"I'm sure there were more bottles here" |
![]() |
Diane is disturbed by the earring she has found |
Dai presumes that it belongs to Sara or Kath from last night, but she goes on, “They were here last night, yes, but not in our bedroom!
“This was under our bed, Dai! The person who owns this has been in our bedroom – and perhaps even in our bed! We’re going to find the person who owns this,
“and I’ve got a few things to say to her!”
![]() |
"This was under our bed, Dai!" |
![]() |
Dai cannot understand all the fuss |
![]() |
Sheryl's – and Meilyr's grave |
![]() |
Hywel has brought flowers |
![]() |
"I told you I'd come back" |
![]() |
How have things ended up like this?" |
![]() |
Siôn approaches |
![]() |
"This is not an easy place to come to" |
![]() |
"I'm sure she needs some help, now the doc has left" |
![]() |
"I hear your father's gone on his travels" |
![]() |
Rhys does not know when Hywel will be back |
![]() |
"Have you spoken to DJ about that earring?" |
![]() |
"I'm up to here, Diane!" |
Diane says she has not been able to find Non anywhere, but Dai cannot understand why she is making such a fuss;
“It’s not as if you were a saint years ago, is it?” he reminds her.
![]() |
"It's not as if you were a saint years ago, is it?" |
What angers her is that they have been lying about taking things slowly;
“And once we were away, they jumped into our bed!”
![]() |
"They jumped into our bed! |
![]() |
Hywel needs some normality in his life |
![]() |
"You have many friends, Hywel" |
![]() |
"I can't run away – it's not the right thing to do" |
![]() |
Hywel rejects the phone call . . . |
![]() |
. . . but soon there is another – from Julie |
![]() |
"You should have warned me about the vase" |
![]() |
"So this is where you're hiding, is it?" |
![]() |
The offending earring is put on the table |
![]() |
They sit, without comment |
![]() |
"Debbie might have lost it" |
![]() |
"Or one of Kath's visitors!" |
![]() |
"Diane will tell everyone now" |
![]() |
Gaynor is tidying the garden |
![]() |
"I'm a bit lonely sometimes" |
![]() |
Someone is peering over the hedge |
![]() |
"I want an apology from you!" |
![]() |
"You've taken advantage of me!" |
![]() |
"Non and I have not slept in your bed!" |
“Don’t say you brought another woman here?” Diane gasps,
and he begins to explain that it might be Debbie’s earring.
“You and Debbie?” she demands,
but he continues that Debbie and Mark spent a romantic night there, to have a break from the rest of the Joneses.
![]() |
"It might be Debbie's earring" |
![]() |
"You and Debbie?" |
![]() |
He explains about Debbie's and Mark's romantic night |
![]() |
"The Joneses have gone too far this time!" |
![]() |
"Right then, Kathleen Pearl, what did you think you were doing?" |
![]() |
"I shouldn't have spoken to you like that!" |
![]() |
"Well? What do you have to say?" |
![]() |
"Perhaps things went a bit too far" |
Kath concedes that perhaps things went a bit far; “But do you know what, Diane? Those little Chinese ladies had a fabulous time –
“the ones who stayed at Bryntirion for a weekend.” Diane seems even more angry, and Non leaves them to continue their little chat.
![]() |
"What Chinese ladies?" |
![]() |
"I'll discuss it with Dad when he gets back" |
![]() |
And suddenly – he is back |
![]() |
"Esther is with Elinor" |
![]() |
"Bed and breakfast?" |
![]() |
"How are you going to compensate me?" |
![]() |
"Twice a week for a month?" |
![]() |
"This hasn't been anywhere near Barcelona, has it?" |
![]() |
"Esther must have enjoyed herself" |
![]() |
Hywel has come back to sort things out |
![]() |
"One of the visitors had a little accident with the vase . . ." |
![]() |
". . . and I found one just the same" |
![]() |
"A car boot sale in Llanarthur?" |
![]() |
"Maybe the B&B business went a step too far" |
![]() |
"But I still want you to clean Bryntirion!" |
![]() |
"You can buy me a drink in the Deri" |
![]() |
Again Hywel's phone rings |
![]() |
"I think I'd better get Esther" |
Gaynor invites him and Esther over at the weekend, suggesting that they could have a picnic;
Hywel is overcome with emotion, and tells them,
“The truth is, she’s not here –
“she’s safe – she is somewhere better than with me.”
![]() |
Hywel cannot keep up the pretence any longer |
![]() |
"The truth is, she's not here . . ." |
![]() |
". . . she's somewhere better than being with me" |
![]() |
"Diane came over earlier" |
![]() |
They are being watched |
![]() |
"I'm glad you told the truth" |
![]() |
"Things are moving forward – slowly" |
![]() |
"When are you going to make it official?" |
![]() |
"That's no-one else's business" |
![]() |
"It's about time you got a move on" |
![]() |
Non is indeed looking embarrassed |
![]() |
"Look what you've done now!" |
![]() |
However, Non calls for attention |
“I’d like to say something – I’m pretty sure I’ve met the most perfect man in the whole world! “It’s taken me too long to realise that, so I’d like to say –
“and I don’t care who hears me – DJ, I love you!”
![]() |
"DJ, I love you!" |
![]() |
DJ looks rather sheepish . . . |
![]() |
. . . but kisses her . . . |
![]() |
. . . and they receive a round of applause |
![]() |
"It's Julie – Esther is with her!" |
![]() |
"I'm not going to raise her" |
![]() |
Gaynor protests . . . |
Amid protests from Gaynor
and Rhys, he goes on, “I’m adamant – this is the only way forward for me and Esther. I’m going to contact the authorities first thing next week, and put her up for adoption.”
He leaves the garden.
![]() |
. . . as does Rhys . . . |
![]() |
. . . but Hywel's mind is made up |
