Gethin has his breakfast

Next morning, Gethin is eating his breakfast when Garry tells him to open up the garage this morning; Gethin replies that he has arranged to meet Julie, and is told that he will have to cancel;

"I'm going to see Hywel"

“I’m going to see Hywel – I want to know why he thinks I’m the murderer!” Garry announces, but Gethin advises him to ignore Hywel.

"He killed Sheryl – he has no right to say anything!"

“You’ll only give people a reason to think he’s telling the truth – he killed Sheryl – he has no right to say anything!” Gethin snarls,

"Don't breathe a word to Dani!"

but Garry tells him not to breathe a word to Dani.

"One from Venice this time"

Another postcard has arrived at Maes-y-Deri, this time from Venice;

Non looks at the card

Kath reminisces that Dyff always wanted to go there; “All we got was a pedalo on the marine lake in Rhyl!”

Julie has selected a photo for the order of service

Julie has found a suitable photograph for the order of service, and still cannot believe that she has to do this.

"I'll come to the undertaker's with you"

Kath offers to go to the undertaker’s with her, but Non is insistent that she should not go,

"No – I want to discuss a personal problem!"

as she needs to discuss a personal problem with Kath.

"You've got a booking for Bryntirion!"

When Julie has left, she reveals the real reason; “You’ve got a booking for Bryntirion – and they’re arriving this afternoon.”

"I'll never get it ready in time!"

Kath replies that she will never get the place ready in time,

"You should have thought of that!"

but is told, “You should have thought about that before ticking the ‘late bookings’ box!”

Garry surveys the tributes to Sheryl

Garry stands outside the salon, surveying the flowers and other tributes;

"It would be better if Rhys kept his mouth shut"

Julie comes past and tells him that it would be better if Rhys kept his mouth shut and left things alone; “But there we are – he’s his father’s son. What else do you expect?”

"Sorry you saw me threatening him"

Garry apologises that she saw him threatening Rhys like that, then gets into his car for the journey to Cardiff.

Dani is watching

Dani has been watching from her vantage point outside APD.

Kath prepares a Welsh welcome hamper

Kath is going through her cupboards, finding provisions that are made in Wales to put in the welcome hamper; “It’s important to give these visitors a decent welcome, because of this positive feedback thing.”

"Look, there's leek in this!"

She finds some biscuits which contain leek, and Non reminds her that there is part of the website where guests can complain as well.

"I've borrowed this book from you"

“I’ve borrowed a book from you as well – Under Milk Wood – it’s important for visitors to learn about local authors,” but Non refuses to let her have it.

Garry does not look pleased to be here

In Cardiff prison, Garry sits, stony-faced, waiting for Hywel to come in; he is thanked for coming, and Hywel demands some answers.

"Why did you frame me?"

“Why did you frame me?” Garry denies framing anyone, and accuses Hywel of murdering Sheryl, for which he must pay.

"We both know that's not true!"

“Listen, we both know that’s not true!” Hywel insists,

"You're starting to sound like Rhys!"

and Garry says he is starting to sound like Rhys, hoping that if he says it often enough, someone will believe him.

"You killed her, and then planted the evidence on me!"

“You killed her, didn’t you?” Hywel growls, “You killed Sheryl, and then planted the evidence on me! I know you, Garry – do you remember that last conversation we had?

"You said you were going to 'sort everything'!"

“When you said you were going to ‘sort everything’?”

"I was trying to comfort a friend"

Garry’s reply is, “You think I killed Sheryl because of some stupid promise I made? I was trying to comfort a friend.” Hywel comments that it was a friend he betrayed in order to stay out of prison,

"Right, I'm going!"

and when Garry gets up to leave, Hywel demands that he stay.

"Tell me why you're running away?"

“You haven’t told me about your plans to go to America yet – I might be in here, but I know what you’re doing out there! Tell me why you’re running away.”

"You must have some idea where Garry is!"

Dani maintains that Gethin must have some idea where Garry is, but he refuses to reveal anything.

"Hello, Dani"

Mathew comes face to face with Dani as he and Jim arrive in the Deri, and he asks how Carol is.

"She is called Seren now"

She immediately corrects him that she is called Seren now. Jim explains that Mathew is APD’s new labourer, and he is a good worker;

"Two pints and two burgers, please, Dani"

they order a pint and a burger each.

“You must know that Garry and I are back together again,” she tells Mathew, and he says that it is good news.

"I hope it's not a problem"

Jim hopes that it is not a problem, him being back,

"I've got more important things to worry about!"

but Dani replies that she has more important things to worry about.

"We decided we needed a break from it all"

Garry continues his explanation, “Dani and I decided we needed a break from it all – there’s nothing more to it,” but Hywel is sceptical, as this so-called ‘holiday’ is for six months.

"There's more to it than that!"

He knows that there is more to it, and surmises that Garry is trying to avoid a court case, or frightened of committing perjury; “You haven’t got a conscience, have you? You loved Sheryl once, didn’t you? Don’t you feel guilty?”

"I can't stop thinking about that night"

Garry snarls, “Of course I do – I can’t stop thinking about that night. I should never have come over to see you – I should never have interfered in your relationship.

"If I had stayed away, she would still be alive"

“If I had stayed away, Sheryl would still be alive, and you wouldn’t be in here.

"I don't want to see you again!"

“I’m leaving! Don’t contact me – I don’t want to see you again!”

Dani is unable to contact Garry

Dani is trying to contact Garry, but is invited to leave a message for him;

"Can I ask you another favour, Gethin?"

nearby in the Deri, Julie is asking Gethin for another favour. He says he will do anything to help,

He says he draws the line at this

but when he hears that she wants him to pay tribute to Sheryl at the funeral, he changes his mind.

"I can't think of anyone better"

“I can’t think of anyone better,” she insists, but he points out that it would upset too many people. “You loved Sheryl – I want everyone to see that love.”

"I loved her more than I ever loved anyone!"

He admits that he loved her more than he has ever loved anyone, and that is why it would be too difficult for him to write down, and he does not want to disappoint either her or Sheryl.

Julie manages to persuade him

However, after repeated pleas from Julie, he capitulates.

"Welcome to your home for the weekend!'

At Bryntirion, Kath welcomes her guests, who are a couple of Chinese ladies, to their home for the weekend; she speaks in English, but the guests do not appear to speak at all.

She draws their attention to the Welsh produce

She shows them that the hamper of Welsh produce,

They notice the photo of Dai and Diane . . .

but they notice a photograph of Dai and Diane in front of the Deri.

. . . but Kath explains it away . . .

Kath improvises that they are a couple of Welsh celebrities, Dai and Diane Ashurst, who are singers and are very famous in Wales;

. . . and they seem to believe her

“They came here to do a concert locally, and they stayed in this house.” She takes them upstairs.

The Deri will foot the bill for the funeral tea

Dani informs Julie that the funeral tea will not cost her anything;

"It's the least we can do"

“Sheryl was a friend, and it is the least we can do.”

"I've been 'out'!"

Then Garry returns, and will merely say that he has been ‘out’;

He is not happy that Mathew is back

he is not pleased when he sees Mathew around the place, and decides he is going upstairs.

“Please, Garry, I want the truth – where were you? I was worried!” she pleads,

Gethin is listening intently over there

and he reveals that Hywel wanted to see him. Gethin, sitting nearby, overhears this and looks concerned. Garry says that he wanted to find out why, and Dani follows him upstairs.

"The master bedroom with private bathroom"

Kath shows her visitors the newly decorated master bedroom with private bathroom; “Only the best for my guests!

She displays Uncle Dylan's book . . .

“I’ve left this for you to read – it’s my own personal copy. Uncle Dylan meant the world to me – he was my father’s cousin.”

. . . with its somewhat unconvincing dedication . . .

She shows them the dedication inside, allegedly written by Dylan Thomas; “To dearest Kathleen, loadsa love, Uncle Dylan.” Then she offers to show them the pub where his drinking problem started; “I could take you there this weekend if you like –

. . . but the visitors lap it up

“for a small fee!”

"What's going on, Garry?"

Up in the Deri flat, Dani wants to know what is going on; “You just said you’ve been to see Hywel – you can’t deny it.”

"Hywel is adamant that he's been framed"

He admits that he should have said something, and that Hywel is adamant that he has been framed.

"Do you know something?"

“And he thinks you know something – why else would he want to see you?” she asks. “Do you – know something?

"You're acting oddly all the time"

“You’re acting so oddly all the time – and I’ve seen you, more than once, looking at the flowers outside the salon – and then you threatened Rhys.”

Garry grumbles that the boy does not know when to keep quiet.

"Is there something you're not telling me?"

Dani demands, “Is there something you’re not telling me? Something about the night that Sheryl died?” He swears that he has told the police, and her, everything. “OK, there’s nothing more to say, then, is there?” she concludes.

"Easiest money I ever made!"

Back home at Maes-y-Deri, Kath reports that it is the easiest money she has ever made,

"Let's have a tenner each to go to the Deri"

and thinks that she and Non could have £10 each to go to the Deri tonight, but Non refuses, as she holds out the electricity money tin. “There’s more there than the price we agreed – did you steal from them?” Non enquires.

"I sold them a bit extra"

She is told that Kath sold them a bit extra – she is taking them out tomorrow for a guided tour; “They can’t wait to see where Dylan used to drink –

The electricity crisis is over – for now

“we won’t have to worry about the electricity bill until Christmas!”

Julie comes in, and seeing Kath counting the money,

"You haven't been stealing again, Kath?"

wonders if she has been stealing again,

"I've been working hard for this!"

but Kath protests that she has been working hard for this.

"What did Hywel say to Garry?"

Gethin comes to the bar and asks Dani what Hywel said to Garry; “What did he want? She replies that she does not know what Garry believes, but she does know that someone is lying.
