"Does it matter?   He's better today"
Britt is still angry about Sara;  “She shouldn’t be talking to my son!” but Garry asks if it matters – as Chester seems better today.   “He’s still letting people think he hit me – but he didn’t hit me – I fell!” she growls.
"Still talking about me?"
Chester walks in, and sighs, “Are you still talking about me?”
"Why did you let everyone think you hit me?"
His mother asks why he let everyone think that, and he replies, “Because that’s what people wanted to hear –
"Chester Monk, the bad boy who hits his mother!"
“Chester Monk, the bad boy who hits his mother!”
Garry is astonished to learn that he did not hit her, but Chester points out, “Whether I had or not, people still wouldn’t like me – I don’t like me!”   Britt tells him not to talk nonsense, and is under the impression that they can start again, now that is sorted.
"Why don't you move back into the flat with us?"
“Why won’t you move back into the flat to live with us?” she asks, “I’ll be there to help you – and Colin.   It’s much better to have your family helping you.”
"All right – I'll think about it"
Chester says that he will think about it,
The unbelievably naïve Britt is overjoyed to hear this
so she gives him a hug, and leaves quite happily, although Garry looks very puzzled.
When asked what he said that,
"Could you think of a better way of getting her to leave?"
Chester replies, “Could you think of a better way of getting her to leave?”
Dai bewails the rugby club situation
Dai and Diane are back home at Bryntirion;  Dai is angry about the mess the rugby club is in, but DJ says the other team started it.   “Good grief – we won’t just get a fine, but a ban as well!   I turn my back for two minutes, and everything goes to pieces!”
"And that's not the only thing . . ."
DJ breaks the news that it is not only the rugby boys;  “Jason had an accident in your car –
"Jason?   Is he all right?"
“he’s all right, and the car’s been fixed, but the police turned up and he was caught over the limit.   He could lose his licence for up to a year.”
"What a fine homecoming this is!"
Diane decides she had better put the kettle on, and Dai groans, “What a fine homecoming this is!”
"Being gay should not be a scandal"
In the shop, Tyler is maintaining that it should not be a scandal these days that someone is gay, but Colin reminds him that they got into quite a scrap on the rugby field.
"At least, now everyone knows he's gay – or bi – or whatever"
“At least, now everyone knows that Eifion’s gay – or bi – or whatever.   He doesn’t have to hide any more, and that’s a good thing.”   Mathew is just wondering how the rugby club will be penalised, and predicts that Dai will go nuts.
"Don't pretend you weren't talking about me"
Eifion has just come in, and comments. “Don’t pretend you weren’t talking about me – everybody else is – online, on the street, wherever – as long as it’s behind my back!
"At times like this, you realise who your friends are!"
“At times like this, you realise who your friends are!”
Tyler insists that they are all his friends;  “Fine, if you want to make a fuss, but you could ignore it and depend on your friends – and appreciate them too.”
"You should appreciate what Tyler is trying to do"
Mathew tells Eifion that he should appreciate that Tyler is watching his back, and they both leave the shop.
"This is where you're hiding, you idiot!"
Dai hurries to APD, where he confronts Jason;  “This is where you’re hiding, you idiot!
"What came over you?"
“Do you know of any local building company who employs a builder who can’t drive?   And what about the company’s good name?   What came over you?”
"It's all sorted, Dai"
Jason admits, “You’re right – I was stupid – but it’s all sorted.   We’ve got Matthew back to drive – he can’t make a mess of that!” then he walks away.
Dai invites Mathew over to Bryntirion
Dai thanks Mathew for coming back;  “After being treated so shabbily by that clown!   Why don’t you come over to Bryntirion tonight?   We’re having a little do to welcome Diane and me back – DJ and Non are cooking.   It will be a way of saying thanks for stepping into the breach.”
"Do you have to go on and on?"
Jason objects to the way Dai is going on and on,
"Did I hear a donkey braying?"
and he replies, “Did someone say something – or was it a donkey braying?   I feel confident enough to go home for a nap now, seeing that Mathew is in charge!”
Jason is stony-faced
Jason is most definitely not happy.
Eifion is horrified by the comments about him
Eifion is studying the laptop at Cysgod y Glyn, and sees something which disturbs him;  then Tyler comes visiting, and says that it winds him up when people act as if being gay is an illness.
"Have you seen some of these comments?"
“Have you seen some of these comments?” Eifion demands, but Tyler closes the laptop, advises him to stop reading them, and to come out for a drink, as he has nothing else to do.
"If you're not there, I'll come and get you!"
“I won’t let you hide here, feeling sorry for yourself – right?   Deri, half past seven!   If you’re not there, I’ll come and get you!”
"Something smells good, Britt"
In the chip shop flat, Britt is cooking fish pie, Colin’s favourite,
"You seem happier today"
and she is in an uncommonly good humour.   She apologises that she has not been in the best of moods since this business with Chester, but she thinks things will turn out for the best now.
"Chester told Garry he didn't hit me!"
“Chester, at last, has confessed to Garry that he didn’t hit me!” she says,
"Chester can say and do whatever he likes"
but Colin points out that Chester can say and do whatever he likes, to suit the occasion.
He maintains that he saw what happened, or at least the aftermath of it.   “I know he is your son, and you’re worried about him, but you have to stop excusing everything he does!” Colin exclaims;
"When you hear him say it, then you'll believe me!"
she maintains that when he hears Chester say it himself, he will know that it is the truth.
"He's considering moving back here!"
“And there is more good news – Chester is considering moving back here to live with us!” Britt announces joyfully.
"Are you mad, Britt?"
Colin is horrified at the prospect, and wonders if she is mad, insisting that he is not allowed to move back there;  “That boy has taken advantage of you, me and half this village – he cannot be trusted!
"I'm not giving in to him this time!"
“I love you, Britt, but I’m not giving in to him this time – I’m sorry!”   She is absolutely furious.
They are ready for their visit to Bryntirion
Kath and Non are ready to go to Bryntirion, and are both looking forward to DJ’s cooking;  “He’s a good catch!” Kath remarks,
"Do you think she has spotted the vase?"
“Do you think Diane has spotted the vase?” and Non points out that the replacement is identical to the one that broke.
“Phone Debbie at the taxi place, to get Mark to pick us up,” Kath says,
"What's the point, if you can't have a free lift?"
“What’s the point of having family working at the taxi place if you can’t have a free lift every now and then?”
DJ is slaving over a hot stove
DJ is busily cooking, while Dai gives a drink to Mathew;
"Jason's working late"
Jason has not accompanied Sara, and she explains he is working late,
"I thought he finished the same time as I did"
but Mathew was under the impression that they finished at same time.
Kath and Non arrive, and Kath is presented with a gift by Diane;
Kath does not know what to say about her gift
“To thank you for looking after this place,” she says, “It’s from Barcelona – be careful – it’s very fragile – you’ll never believe the trouble I had bringing it home.”
When Kath sees that is also identical to the broken one, she can believe how fragile it is, and does not know what to say.
Dani and Seren are down in Cornwall
In the Deri, Garry tells Tyler that Dani and Seren are in Falmouth, and are enjoying themselves.   (So the Seal Sanctuary must have been at Gweek)
"You're late, Eifion"
Eifion arrives, albeit late, and Tyler buys him a pint;  Jason is also there, and has a double whisky.
Jason is not looking forward to dinner tonight
“Dinner at Bryntirion tonight – a night of listening to Dai rubbing my nose in the fact I’ve lost my driver’s licence!”
Eifion expects to be next on Dai's list
Eifion wishes him good luck, and expects to be next on Dai’s list;
"Colin does not want him back in the flat!"
then Britt comes in, complaining to Garry that Colin does not believe her about Chester, and does not want him back in the flat.   “Can you talk to him, Garry?” she asks.
"And tell your wife to keep her nose out!"
Then she turns her anger upon Jason;  “Tell your wife to keep her nose out of other people’s business!”   He has no idea what she is going on about, drinks his whisky and goes.
Dai boasts about being at the captain's table
Around the dinner table, Dai is boasting about their invitation to the captain’s table;  “They know who they’ve got according to the list –
He considers that they are of a higher social class
“they can differentiate between the hoi polloi and the riff raff.
Kath turns her nose up at lobster
“We had lobster, Kath, and then we went on to the bridge.”
"I can't understand where Jason is"
Sara tells Mathew that she cannot understand where Jason is, and Diane presumes he is hard at work, but his food is in the oven, waiting for him.
At last he arrives
Then he finally arrives,
"Have you been drinking?"
and when he kisses Sara, she demands, “Have you been drinking?”
Tyler tells Eifion that he is allowed to smile,
"What have I got to smile about?"
with the answer, “What have I got to smile about?”
"I know what you're going through"
Tyler maintains that he has been through a lot of what Eifion is going through now.
"You have no idea!"
“No, you haven’t – you have no idea,” Eifion replies, “I don’t want a lecture about how perfect you and Iolo are – my situation is quite different.   You don’t have to work among farmers, who are pretty narrow-minded about sexuality.
"You haven't lost two sons"
“Neither have you lost two sons.”
"How are they dealing with things?"
Tyler enquires how they are dealing with things;  Eifion admits that he has not seen them, and is not going to see them, either.   “It’s not Cadno’s fault – I don’t want to – they’re better off without me – they don’t want a father like me.”
"They need their father"
Tyler insists that they need a father, and stresses how selfish he is sounding, but Eifion just does not want to make things worse.   “What can be worse than not seeing your own children?” demands Tyler,
"You need them, more than you realise"
“They need their father – and you need them too, more than you realise.”
"Everyone ready for Tiramisu?"
At nine o’clock, DJ announces he has made Tiramisu for dessert, then Sara’s phone sounds, and she finds there is a message,
Another text unsettles Sara . . .
reading, “Where was your husband tonight?”
. . . and she decides it is time to go home
She decides that it is time that they went home, as they do not want to keep Elinor waiting;
"Gwyneth has been hassling me all week"
she also mentions that Gwyneth has been hassling her all week about the house.
DJ is disappointed that they are going;
"Don't go – I've got a ton of tiramisu here!"
“There’s a ton of Tiramisu here!” he exclaims, then concludes, “Obviously, my Tiramisu isn’t good enough for them.”   Diane senses that all is not well.
Chester is visiting that website again . . .
Chester is back on Dr Rhian Griffiths’ website,
. . . and listening with headphones
and is wearing headphones when Garry walks into the room;
"It isn't cheap, is it?"
“Is this is the type of thing that you did?” Chester asks, “It isn’t cheap, is it?”
"Look, I'll give you the money"
Garry will help him pay for it;  “You can organise it, but I’ll give you the money.”
"Thanks – I couldn't afford it"
Chester is grateful, as he could not afford it, especially if he has moved away.
"I've decided that I have to move away"
He goes on, “I think – no, actually I’ve decided – that’s what I have to do – move away – be by myself somewhere.”
Garry seems amenable to this suggestion
Garry raises no objection.
Eifion looks at the picture of Cadno, Bobi and Arthur
Eifion is looking at a photo of Cadno and the boys in his wallet;  he dials her number.
He takes the plunge, and phones Cadno
“Hiya, Cadno, sorry it’s late,” he says, and smiles.
"I'm shattered, Sara"
Sara comes downstairs after getting Ifan off to sleep, and Jason is shattered;
"Where were you tonight, Jase?"
“Where were you tonight, Jase?” she demands, and again he tells her that he was working.   “The text I received tonight suggests otherwise,” she continues.
"I was working late tonight"
Jason thought that they had decided to ignore those messages;  “I’m shattered, because I was working late tonight – there’s not much more I can do if you won’t believe me.”
"OK, I believe you"
She replies, not particularly convincingly, that she does believe him, and he decides to go to bed.
"Look, I'm sorry about Chester"
In the chip shop flat, Colin is sorry about Chester,
"Try to understand my point of view"
but asks Britt to understand his point of view;
"All I want now is to move on as a family"
she replies, “I do understand, Col, but I also know what happened.   All I want now is for us to move on from this as a family.”   He admits that perhaps he has been rather hard on Chester, but has only been thinking of Britt.
"I hate it when we argue"
“I hate it when we argue – we’ll find a way, guaranteed,” he assures her, and now is going to bed.
"I'll be there shortly"
“Are you are coming?”   She replies that she will be there shortly.
Sara gets another message . . .
Sara hears her phone sounding again, and finds yet another message;  “Hope you have some sleep tonight.   Difficult, with a husband like Jason.”   She looks very suspicious.
. . . but this time we find the identity of the sender . . .
Then we see the phone which sent the message,
. . . none other than Britt!
and discover its owner is Britt.
