17 October 2018

Hywel has spruced the place up
Hywel is looking rather happier, and the room is tidy, complete with flowers and two of Esther’s teddy bears;  he tells Rhys that Julie is bringing Esther over now.
"Lucky we finished the painting"
“It’s lucky we finished doing the painting, then,” Rhys comments, “She’ll love the colour.”
Hywel is feeling quite nervous
Hywel is feeling quite nervous, but his son tells him there is no need,
"She'll be glad to see you again"
as she will be so glad to see him again.
"We're bonkers, aren't we"
Out in the street, Non remarks to DJ, “We’re bonkers, aren’t we?   I’ve never done anything rash – but I don’t regret it – it’s exciting!”
"Not everyone wants to see you two snogging"
Kath comes out of the café and tells them that not everyone wants to see the two of them snogging.
"Family meeting, now, and Maes-y-Deri!"
DJ informs her that there is to be a family meeting now, in Maes-y-Deri;  “We’ve got an announcement to make!”
"Go and round up the Joneses, Non"
Non will go and round up the Joneses, while he fetches his father and Diane.
"I'd say you had a bun in the oven"
“If I didn’t know you better, I’d say that you had a bun in the oven!” is Kath’s interpretation, but Non objects to this.
Colin tries his hand at the Xbox
Colin is playing with the Xbox when Britt comes back;  and he asks if she wants a cup of tea.
Britt says that things are not good between Jason and Sara
Britt is anxious to share the news that things are not good at all between Jason and Sara;
"I hoped that it was just gossip"
Colin was hoping that all this affair business was just gossip.
“No, apparently Sara’s been getting messages telling her what’s going on – they must be from the other woman,” she tells him, gleefully.
Britt seems amused by the whole thing
He feels sorry for Sara, and Britt smirks, “It’s a bit funny, don’t you think?   She walks around the place is if she’s Lady Muck.”
"She doesn't deserve this"
Colin still considers she does not deserve this, especially now that they have little Ifan, as he will be the one who suffers if it is true.
Jason arrives home and believes that Sara is not there;
What is it with this Sandra?
he gets out his phone and calls Sandra’s number.   He leaves a message,
"Phone me back – it's important!"
asking her to phone him back, as it is important, then Sara comes downstairs, after putting Ifan down for a nap.
"I thought I left some paperwork here"
Jason alleges that he thought he had left some paperwork there but cannot find it.
Sara wants him to stay,
"Mam and Dai have disappeared"
but he explains that Mam and Dai have disappeared somewhere;
Sara is hopeful for tonight
he promises that tonight they will spend time together.
At Maes-y-Deri, DJ will not tell the family anything until his father arrives;  Non would have liked Ricky and Debbie to be there as well.
"I've closed APD to come here!"
Diane complains, “I’ve closed APD to come here!”   Then there is a knock at the door and Dai comes in;  Kath hopes this announcement will be worth it, as she is missing ‘Escape to the Country’.
"Nefi wen!   Has somebody died?"
“Nefi wen!   Has somebody died?   Who’s in charge of APD?   Is this more important than our livelihood?” Dai moans.
"Today we've set a date"
DJ begins, “As you all know, we’ve got engaged – but today, we’ve set a date.”
"We're getting married in six weeks!"
Non continues, “We’re getting married in six weeks!”
All but one seem to be happy about it
This gives rise to astonishment all round, but Dai does not share their enjoyment.   Mark is pleased that he already has a suit, and Kath is sure that six weeks is long enough to organise the wedding of the century.
Kath goads Dai, “And what do you think, Dai?   You’re worried you’ll have to pay, are you?”   Non insists that it will not cost him a penny, as she and DJ will be paying, and they only want a small wedding.
"Congratulations"
“Good!” is Dai’s comment, and only after prompting from Diane, does he wish them, “Congratulations,” and that very half-heartedly.
"Haven't you brought Esther?"
Julie arrives, and Rhys is surprised that she has not brought Esther with her;  “You’re not going to make this easy for Dad, are you?   He’s her father!”
"I'm only here to collect Esther's stuff"
Hywel is likewise astonished that Esther is not there, and Julie informs him that she is only there to collect Esther’s stuff,
Hywel is shocked by the revelation
stressing that she will be staying where she is.
Diane gets stuck in to the alcohol
“I love an excuse for opening the bubbles,” says Diane, as Mark pours her  a glass,
"No, I don't want any!"
but Dai refuses a drink.
Mark is rather taken aback by Non's request
Non asks Mark if he will give her away, and Kath remarks that Dyff would be thrilled.
Mark proposes getting some proper champagne, and asks for contributions from all of them, but Non insists that they does not want any fuss.
"Dai will fetch the bottle from home"
“There’s a lovely bottle in our house,” Diane exclaims, “Dai will go and fetch it.”
"I don't understand why there's all this fuss"
He of course objects to this;  “You said we weren’t opening that unless the Queen came to stay!” but Diane considers this a more fitting occasion.   He adds, “I don’t understand why there’s such a fuss about marriage – you’ve only been going out together for a few weeks!”
"The fact I'm happy isn't good enough for you"
DJ is growing angry;  “The fact I’m happy isn’t good enough for you, is it?”   Dai wonders whether getting married will make him happier, and Mark demands if he can just be happy for them.
Dai drones on, “What is it about this place?   Everybody’s desperate to get married – they know each other for five minutes, and bang, there is a ring on the finger!”
"Right, Dai, clear off out of this house!"
Mark has had enough of this, and orders Dai out of the house, warning him that he is not going to spoil Non’s day.
“Don’t worry – I’m going.   Some of us have work to do – come on, Diane!” grunts Dai.
But Diane intends to remain at Maes-y-Deri
Diane decides that she would rather have a top up to her glass,
Mark seems pleased to be rid of Dai . . .
and Dai marches out of the house in disgust.
. . . but Non is rather upset
Non is looking rather upset by this.
"You're just punishing me, Julie"
Hywel is quite adamant that Julie is punishing him, but she points out that last week he did not want Esther;  he complains that she has left his little girl with a stranger.
"Shouting won't sort anything out"
Rhys reminds them that they will not sort out anything by shouting at each other;  Julie says, “I don’t want you to stop seeing her,
"She must have some stability"
“but after what’s happened, she must have some stability.”
“And you’re the one to give her that, are you?” Hywel snarls, but she replies that she cannot trust him, after last week, and they are all grieving, including Esther.
"You failed to do a decent job of raising your own daughter"
“You failed to do a decent job of raising your own daughter – and Sheryl wanted to give our daughter a better start!” growls Hywel.   Julie wonders what Sheryl would say if she knew that he had turned his back on Esther, just like he did with Rhys.
"Rhys was better off with his grandmother"
Julie furiously goes on, “History keeps repeating itself – Rhys was better off with his grandmother, and the same is true now.   You’ve never been a father, Hywel, and you never will be.”
"You gave Esther to me, Hywel!"
He is quite adamant that she will not take his little girl away from him, but she reminds him that he gave Esther to her.   Hywel argues that he was not thinking straight then, but is now, and can do a better job than she can.
Hywel starts making personal comments
“You’re too old to look after a child – look at you – she’s only been with you for few weeks, and you look as if you haven’t slept for months – you don’t have the energy to chase her or play.”
Julie walks out of the house, saying that she came here to try and sort something out;
She threatens him with her solicitor
“I was happy for you to have her overnight, or at weekends – I have tried, but now I have no choice but to go to my solicitor!”
Hywel agrees that it is the best thing to do;
"No judge would allow her to look after Esther"
“No judge worth his salt would allow her to look after Esther!”
"You'll be hearing from the solicitor"
Her response is that he has no chance, and warns that he will be hearing from her solicitor.
"She'll be back before you know it!"
“She’ll be back here before you know it!” Hywel cautions her.
Sara looks at the laptop
Sara is looking at Jason’s Facebook page, and smiles;
Sara receives another text
then she receives another text, which reads, “Jason is working, is he?”   She puts on her jacket and leaves the house.
Meanwhile, in the Deri, Jason has finished his pint and asks for another;
"You look tired, Jason"
Britt remarks that he looks tired,
"APD staff disappeared without warning"
and he complains that the rest of the staff at APD disappeared without telling him.   “Garry is exactly the same,” she says.
"Pint of cider please, Britt"
Colin comes in, and, as he has a free afternoon, would like a pint of cider;
"Someone's left their phone on the bar"
he notices a phone on the bar,
Britt promptly concocts a story
and Britt invents a story of Aaron breaking her phone, so she had to buy a secondhand one.   Then she leaves the bar to collect some empty glasses.
"I was going to pick up Ifan"
Sara discovers Jason, with his pint, and he informs her he was about to pick up Ifan;  she has been to APD and says it looks as if it has been closed for some time.
"I've had more messages!"
“I’ve had more messages!” she tells him, but he insists that he said all there was to say last week.
“I’m going back to work – at least I get some peace there!” he grumbles,
In desperation, Sara replies to the text . . .
and Sara decides to reply to the latest message, telling the unknown sender to leave her and Jason alone.
. . . and Colin discovers it on Britt's phone
Colin, who is still at the bar, hears Britt’s phone sound and picks it up;  he sees on the screen, “Just leave me and Jason alone,” and realises that Britt has been sending the messages.
Britt realises she has been found out
As she looks very guilty,
"You've got some explaining to do – upstairs - now!"
he informs her, “I think you’ve got some explaining to do – upstairs – now!”
Kath recalls she was drunk at her wedding
Kath recalls that at her wedding she was as drunk as could be, and cannot remember saying her vows;  “I was expecting Mark the day I got married – it was the worst hangover I’ve ever had!”
"We don't want a fancy wedding"
Non says they do not want a fancy wedding, but Diane tells them they can have as much fuss as they want because she is paying.
"Dad wouldn't be too pleased, would he?"
Both Non and DJ object to this, as Dai would not be too pleased,
"I don't give two hoots what he thinks!"
but Diane does not care two hoots what he thinks, and Kath gets her another drink.
"You're worried about your father, aren't you/'
“You’re worried about your father, aren’t you?” asks Non, but he does not want to spoil the party.   “Why don’t you go and look for him – he had a shock earlier,” she suggests,
"I'll keep an eye on this lot!"
“I’ll stay here and keep an eye on this lot!”
Kath has found some Cherry Brandy
Kath has located a bottle of cherry brandy, and Diane predicts that she will be falling asleep again.
Jason walks up to Sandra's house
Jason walks up to the front door of a house we have not seen before,
"Lucky for you, I am on my own"
and Sandra opens the door;  “I couldn’t stay away, you see,” he tells her, “Are you on your own?”
"You've been sending all those texts?"
In the Deri flat, Colin demands, incredulously, “You’ve been sending all those texts?   Why?
"Why would you do such a thing?"
“Why would you do such a thing?   It’s so cruel!”   She replies that it is not if Jason is having an affair, and he continues, “You don’t know if he is – and anyway, it’s nothing to do with us!
"You've put Sara through hell!"
“You’ve put Sara through hell!”
Britt blames her for driving Chester away
Britt rants, “Perhaps she deserves it – it’s not her fault that Chester has left, is it?   She pushed him into going away!”
"She did us a favour by not reporting him!"
Colin reminds her that Sara did them a favour by not reporting him,
"I knew you'd take her side!"
and Britt snarls, “I knew you’d take her side!”   He protests that he is just trying to work out what on earth is going on, but she does not want talk about it.
"You have to stop sending them now!"
“Listen, you have to stop sending these texts now!” Colin instructs her, “I know you miss Chester,
"He's a big boy now, and can take care of himself"
“but he’s a big boy now, he can take care of himself.   You have to accept that once and for all!”
"Have you told her yet?"
Sandra brings Jason a cup of tea;  “Is there are any point in asking if you’ve told her yet,” she enquires, and he replies that it is rather difficult at the moment.   “It’s not easy for me either –
It appears that Sandra has revealed everything . . .
“I’ve said everything, and it wasn’t great,” she says.
. . . but Jason wants to wait until it is easier
“I’d rather wait until it was a bit easier, if you don’t mind,” he says, but she points out that he cannot keep it a secret for ever, and asks if he honestly wants to live like this.
"Secrets are part of the excitement, aren't they?"
“Secrets are part of the excitement, aren’t they?” is his answer.
"What's for dinner, Diane?"
When Dai hears the front door, he assumes that it is Diane and asks what is for dinner, and then finds it is DJ;  “I thought you’d still be celebrating.”
"What is your problem with Non?"
DJ considers that it would be a good idea for them to talk first;  “What is your problem with Non?”
"Why are you rushing into marriage?"
Dai maintains that he likes the girl, but does not understand why he is rushing into marriage.   He wants them to slow down a bit.
"I know she is the only one I want"
“Why, if I know she is the only one I want?” DJ demands, and his father wonders if he really wants to be tied down;  he should go out and enjoy himself for a while.
“Why can’t you take me seriously for once?” DJ pleads,
"We've been in this situation before –with Cadno"
and is reminded that they have been in this situation before, with Cadno.
"You're a young bloke, with money in the bank"
Dai goes on, “Look, you’re a young bloke, with money in the bank – I don’t want to see you waste it and then regret it.”
"Typical – only concerned about money!"
DJ shakes his head, disappointed that his father is only concerned about money;  “That’s all that matters to you, isn’t it?   How different you and I are!   I’m going to marry Non in a couple of weeks, not because of how much money I’ve got in the bank, but because I don’t want to live without her.
"I don't care whether you support me or not!"
“And I don’t care whether you support me or not!”
He storms out of Bryntirion, and Dai exclaims, “Crikey, Moses!”
Sara has fallen asleep
Sara is asleep on the sofa when Jason returns;
"Sorry I'm so late"
he tells her he is sorry to be so late, but has been doing paperwork.
"Remember what I promised you this afternoon"
“I haven’t forgotten what I promised you this afternoon,” he says,
"I love you!"
and kisses her, “I love you!”
