Eifion sleeps off last night's overindulgence
At 1:25pm, Eifion is still asleep when Ffion comes into the room for some files;
"You'd better get up before it gets dark!"
“You’d better get up before it gets dark,” she scolds him.   He alleges that he has already been up once, looking for work on the Internet, and that he is going to talk to a few companies this afternoon.
"It's not easy having to smell alcohol"
“Look, I don’t want to moan, but I’d prefer it if you didn’t go out so often during the week,” she says, “And please give the drinking a rest – it’s not easy having to smell alcohol first thing in the morning.   I’ve had a hell of a week, with everything.”
"I'll be as quiet as a church mouse"
He promises to be as quiet as a church mouse, and Ffion goes back to school;
He lapses back into unconsciousmess
then he resumes sleeping.
DJ is studying the engagement ring
DJ is looking at an engagement ring when Dai comes into the house, ranting about Siôn White;
"I could throttle that Siôn White!"
“I could throttle him!   He told the committee members that Eifion shouldn’t be punished!”
"He was provoked, mind!"
DJ points out that there was provocation;  the other player made inflammatory remarks, but Dai continues, “Eifion should not have hit him – he harmed the club’s reputation, so we have to be seen to be punishing him severely.
"The WRU could come down on us like a ton of bricks!"
“The WRU could come down on us like a ton of bricks!   Siôn White and his morals!   Some of us are trying to keep this club on its feet!”
DJ continues his perusal of the ring
DJ continues closely studying the engagement ring.
Ffion is grateful for Gaynor's support
At school, Ffion thanks Gaynor for her support the other day;  “I think the crying helped,” she says.
"I'm not scared of you, Aaron Monk!"
Just along the corridor, Aaron’s enemy taunts him;  “He could kill any one of us – like his father!   Murderer!   I’m not scared of you, Aaron Monk!
"If you want a fight . . ."
“If you want a fight, meet me on the field after school – hes too much of a chicken to fight me!   If you don’t turn up, everyone will call you a chicken for the rest of your life!”
Ed is about to make a delivery
Ed emerges from the café and is about to make a home delivery when he is approached by Sara;  she comes straight to the point,
"Who is Jason having an affair with?"
“Who is Jason having an affair with?   You’re friends, and I deserve to know – I didn’t sleep a wink last night, because I was trying to work it out.”
"As far as I know, he isn't"
At the far end of the alley, Jason happens to be passing, and walks towards them as Ed assures her that as far as he knows, Jason is not having an affair.
"Why would he be so stupid?"
She accuses him of covering for Jason, but he insists, “He is so happy with you and Ifan, why would he be so stupid?”
She warns him not to tell Jason a word,
"What was that all about, then?"
then Jason confronts Ed and asks what it was all about.
"She thinks you're having an affair"
“She thinks you’re having an affair,” he is told, and he thought that all that had been sorted out.
He has acquired an offensive weapon
At school, Aaron’s assailant has equipped himself with a large knife from the cookery department, just in case;  “His father has murdered people –  this is self-defence.”
"Oi!   What's wrong with you?"
Jason marches into Awyr Iach and demands, “Oi!   What’s wrong with you?   Asking Ed on the street if I’m having an affair!   You know what the big problem is here, don’t you? You’re more willing to believe the nonsense of someone you don’t know, rather than your own husband.   That says a lot about our relationship, don’t you think?”
"Yes, perhaps it does"
Sara agrees that perhaps it does;  he maintains that they have to discuss whether they are serious about buying the house, as Gwyneth is continually harassing them.   “You know what, Jason?”
"I don't even want to live with you!"
she replies, “The way I’m feeling now, I don’t even want to live with you, let alone buy a house with you!”
"I'm beginning to feel the same way, Sara"
As she walks out, he mutters that he is beginning to feel the same way.
Jason receives a troubling message
Then his phone sounds and he receives a message which angers him.
In the Deri, DJ has slipped the ring on to his finger, and finds he cannot remove it;
DJ desperately tries to remove the ring
Non arrives, and he frantically attempts to pull off the ring, behind his back.
"What are you doing, DJ?"
She insists on seeing what he is doing,
She finds the ring, firmly attached to his finger
and finds the ring stuck on his finger.
"I was worried you were going to ask me to marry you!"
“I was starting to worry you were going to ask me to marry you!” she tells him,
"Er, it's stuck!"
and he looks very shamefaced;  “You weren’t, were you?” she demands, and he admits that it is stuck.
"I'd better go home and have a bath"
“I’d better go home and have a bath,” Non says, “I’m shattered after school.   Sorry, I wasn’t expecting . . .” and hurriedly leaves the Deri.
"What if he tries to influence people?"
At the bar, Dai objects to the presence of Eifion;  “What if he tries to influence people?”
"He's too drunk to influence anyone"
Siôn considers that he is too drunk to influence anyone, but Dai protests, “You would say that – you want him to get off scot-free.   But that’s not possible – it’s not going to happen, is it?”
"Is there a problem?"
Hearing their argument, Eifion asks if there is a problem;  “Yes – you have no right to be here,” replies Dai,
"Find a cupboard where you can hide!"
“So do the sensible thing and find a cupboard where you can hide, so we can hold this meeting in private.”
"This is a public bar – I'm not going anywhere!"
Eifion was under the impression that this was a public bar, and has no intention of going anywhere.   Dai wants to get the meeting under way, so they can sort the business out once and for all.
Non is deep in thought
Non is lying on the sofa,
"What's wrong, Non?"
and Mark asks her what is wrong;
"DJ asked me to marry him"
she reluctantly replies, “DJ asked me to marry him, but instead of giving an answer, I walked out of the Deri.”
"Well, if you don't want to marry him . . ."
Mark assures her that she should not worry, if she does not want to marry him, but their conversation is cut short when Ricky and Debbie arrive.
"Look, I'll explain in a minute, Debs"
Mark asks if they will give him and Non five minutes’ privacy, but Debbie wants to know what is going on;  he says that he will explain in a minute.
Ed makes his food delivery from Caffi Meic
Ed has delivered the meal to Llwyncelyn;  “You must think I’m very lazy, ordering food like this,” Gaynor comments, and then reveals that she has been having trouble with the trap on the sink.   “Elgan knew what to do with it,” she says.
He attempts to deal with her plumbing problem . . .
Ed has a look at it, and between the two of them, they sort out the problem,
then she wrestles with it
although causing the mixer tap to wobble precariously.
Gaynor's first Caffi Meic delivery
He leaves, to return to the café, and she gets her takeaway.
"Does he want your two to start . . .?"
“Look, there is no easy way to say this, but do you think DJ wants to get married quickly, so that you two can start . . .?”
"Why is everyone obsessed with sex?"
Non wonders why everyone is so obsessed with sex, and assures him that DJ loves her.
"He looked so disappointed"
“You should have seen his face – he looked so disappointed,” she sighs, but Mark points out that if he is not the right bloke for her,
"You must follow your heart"
she must follow what her heart tells her.
“My heart’s telling me that I want to be with him, for ever!” she replies, “But I’m frightened – of a lot of things – perhaps we don’t really know everything about each other.”
"Do you think he's hiding anything?"
Mark comments that nobody ever knows everything about each other, and asks if she thinks that DJ is hiding something.
"I'm not sure I can marry him"
“The last thing I want to do is lose DJ, but I’m not sure I can marry him,” she answers.
"If we don't punish him, the WRU will punish us"
At the rugby club committee meeting in the Deri, Dai explains, “If we don’t punish Eifion, the WRU will punish us – that’s why I’m suggesting a life ban.”
"That's much too harsh!"
Siôn is outraged at this suggestion, insisting that it is much too harsh as he was only defending himself against a homophobic attack.
"I'm surprised at you, Mr Pacifist!"
“I’m surprised that you, Mr Pacifist, are suggesting that fighting under certain circumstances is all right,” replies Dai, but commutes the sentence to a ban for one season.
Siôn seems to have been outvoted by John Post . . .
The other two committee members, John Post
. . . and the other committee member
and a stranger, agree with Dai, but Siôn is not happy about it.
Dai details Siôn to inform Eifion
“Right, you go and tell him,” Dai orders Siôn;
Eifion is advised of the decision
he approaches Eifion and advises him of the decision.
"Call that justice, do you?"
“You call that justice, do you?   I was defending myself!” protests Eifion,
"I'm taking you home, Eifion!"
and Siôn suggests that he should go home;  he threatens to phone Ffion otherwise.
They do not expect Aaron to put in an appearance
On the school playing field, the four boys assume that Aaron is a chicken, but he does actually turn up,
"Come on, then, murderer – hit me!"
and is taunted, “Come on then, murderer – hit me!   Go on!   If you fight dirty, I’m going to use this – self-defence!”
He brandishes the lethal weapon
The boy picks up the kitchen knife, but Aaron knocks it from his hand;
"What's going on here?"
at that moment Ffion appears and demands what is going on.
"He said I'm a murderer because of my father"
“It was him – he said I’m a murderer because of my father,” Aaron tells her.
"What were you thinking, bringing a kniife?"
Ffion is furious;  “I don’t know what’s funny about that, Paul Jameson, do you?   What were you thinking, bringing a knife?   Someone could have died!   Do you want to be expelled?   I want you to sort this out, and I don’t want to hear another word about these murder stories.
"You'll be thrown out of this school – or worse!"
“If I hear that a knife has been used like this again, you’ll be thrown out of this school – or worse!   Get out of my sight – now!”
She is aggrieved to hear that Eifion is drunk – again
Ffion receives a text from Siôn, informing her, “I’m at Cysgod y Glyn with Eifion.   He’s drunk, I’m afraid.”   She looks exasperated.
Non has been asleep
Non has been sleeping on the sofa for about an hour;  “Can I ask you something, Mark?” she says,
"How did you know you wanted to be with Debbie?"
“How did you know you wanted to be with Debbie?”
He does not really know, nor does he think he has ever considered wanting to be with her;
"Not being able to be without her is the thing"
“Not being able to be without her is the thing,” he replies, and she agrees that she feels the same about DJ – she wants him to be there.
"I know what my answer is now"
She decides, “I know what my answer is now,” and very fortuitously there is a knock at the door;
Mark leaves the two of them alone
DJ walks in, and Mark leaves them alone together.
Eifion is unceremoniously dumped on the bed
Ffion angrily tells Siôn to put Eifion in bed, but he mumbles that he wants to watch the television.
"You're not going anywhere, mate!"
“You’re not going anywhere, mate!” exclaims Ffion, “I’ve got enough on my plate without having to sort out someone else’s mess.”
"I hope Aaron is not turning into another Chester"
She explains to Siôn that she caught Aaron fighting with some boy on the school field this afternoon;  “I hope he’s not going to start getting into trouble like Chester.   It’s all connected with the story about Owen, but I’m not going to report it, as I don’t want to draw attention – that’s what’s best for Aaron.”
Eifion is in a drunken stupor
They leave Eifion sleeping it off.
"Well, I'm relieved to hear that!"
“Of course I don’t want to finish with you,” says Non, and DJ is relieved to hear it;
"Do you want to finish with me?"
“Do you want to finish with me?” she asks, and he denies this.
“I just regret what happened earlier, that’s all,” he explains, “It was a silly idea – you saw the ring and then you said you wanted to go home to have a bath.”
"I got it off in the end, with a bit of soap"
She enquires if he has the ring, and he produces it from his pocket;  “I got it off in the end, with a bit of soap,” he says.
"I love you – so I will!"
“I will!” Non suddenly exclaims, “I love you – so I will!
"Or do I have to do it myself?"
“Put it on my finger, then – or do I have to do it myself?”
A mighty cheer from the onlookers
As DJ does so, the door bursts open, with Debbie, Mark and Ricky cheering them.
Debbie is disappointed that he did not go down on one knee, and Mark urges him to do just that;
"Non Mererid, will you marry me?"
assuming that position, DJ asks, “Non Mererid, will you marry me?”
Non wastes no time in replying, “I will, of course!”
Another round of applause
and they kiss.
Eifion is given a glass of water
Ffion brings Eifion a glass of water, and he wonders how long he has been asleep;
"You can't stay  here – this isn't working"
she announces, “You can’t stay here – this isn’t working.   It’s not doing Arwen any good, seeing you like this!”   Eifion maintains that it will not happen again.
"You said that this morning!"
Ffion reminds him, “You said that this morning – and look at you!   It’s too late now – I want you out tomorrow morning!”
"I've got nowhere else to go"
He pleads that he has nowhere else to go,
"You should have thought of that!"
but she replies that he should have thought of that before drinking all afternoon.
Eifion has been reduced to this
He sits on the bed, a pathetic sight.
