the way he is!"
“You Monks, you’re all the same!” is Eifion’s reply, “No wonder Chester’s the way he is!”
Garry challenges him to come and say that to his face,
"You're not man enough, are you?"
adding, “You’re not man enough, are you?”   Britt snarls at him to shut up, as he is really not helping.
Ffion debates what to do with the letter
Ffion stands by the bins and looks again at the unopened envelope;  Eifion is passing, and she tells him that she does not want to read the letter,
"Do whatever helps you move on"
but does not know what to do with it.   He recommends that she do whatever helps her to move on, and offers his cigarette lighter;
Now we will never know what it said
she takes it and sets light to the envelope, then throws it down.
He is about to walk away, but she calls him back,
"I could do with some help, Eifion"
saying that she could do with some help, and he is pleased to assist.  The envelope continues burning away, next to a flattened beer can, in a plastic bucket.
Mark and Debbie leave for their romantic night away;
"It's good that Mark is getting on with his life"
Non comments that it is good that Mark is getting on with his life.   Kath wonders if it is not time for Non to do the same, and she replies that she is going back on the teacher training course.
"Your joints will be crunching before you can turn round"
Kath was not thinking in terms of work, maintaining, “It’s not right for a young girl like you to be without company – your hair will be grey, and your joints will be crunching before you turn round – believe me.”
"It's Sheryl's will"
Then Julie comes in, and Non leaves them to talk;  “It’s Sheryl’s will – all I’ve seen is the date and the title,” says Julie,
"Could you read it for me?"
“I couldn’t read any more – could you do it for me?   Kath is only too willing, and summarises that Sheryl has apparently left everything to Wil.
"Hang on – this isn't right!"
Then she adds, “Hang on a minute – this isn’t right – she’s left the salon to Gwyneth!
"Look – it doesn't make sense!"
“Look, it’s here in black and white – it doesn’t make sense!”   Julie notices that the will is quite old, and Gwyneth did work in the salon a long time ago,
"You want to get it checked by a solicitor"
but Kath advises her to get it checked over by a solicitor.
Julie immediately does so, and while she is phoning,
Kath takes a photo of the will
Kath takes a photo of the will with her phone.   Julie arranges to go and see the solicitor.
"What are we doing here?"
Debbie demands what Mark is doing when he takes her to Bryntirion;  he looks through the kitchen cupboards in search of something nice,
"This is where we're staying tonight!"
and announces that this is where they are staying tonight.   “But you said you were treating me – a night to remember!” she protests, “No way!   I’m not staying here!
"I'm definitely not sleeping in their bed!"
“I’m definitely not sleeping in Dai’s and Diane’s bed!   I thought you were treating me.
"Chateau what-do-you-call-it!"
Mark has found a bottle of ‘Chateau what-do-you-call-it’ with which to celebrate, and she says he is off his head.
"You're turning everyone against you"
Britt asks Chester why he is so angry;  “You’re turning everyone against you,” she says, and he replies that everyone hates him anyway.   Britt assures him that she is on his side, and would do anything for him.   She begs him to let her help him, before he ruins his future.
"What future?"
“What  future?” he demands, and she continues to explain that he has his whole life ahead of him.
"Just leave me alone!"
“I don’t want your help – or anyone else’s!” he rants, “Just leave me alone!”
The expensive sofa gets a good kicking
and he viciously kicks the expensive gold-coloured sofa on his way out of the room.   Britt is beside herself with rage.
"There's something wrong with him, I'm telling you!"
She dashes downstairs and tells Garry, “There’s something seriously wrong with him, I’m telling you!   Who knows what he will do?”   Garry simply points out that Chester is a teenager.   Britt continues.”You having a go at him doesn’t help either!”
"You sort Chester out – I've done my best!"
Garry stops her and growls, “I’m worried!   Dani is packing to go away for three months, taking my daughter with her!   You sort Chester out – I’ve done my best!”
Ffion gets some help with the clearing out process
Eifion is helping Ffion consign Gethin’s belongings to a series of black bin bags;  anything that Gethin bought, she is throwing out.
Kath asks whether this is Ffion's witness signature
She is surprised to receive a visit from Kath Jones, who would like a word with her.   Kath apologises for intruding, but asks whether the signature on her phone, from the foot of the will form is actually Ffion’s.
"Yes – what is the problem?"
She confirms that it is and wonders what is the problem;  “It’s Sheryl’s will, and I’m helping Julie to confirm that it’s all above board,” Kath replies, and Ffion says that it must have been when she was Gwyneth’s lodger some time ago.
"I was drunk most of the time"
Kath leaves, quite satisfied, but Ffion confesses to Eifion that she does not remember much about that time;  “I was drunk most of the time!”
"You got through it, and will do again"
He encourages her, saying that she got through it then, and will do so again this time.   He suggests a cup of tea, if she has not thrown out all the mugs.
Kath knows that Gwyneth is trying it on
As she and Julie come into the Deri, Kath looks askance at Gwyneth;
"The solicitor said there's nothing wrong with it"
she tells Julie that she had to check with Ffion about the will, and Julie says that the solicitor could find nothing wrong with it.   “So why doesn’t he have a copy of it?” demands Kath, and is told that Sheryl got it from the internet.
"Sheryl left the salon to you"
Then Julie goes over to tell Gwyneth the news, while Kath watches her reaction.   “Sheryl left the salon to you,” Julie says,
"I don't know if I can accept"
and Gwyneth affects great surprise, and does not know if she can accept.
"Let me think about it, OK?"
“It’s a huge responsibility – let me think about it, OK?” she tells them,
Kath has her summed up
and Kath looks even more suspicious.
They are very envious of Bryntirion's garden
Debbie and Mark have been out in Bryntirion’s garden, and she says it would be lovely to have a garden like that;  “If only we could afford a place like this,” but he reminds her that it is not bricks and mortar that matter – they have something a lot more important – each other.
"If I met someone with money and a big house – who knows?"
Debbie does not seem to share this sentiment when he adds, “If I meet someone else with money and a big house – who knows?”
"I might change my mind!"
She warns that she might change her mind about making this a night to remember.
Gwyneth says she is absolutely confounded
Gwyneth tells Garry how amazed she is that Sheryl has left the salon to her in the will;

he looks very disbelieving, as she goes on, “She must have written it a long time ago when we were friends, and I’m not sure if I should accept.
He answers that of course she should;  “It’s not only your future that matters, but Gwern’s future too.
"She will definitely accept – you mark my words!"
Elsewhere in the Deri, Kath is quite convinced that Gwyneth’s apparent reluctance is all for show, and she will definitely accept.
"It would be an honour to take over the salon"
At that moment Gwyneth comes over to announce, “I’ve come to a decision – it would be an honour to take over the salon,” and Kath smiles knowingly.   Julie comments that Sheryl would be pleased;  Gwyneth adds, “I’ll try not to let her down,” and walks away.
"I still say you should contest the will!"
Kath is very insistent;  “I still say that you should contest the will,” but Julie maintains that is not what Sheryl would have wanted.
Gwyneth is convinced she has got away with it
Gwyneth is by this time grinning triumphantly.
