DI Davies looks in one direction . . .
The DI continues to look up and down the street, 
. . . then heads in the other, toward Hywel's
then, accompanied by two constables, she heads towards the door of Hywel Llywelyn’s house, and knocks repeatedly.
"They're going to Hywel's"
Up in the Deri flat, Gethin is watching anxiously, 
Garry and Dani look stony-faced
and advises Garry and Dani of the police movements.   
"Hywel!"
Anita, from her vantage point behind the curtains, announces to Siôn, “Hywel!”   
Ffion does not know what to think
Ffion turns from her window and looks both anxious and relieved.
"You've searched the house once!"
“You’ve searched the house once!” complains Hywel, looking at the warrant, “Why are you hassling me?   I’ve told you everything.”   
The constables are told to start the search
DI Davies informs him that they have received new information, and the two constables go to search the garden.
Dani cannot understand why the police think Hywel did it;  
"It's obvious – he did it!"
Gethin replies that it is, “Obviously, because he did it – he hated Sheryl, and he hated me too!   
"He would have killed both of us if he could!"
“He would have killed both of us if he could.”   With tears in his eyes he adds, “I wish he’d smashed my head in too!”
"You saw Hywel that night"
Dani turns to Garry;  “You saw Hywel that night – was he behaving strangely, as if he was going to do that?”   
Garry is eager to change the subject
Garry replies that he was not, and decides to go and see Seren.   Dani tells Gethin that she cannot believe Hywel did it.
"Who else could it have been?"
“Well, who else could it have been?” he demands, and Dani sighs that it goes to show that you can never really know anyone.
Hywel has called Gaynor in to help
Hywel has called on Gaynor to look after Esther;  “I don’t want her to wake up in a house full of police.”   Gaynor assures him she will do anything she can to help.
The salon doorstop has been found in the garden
Then the DI comes in with the news that they have found something;  in an evidence bag is a cast iron doorstop, which Hywel confirms was used to hold the doors open in the salon, but he has no idea why it was in his garden.   
"It always went missing in the salon"
“It always went missing in the salon – people kicked it out of the way,” he says, but the DI finds it difficult to believe someone kicked it all the way to his back garden.
"Hywel Llywelyn, I am arresting you"
She solemnly intones, “Hywel Llywelyn, I am arresting you on suspicion of the murder of Sheryl Llywelyn.   You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something you later rely on in court.   
Handcuffs are put on him
“Anything you do say may be used as evidence.”
"Perhaps they just have a couple of questions to ask him"
Anita nervously maintains that they may just have a couple of questions to ask Hywel, but Siôn points out that the police do not call in the dead of night without good reason.   
"If he did it, it's my fault!"
“If he did it, it’s my fault!” she wails, “I told him that Sheryl was going to Canada – perhaps that is what it drove him to it!”
"Hywel loved Sheryl"
Siôn replies that Hywel loved Sheryl, and Anita fears that Wil will never forgive her, but Siôn tells her that Hywel is responsible – if he did it.   
"Do you know what it's like?"
“Do you know what it’s like for a boy to grow up without his mother?” she asks;  
Siôn knows only too well
of course Siôn does know, and assures her that he will be here for her and Wil.
“It’s not going to be easy for you either, if your best friend is guilty of murder,” she goes on, 
"We will have to support each other"
but he says they will have to support each other.   
Gethin continues his running commentary
Gethin is still peering through the Venetian blind;  “Something’s happening – Hywel is in handcuffs!”   
As he is led away . . .
Hywel walks across the road, flanked by the two constables, and is loaded into a police car. 
. . . he looks up at Gethin in the window
He looks up and sees Gethin looking through the window.   
The police cars leave the village
The police cars drive away.
Next morning, Ffion visits Llwyncelyn 
At Llwyncelyn next morning, Gaynor has asked Ffion to come over, as it will be nice for Esther to see a familiar face;  “I heard they found something in the garden – so the police are sure Hywel did it?” Ffion says, 
"Mustn't discuss it in front of Esther"
but Gaynor does not want to discuss it in front of Esther.   
Esther is playing happily
Ffion goes across to talk to Esther, 
"The police are not saying anything"
as Elgan comes in and reports that the police would not tell him anything.   
Ffion is overcome . . .
By now, Ffion is in tears 
. . . by Esther asking for her mother
and tells them, “She just asked where her mother was – sorry, Gaynor, I have to go!”   She rushes out of the house.
Gwern and his friend are hard at work . . .
In the Deri flat, Gwern and a friend are making posters to say that they are raising money to help Esther;  Garry is proud of them, 
"Thanks, Dad!"
and gives them a £10 note to start them off.
"Why did you go to see him that night?"
“You know you went to see Hywel that night,” begins Dani, “Why did you go?”   
Again Garry hastily changes the subject
He replies that Hywel is his friend, and changes the subject, suggesting that Dani takes the boys to the shop to get new felt pens.
"Do you think Hywel killed her?"
Gethin comes in and asks Garry, “Do you think Hywel killed her?   I do!”
"No, I don't want a solicitor"
At the police station, Hywel has declined the offer of a solicitor;  “I don’t want a solicitor, because I haven’t done anything.”   
"You really ought to have one"
DI Davies advises him to change his mind, but he insists, “I don’t need anyone to defend me, 
"You can't find anyone else to accuse"
“I’m only here because you can’t find anyone else to accuse.”   
"There is more evidence against you"
The DI points out that there is more evidence against him than anyone else, and he recommends that, if that is the case, she should look harder.
"Is this your first job as Inspector?"
“Is this your first job as Inspector?” he enquires, “Someone more experienced might view my arrest as a very desperate move.”   He is told that he is making it rather difficult for the DI to keep an open mind.   
"While the murderer is still out there!"
“You’ve dragged me from my home and arrested me – while the murderer is still out there!”
Kelly at the door of her café 
Kelly comes out of the door of the café and sees Ffion across the road, outside the salon, looking very upset.   
"It keeps hitting me for six!"
“It keeps hitting me for six, time after time,” she sobs, “It’s affected so many people – Wil, Esther – everything’s changed.”   
"This is not your fault, Ffi!'
Kelly reminds her that this is not her fault, and that she is a victim as well, 
"Then why do I feel so guilty?"
but Ffion replies, “Then why do I feel so guilty and responsible?”
Kelly takes her to the seat to sit down;  
"It's survivor guilt', like!"
“It’s normal to feel guilty when someone dies unexpectedly – survivor guilt’, like,” but Ffion is adamant that it is not that.
"Got her off to sleep – at last"
At Llwyncelyn, Elgan, who is wearing a multicoloured tiara, has just got Esther off to sleep, after playing with her;  “It’s difficult enough to get an adult to speak about their trauma, not to mention a three-year-old girl.   What is going to happen?   If Hywel is charged officially, he could be on remand for months,” 
"They can't hold her for more than 24 hours"
but Gaynor is convinced that the police cannot hold him for more than 24 hours.
“There must be someone else who can look after her,” he adds, 
"Hywel did not want her to go to anyone else"
but Gaynor is adamant that Hywel did not want her to go to anyone else.   He is going to the village to see if there is any more news, 
"Haven't you forgotten something, Elgan?"
but is advised to remove the tiara first.
"I wished that Sheryl would die!"
Ffion asks Kelly if she wished that something might happen to Sioned when she was abusing Ed;  “I wished that Sheryl would die – I hated her so much!”   
"Now I've got what I wanted – and poor Esther doesn't have anyone"
Kelly looks suspicious as she continues, “Now I’ve got what I wanted – and poor Esther doesn’t have anyone!”
She bursts into tears, jumps up from the seat 
Ffion retreats into Gethin's embrace . . .
and is comforted by Gethin, who just happens to be passing.   
. . . which disturbs Kelly
Kelly looks unconvinced 
"I'll look after her"
when he assures her that he will look after Ffion, and leads her home.
"Does she have any other relatives?"
In the Deri, Elgan explains that Esther is staying with them;  “She is not saying much, but she doesn’t know us, does she?   Does she have any other relatives?”   
"There's Julie, Sheryl's mother"
Anita replies that there is Sheryl’s mother, Julie, whom she should really have contacted, but does not know what to say.   Then there is a sister, but they did not get on very well, and Rhys, but he is in America.
"Garry Monk is her godfather"
“Garry Monk is Esther’s godfather,” she adds, and Elgan wonders if she should be staying with him, 
"Hywel doesn't want her near Gethin!"
but Siôn points out that Hywel would not want her at the Deri, as Gethin is also here.
“What do you think?   Is Hywel guilty?” Elgan asks Garry, 
Garry evades the question . . .
who replies that he has no idea, and there is no point in discussing it now, as it is over.   
. . . which Dani finds enigmatic
This time Dani is the one looking suspicious, 
"I hope you'll do your duty as a godfather"
as Elgan continues, “I hope you’ll do your duty as her godfather and help out.”   Garry just walks away.
"Did you go to the salon flat at all?"
Hywel’s interrogation continues;  “On the day of the murder, did you go to the flat at the salon at all?”   
Hywel adopts the 'no comment' response
He replies that he has no comment, and the next question is, “When you got to the door at the bottom of the stairs that led to the flat, what did you do?   Did you see anyone?   Did you see the doorstop?   Did you touch the doorstop?”   He reiterates that he has nothing to say.
"The magistrates will think you have something to hide"
The DI points out that this is not an effective defence, and he has to give more details, or the magistrates will think he has something to hide.   
Hywel glances at the clock
He looks up at the clock which indicates a quarter to twelve.
“Do you watch a lot of crime dramas on television?” he is asked, 
"We can question you for up to 96 hours"
“It’s a common mistake that offenders think that they will be released after 24 hours, but we have the right to question you for up to 96 hours.   Do you have anything to say now?”
"You have no reason to keep me here"
He maintains that they have no reason to keep him here, but DI Davies explains they found evidence in his garden and he is refusing to answer.   “All suspects say they are not guilty, Mr Llywelyn!   
"I'm going to ask the court for an extension"
“I’m going to ask the court for an extension.”
"All right – I do want a solicitor!"
This seems to change Hywel’s attitude, and now he says he does want a solicitor.
Gethin asks what happened . . .
At Cysgod y Glyn, Gethin asks Ffion what happened, and she replies that Kelly came over to talk when she was upset.   
. . . and then demands what she told Kelly
Then he wants to know what Ffion told her, and offers to go and have a word with Kelly, but is told that she was only trying to provide some comfort.
"I still care about what happens to you and Arwen"
“Why were you so upset?   I still care about what happens to you, and Arwen,” he tells her, “We’re all part of this nightmare, whether we want to be or not.”
"I didn't know what to do or say – so I just left!"
Ffion confesses, “I went over to see Gaynor earlier – Esther was there, drawing a picture, and she asked me where her mother was.   I didn’t know what to do or what to say, so I just left!  
"I feel terrible that I can't deal with it"
“I feel terrible that I can’t deal with it – if you saw her, Geth – she has no idea what’s going on.   If Hywel goes to prison, she’ll have no-one.”
Gethin is becoming rather emotional
Gethin appears to be quite emotionally affected by this, 
"We must do all we can to help Esther"
and maintains they have to do all they can to help Esther, to make sure she does not come to any harm.   
"You haven't done anything wrong!"
You haven’t done anything wrong!” he says, with conviction, 
"We're both responsible"
but she is quite convinced that they are both responsible.
