Auntie Eileen dishes out the food
At Penrhewl, Eileen is feeding Bobi and Arthur with their favourite – Lasagne and garlic bread.
"Why do they have to stay here?"
Eifion asks her, “Why do they have to stay here and not with me?   I’d made room them with Iolo and Tyler.”   She replies that they know the farm, and, in any case, she has to respect Cadno’s wishes.
He had, at least, hoped to have lunch with them,
"I'm keeping the rest for Jim"
but she tells him, “I’m keeping the rest for Jim.”
"I know I'm not welcome here"
He realises that Jim is steering clear of him, and Eileen has made it quite clear that he is not welcome there;
Bobi is looking forward to his day out
nevertheless, no-one can spoil his day with Bobi and Arthur.
Anita plans alterations to Morawel already
Anita is already making plans for Morawel;
She proposes some structural changes
“If we got rid of that window and had doors with windows in them that open out into the garden – do you like that idea?”
"What did you say?"
Siôn is taking no notice, as he is engrossed in something which has arrived in the post for him this morning.   “You haven’t listened to a word I’ve said!” she scolds him.
He introduces Blodeuwedd the robot . . .
He addresses the small, white, cube-shaped box;  “Blodeuwedd, this is Anita,” and the box lights up pink and greets her.   He invites her to ask Blodeuwedd a question, but she asks him that question — why.
. . . and explains why she is here
A friend of mine is a scientist, and he’s developing Blodeuwedd – he asked me to trial her for a few weeks, to develop her linguistically,” Siôn informs Anita.
He demonstrates Blodeuwedd's capabilities
 Then he asks, Blodeuwedd, “Is Welsh your first language?” to which the box replies that his assumption is correct.
"Oh yes, it's a genius!
Anita is looking disgusted, and describes the object as a genius;  Siôn insists that they need to make her feel at home,
"I'm unable to carry out that task"
so Anita asks, “Blodeuwedd, can you wash the dishes?” but the answer is that she is sorry she is unable to carry out that task.
Siôn considers that Blodeuwedd is a lot of fun, an opinion obviously not shared by Anita;
"She's cold and mechanical!"
“She isn’t fun at all – she’s cold and mechanical!”   Siôn points out that she is a robot.
Dai cannot access APD's laptop
At APD, Dai is having problems with the laptop;  “It says ‘password incorrect’!” he tells Jason,
"It was a security risk"
who replies that he changed it, as it was a security risk.   He wrote down the new password on a piece of paper,
Now he has 'lost' the password
but, conveniently, does not know where it is now.   “Even the business owner can’t access it now!” rages Dai.
"Poker game tonight in the Deri flat"
Ed comes in to advise them that Garry is organising a poker game for tonight, at eight o’clock in the Deri flat.
It does not involve enough money for Jason
Jason is immediately interested, but when Ed says, “It will be no more than £20 a go,” Jason would prefer a proper game, without a limit.
Eifion prepares the boys for their day out
Eifion tells his sons that it is Hallowe’en this week;  Eileen suggests that the boys go out to the car and wait for their father.
"It's hard for them, isn't it?"
Then she says to Eifion, “It’s hard for them, isn’t it – processing that Mam and Dad have split up?”
"It might help if I could stay in the spare room"
He suggests that it might help if he could stay there in the spare room, but realises that Jim would never allow it.   Eileen is clear, “Neither would I – but their little lives are changing so fast – faster than you think.   Cadno should be telling you, but I think you have right to know –
"Cadno's got a new, Scottish boyfriend"
“Cadno’s got a new boyfriend – he’s Scottish.   The boys call him Uncle Steve.”
This is a blow to Eifion
Eifion looks devastated.
"Why aren't you working, DJ?"
Apparently Iolo has already written his best man’s speech, but Tyler says he needs some more dirt on DJ.   Sara comes in and admonishes DJ for not being at Awyr Iach.   Iolo asks her if she has any dirt on DJ for the speech,
"He was having an affair with someone's wife"
and she replies, “How about when he first came here?   Wasn’t it because you were having an affair with someone’s wife?”
"Who doesn't have a few skeletons in the cupboard?"
Non did not know about this, but says, “Who doesn’t have a few skeletons in the cupboard?”
"I'm not part of your project, Siôn!"
Siôn is still asking questions of his robotic friend, such as, “What is the date today?” and “What is the name of your new home?”   Anita refuses to ask a question, maintaining that she is not part of his project.   Then he enquires if Blodeuwedd would like to go out in the garden,
"That would be very pleasant"
and she replies that would be very pleasant.
"I cannot carry out that task!"
Siôn asks if Anita is coming with them, and she sneers, “I’m sorry, I cannot carry out that task!”
Later, in number 7, Eifion had forgotten how tiring it was looking after two boys all day;
Eifion is exhausted after his busy day
“We went for a walk to Carreg Cennan Castle, and stopped in a restaurant in Llanarthur on the way back.”   Then he appears to be overcome with emotion;
"There's been a big development"
“There’s been a bit of a development,” he says, “Well, a big development, actually,” and shows them a picture on the iPad.
"He looks like a bit of a plonker!"
“It’s Cadno’s new partner, Uncle Stephen!”   Tyler says it was bound to happen one day, but Eifion did not expect it so soon.   Iolo maintains that he looks a bit of a plonker, and not at all Cadno’s type;
"It may not last"
Tyler predicts it may not last.
"Someone else having an influence on my children"
“It’s weird, thinking of someone else having an influence on my children,” sighs Eifion,
"You'll always be their father"
but Tyler says that he will always be their father, and that will never change.
"But I won't be the one giving them a goodnight hug"
“But I won’t be the one giving them a good-night hug at bedtime,” Eifion groans.
The game is under way
The game of poker is in progress at the Deri flat;
Dai tries to look inscrutable
Dai looks critically at his cards and places another £20 on the table.   “This £20 limit is child’s play – does anyone fancy growing up a bit?” Jason suggests,
Jason is anxious to up the stakes
“What shall we say – £50?   If you don’t have the cash, we can use IOUs.”
Dai shuffles the cards
Garry is in favour of this, but the other two are not so enthusiastic.
"Blodeuwedd cannot drink wine"
Siôn confesses that there is one thing Blodeuwedd cannot do – she cannot drink wine;
"So I do have my uses, then"
Anita scathingly comments, “So I do have my uses, then.”   He wishes that both of them would get on together,
"You give her all your attention!"
but she objects, “I don’t like Blodeuwedd – you give her all your attention!   At a time when we could be talking about Morawel – I want you to be excited about this house,
"You're excited about a flipping robot!"
“but instead you’re excited about a flipping robot!”
He argues that is exactly why Blodeuwedd is good for them;  “We’ve already talked about Morawel until I’m blue in the face – there’s nothing more to say!
Anita is not convinced
“Blodeuwedd is like a breath of fresh air – she will give us a chance to have other ideas and thoughts.”   Anita obviously does not share his enthusiasm.
"I'm not a fan of musicals"
DJ and Non are settling down to watch a DVD of Les Miserables;  she says that she loves it, but he is not usually a fan of musicals.   She still remains tight-lipped about what she bought on Friday,
"I changed my mind and went to Carmarthen instead"
saying that she changed her mind and went to Carmarthen instead of Swansea.
"As long as you don't change your mind about getting married"
“As long as you don’t change your mind about getting married,” he says,
"I wouldn't do that"
and she assures him she would not do that.
Eifion wishes the boys goodnight
Eifion is on the phone, saying goodnight to his sons when Iolo returns home;
Iolo and Tyler have a surprise for him
he and Tyler have thought of a way of cheering Eifion up.   They produce three tickets for the rugby game between Wales and Scotland on Saturday, so that Eifion and the boys can go.   They were originally for the two of them and Mathew,
Eifion says he cannot accept
but Eifion says he cannot accept them.   Tyler will not take no for an answer.
Siôn is about to take Blodeuwedd to bed with him
Siôn picks up Blodeuwedd and is about to take her upstairs;  “No you are not!” rages Anita, and grabs the object.
"Do you think 30 seconds in the microwave will do?"
"I don't want three in this relationship"
“I’m going to put it in the microwave – do you think 30 seconds will do?”
He points out it costs thousands and that Harry spent years developing it,
but Anita is adamant, “I don’t want three in this relationship!”
"You're safe over here, my love"
Siôn retrieves the robot, and places it on a shelf, telling it that it is safe here, much to Anita’s disgust, and pointedly kisses it.
The poker game reaches a climax . . .
Things are hotting up in the poker game;
. . . and Garry is confident this is the winning hand
Garry displays his hand,
However, Jason has something even better . . .
but Jason has three kings and three tens,
. . . which Garry finds infuriating
which apparently wins him the game.   He proposes raising the stakes to £100,
Ed is becoming concerned about Jason
but Ed is doubtful about this and asks him if he is OK.
"Right, let's call it a night, then"
Garry considers that it is getting rather late, and winds up the game;
Jason is eager for a repeat performance
Jason is keen that they do this again,
"I shall have to win the lottery first"
but Ed does not agree – not until he wins the lottery, at least.
DJ has enjoyed the film
At the end of the DVD, DJ is quite tearful, and says it is one of the best films he has ever seen.   “You make me smile,” says Non,
"Thanks for sticking up for me in the café"
and he thanks her for sticking up for him in the cafe earlier.
"Sara was rather insensitive"
She thought Sara was rather insensitive, but DJ is glad that she said it, as it cleared the air.
“Like you said, everyone has the odd skeleton in the closet,” he admits,
"I was young – and a bit stupid!"
“I’m not proud of what I did – I was young, and a bit stupid – but I’m glad you know about that part of my past.   We can start with a clean slate now.”
"No, we shouldn't have any secrets"
Non agrees that they should not have any secrets.
“While we’re at it, I had a fling with someone you know, too – Anita,” and Non cannot deny that she is rather surprised – although she knew about Cadno.   “You won’t hold that against me, will you?” he asks.
"You've had experience with all these women!"
She says she will not;  “Perhaps it will be a bonus on our wedding night – that you’ve had experience with all these women!”
Jason is now gambling online
Back home at number 10, Jason is indulging in an online roulette game, where the stake is £150.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you, Sara"
Sara calls him from upstairs, and asks if he is coming to bed,
One more loss on the roulette wheel . . .
but he cannot resist one more bet, which he, of course, loses.   “You swine!” he shouts,
. . . and he is asked for more funds
as the screen invites him to add more funds to play again.   “I’ll be up now,” he tells Sara.
"Why didn't you tell me before?"
Eifion is on the phone to Cadno;  “Why didn’t you tell me before?   Of course it’s unfair.   If Eileen hadn’t said anything, I’d still be in the dark!
"Will you reconsider about Saturday?"
“Will you reconsider about Saturday – please?   Right, so there’s no point talking, is there?”
"We won't be able to go to the rugby . . ."
Iolo has come downstairs, and Eifion tells him, “We won’t be able to go to the rugby on Saturday,
". . . the boys are going to watch football at Liverpool"
“the boys are going to watch football in Liverpool, with Cadno and Stephen.”
"You'll still be here for them"
Iolo reminds him that he will still be there for them, but he explains, “You don’t understand,
"They're moving to Scotland next month!"
“Cadno and the boys are moving to Scotland with this Stephen next month!”
