30 April 2018

Anita is reminiscing
When Kelly comes downstairs, Anita is looking at old photos of her children;  “Aren’t you happy about me looking at these?” she demands,
"It's why you're looking at them that bothers me"
but Kelly replies that it is why she is looking at them that bothers her.
"It must seem strange to you"
“Deciding to have a baby at my age must seem strange to you,” Anita concedes, but Kelly says it would be strange to anyone, and asks what Siôn has said about it.
"You haven't told him, have you?"
“You haven’t told him, have you?   If you were really serious about this, wouldn’t you have talked to your partner?”   Anita maintains that it is her decision.
The chippy seems to have a litter problem
Britt is sweeping up outside the chippy
Garry is on the phone . . .
when Garry comes along on the other side of the road, talking on his phone;  “I can’t come over today – I’ve got a lot to do.   I’ll see you tomorrow –
. . . meeting someone at 4:00pm
“OK, sorry about that, Spencer – I will be over this afternoon at four.”
Then he meets Hywel,
"Can you check the antivirus?"
and wants him to check over his laptop for antivirus and things.
Dani rifles through the drawers
Meanwhile, in the Deri flat, Dani is going through drawers, but is unable to find what she is looking for.
"What are you doing here?"
When she hears Garry coming, she quickly sorts through the post instead.
He demands what she is doing there,
"I'll put your post through the door of number 7"
and insists that if there is any more post for her he will put it through the door at number 7. Before she leaves, he wants her Deri keys back;
"You don't live here any more!"
“You don’t live here any more – I don’t want you coming up here without me knowing!”
Siôn id doing some weeding . . .
Siôn is doing some weeding in the community garden when Wendy approaches;
. . . when Wendy appears
he tells her he thought it would help the campaign for Best Kept Village.   He introduces himself,
"You look rather like a gnome yourself"
and she laughs at the thought of his name and these gnomes;  “It sounds a bit like Snow White – you look rather like a gnome yourself, with that beard,” she comments,
"Well, I have been called worse"
and he admits that he has been called worse.
She says that she is Tyler’s and Dani’s mother and understands that he is Iolo’s father.
"Siôn, Auntie Anita wants to talk to you!"
Then Kelly calls to him, saying that Auntie Anita wants to talk to him, and said it was important.   He immediately heads to number 10.
Dani and Britt keep an eye on Wendy
Britt and Dani have been watching his conversation with Wendy with suspicion.
"Kelly says you want to see me"
Anita opens the door, and Siôn says that he was told by Kelly she wanted to see him,
"No – everything is fine"
but Anita insists that everything is fine.   “I know something’s been on your mind these last few days,” Siôn points out,
"I want us to be honest with each other"
“And I want us to be honest with each other – if you feel it’s moving too quickly – or if you want to call it a day . . .”
She replies that it is nothing like that,
"I'm thinking of having a baby – but not with you!"
and after some hesitation, tells him, “I’m thinking of having a baby – but not with you – with Meic!”
Siôn is dumbfounded
This astonishes Siôn, but she goes on, “It’s a lot for you to take in . . . Meic froze some of his sperm – it’s not clear why.   I only found out a fortnight ago – he put my name on the permission form.   “I think he wanted me to use it.”
"But you're too old, aren't you?"
Siôn says that he understood that she was too old to use it;  “In this country, yes, but it’s possible for a woman my age to have IVF abroad.   Don’t laugh, Siôn.”   He is of the impression she is not thinking clearly, but she had hoped that he would support her;
"I don't expect you to be responsible for the child"
“I don’t expect you to be responsible for the child!”   He points out that they are in a relationship, but she is determined to go ahead with this.
"Well, you have made your mind up"
He comes to the conclusion that she has made up her mind, no matter what he thinks.
Sion leaves the house
However, thanks her for telling him, and leaves the house without another word.
"I couldn't find his laptop"
Dani informs Britt that she founded nothing important in the drawers, and she could not locate his laptop, but Britt knows the reason for that;   “He gave it to Hywel this morning – you won’t get hold of that, because he and Garry are great friends.
"Garry's meeting someone at 4:00pm"
“But something is going on, because I saw Garry on the phone, arranging to  meet someone at 4 o’clock.”
"I shall follow him"
Dani intends to follow him, as she might find something out, but Britt warns that they do not want Garry thinking they suspect him.
"Hello, Gaynor"
Then Britt’s phone rings, and it is Gaynor, complaining that Chester is not in school today;
"Right, I'll sort him out!"
she promises to sort him out.
Chester is playing a computer game
Sure enough, Chester is playing some computer game, but then receives a text from Ricky, asking if he is coming to school, and commiserating about Hannah’s departure.
"Black coffee, please, Kelly"
Dani goes into the café for a black coffee, and notices Hywel at a table, with Garry’s laptop bag;  Kelly says that she sounds stressed, and Dani  takes the opportunity to say she cannot find some things on her laptop.
"I can't find some stuff on my laptop"
“You know, about Carol – her NHS number and stuff like that – I really need it!”
Hywel offers to look for the information for her, but she replies that she has just been a bit negligent,
"Is that Garry's laptop?"
then asks, “Is that Garry’s laptop?   The stuff would be on there –
"Would you mind if I had a quick look?"
“would you mind if I had a quick look?”
Hywel is reluctant to allow her, but she pleads,
"OK, I'll come round later"
“All I want to do is take a peep at Carol’s folder,” and he agrees, if she comes round later.
Chester is in the same position . . .
Britt goes to see Chester;
. . . but this time his mother is there
“You should be in school with your friends, not pondering about Hannah!   You need to think about your schoolwork.
"That computer game is rubbish!"
“It’s this computer game that’s rubbish, and you play it from morning until night!”   She pulls out the plug, and threatens to fling it out of the window.
"That's it – get dressed!"
“You’re supposed to be in school – right, that’s it – get dressed – it’s not too late for you to go now!   I’m not going anywhere, so you had better get changed!   I will take you through the door to apologise to Gaynor, too.
"You're going to school, and that's the end of it!"
“You’re going to school today, and that’s the end of it!”
A rare view of the garden of Y Felin
Siôn is in the back garden of Y Felin, scrubbing flowerpots;  his phone sounds and he sees it is a call from Anita, which he rejects.
Wendy arrives, bearing eclairs
Then Wendy arrives;  “I hope you don’t mind – I’ve brought us a chocolate eclair each from the café.”
"I'm not very good company at the moment"
He replies that he is not very good company at the moment, but she explains that she does not know anyone else in Cwmderi
"I thought I would get a welcome from you"
and thought she would get a welcome from him;  “As we’re family.   I couldn’t help but notice that when I told you who I was earlier . . .”
"Not a very good impression"
He confesses that the impression he has of her from Tyler and Iolo is not a very good one.
"I know I've been a terrible mother!"
She agrees that she has been a terrible mother, and turns on the waterworks as she pleads that she has tried to do her best.
"Here, have my handkerchief"
This ploy works on Siôn, and he gives her his handkerchief.
She comments that he has a nice garden,
"It will be nicer when I do some weeding"
and he explains it will be even nicer when he does some weeding.
"I'll help you!"
Wendy volunteers to help him, and they will have the eclairs as a treat afterwards.
Hywel is not happy about this
Hywel is not very comfortable with Dani looking at Garry’s laptop, but she assures him, “I won’t be long – I just want Carol’s folder.   It’s not as if it’s a stranger going through his laptop.”   Hywel points out that it is not very professional on his part,
Dani settles down for some detective work
but she goes on, “By the time that you make the coffee, I’ll be finished.”   She studies the laptop intently.
"You had no right to interfere!"
Anita moans at Kelly that she had no right to interfere, but is told that Siôn needed to know. “I had no time to prepare or anything,” Anita rages,
"You've made matters worse!"
“You’ve made matters worse, do you know that?   He’s not answering my calls or anything!”
"You had to tell him!"
Kelly concedes that she may not have done this the right way, but if Anita is serious about it, she had to tell him.   “I’ve never heard of anyone doing something like this before – but I do admire you – I suppose I’ll have to support you, if that’s what you want.”
Dani has found the e-mail address
Dani has found the information she was looking for, and writes down the e-mail address ‘spencer@blainleystorage.com’
"Did you get the information?"
just in time before Hywel  brings the coffee.
"Don't tell Garry"
She would appreciate it if he did not tell Garry, as things are not too good between them at the moment.
Then there is a knock at the door, and when Dani hears Garry’s voice,
Dani beats a hasty retreat
she makes a very rapid exit through the back door, unfortunately leaving her scarf on the sofa.   Hywel says he will be another hour with the laptop,
Garry finds Dani's scarf
but then Garry notices the scarf.
“I’m worried about Dani, to be honest,” Garry says, “Her behaviour has been a bit weird.”
"She left that when she called earlier"
Seeing the scarf, Hywel explains that she was round earlier, wanting him to look at her laptop.
Chester is in his bedroom . . .
In his bedroom,
. . . deleting photographs
Chester sets about removing all the photos of him and Hannah from his phone;  he feels a sudden pain in his right side,
What is this red mark on his side?
and lifts up his shirt to reveal a red mark.
Siôn pours the wine
Inside Y Felin, Siôn pours them both a large glass of wine;  Wendy looks across at the photo of Iolo and Tyler on their wedding day,
"I was not invited to the wedding"
and remarks that she was not invited to the wedding.   Siôn asks if she keeps in touch with Liv in prison, and she answers,
"It's a big deal when your children don't want to see you"
“When she lets me – it’s a big deal when your own children don’t want to see you.”
He insists that he is not judging her, but sympathises, if anything;
"And I thought my life was complicated"
he thought that his life was complicated.
"You're a very kind man"
“You’re a very kind man,” she tells him, and he can see that she is not all bad.
She has a quick snoop in the drawers . . .
As he goes upstairs for some reason, Wendy has a look through some drawers,
. . . and comes up with a couple of notes
and finds a couple of banknotes, which go into her pocket.
"Here's the address of Blainley Storage"
Back at the chip shop flat, Dani finds the address of Blainley Storage, and Britt exclaims, “Oh – that industrial estate in Swansea – I knew it!”   Dani says that the e-mail said something about deliveries,
"So Garry was on the phone to Spencer Blainley"
so perhaps Garry was on the phone to this Spencer Blainley.”
Unfortunately now they have missed Garry’s 4:00pm appointment,
"We have to do something, Britt!"
but Dani insists they have to do something.
"Don't rush into anything"
Britt is more cautious, stressing that they do not want to rush into something they will regret.
"Fine – we'll go tomorrow!"
“OK, fine – we’ll go tomorrow!” decides Dani, “Doing nothing isn’t an option!”
