Eifion looks at photos of Cadno and the boys

Eifion is mournfully looking through pictures of Cadno and the boys on his phone, when he has a visit from Colin,

"You don't look particularly special"

who asks if he is all right. “You don’t look particularly special,” he says,

"No, I'm not too well"

and Eifion gives the excuse that he is not feeling too well.

He admits that Cadno and the boys are not there, and Colin had intended to ask for help to do a stocktake in the shop, but will do it on his own.

"Hywel's been arrested for Sheryl's murder!"

“Everyone’s talking about the news,” says Colin, and explains, “Hywel’s been arrested for Sheryl’s murder! Mind you, I’m not sure myself –

"Everyone has their secrets, I suppose"

“but everyone has their secrets, I suppose.”

Hywel is very frustrated

Hywel is becoming frustrated in the interview room, but at least now he has a solicitor present, and demands, “Are they allowed to keep me here so long? I haven’t seen that DI since yesterday afternoon.”

"Don't lose your temper!"

The solicitor informs him they are within their rights and advises him to be patient and not to lose his temper, which will only make things worse. “How could they be any worse?” Hywel rages.

"Interview begins at 4:15pm"

DI Davies and her henchman come in and she starts the interview at 4:15pm; “You’ve had time to consult your solicitor – do you have anything to tell us?”

"It's disgraceful, keeping me here so long!"

Hywel simply replies that it is a disgrace that she has kept him here so long. “Well, you’re not the most important person in this investigation,” she goes on, so he assumes they have another suspect,

"Sheryl is more important than you"

but she informs him, “Sheryl is more important than you – anything else to say?”

"The murderer is trying to frame me!"

He tells her, “This tip-off – you must see that the murderer is trying to frame me!” She answers that the person who phoned might have seen him burying the doorstop, and he roars, “Why would I bury the doorstop if I had used it to kill Sheryl?”

"You wouldn't be the first murderer to do something stupid!"

The DI is becoming heated; “You wouldn’t be the first murderer to do something stupid, Mr Llywelyn!”

"Heard any more about Hywel?"

In the Deri, Tyler asks Jason if he has heard any more about Hywel, and he replies, “I’ve known Hywel for years, and he wouldn’t – he couldn’t!

"It's not in him to hurt someone like that"

“It’s not in him to hurt someone like that.” Tyler asks if they want him and Iolo to look after Ifan, so they can have a drink,

"Would you do that for us?"

and Sara is pleased to accept his offer,

"I have to work late at APD"

although Jason has to work late again tonight.

Colin is stock-taking

Colin is busy counting stock in the shop when Eifion comes in, after having a shower. “We might as well sort out the shifts,” Colin tells him,

"When will Cadno be back?"

“When will Cadno be back?” and Eifion enlightens him that she will not be coming back, as they have split up.

"She's not coming back?"

Colin is astonished that she has taken the boys with her to Comins Coch. “It’s no wonder you can’t work!” Colin commiserates, and Eifion goes back upstairs.

Iolo comes in and hears the news . . .

Iolo comes into the shop

. . . that Cadno has left Eifion

and is told that Cadno has left Eifion; he turns and leaves again.

"The doorstop is circumstantial evidence"

The solicitor points out to the DI that the doorstop is circumstantial evidence, but she maintains that Hywel has also lied;

"Mr Llywelyn has lied several times"

“You knew that Sheryl was going to Ireland – she was determined to leave you, and you denied phoning Sheryl the night she died.”

"He forgot, because he was in shock"

The solicitor maintains that Hywel forgot, as he was in shock. “We are awaiting the results of the forensics tests on the doorstop,” says the DI, and pauses the interview at 5:03pm.

"How about a holiday – in the United States?"

When Dani brings in a basket of washing, Garry asks her, “How would you like to celebrate your birthday with a holiday? In the United States – starting in Las Vegas?”

Dani is bowled over by the idea

She is very enthusiastic about the idea, and says she has to get new clothes for the trip.

"I need some help with the delivery"

Dan the barman interrupts their conversation, asking for some help with the delivery which has just arrived,

Garry thinks he has convinced Dani

and Dani goes downstairs.

"I don't want to talk to you!"

As Eifion puts some rubbish in the bin, Iolo catches sight of him, but Eifion does not want to talk to him;

"You can't do this on your own"

Iolo is adamant, “You have to talk – you can’t do this on your own. I want to make sure you’re OK, especially after finishing with Cadno.

"We can do this here, or in the flat"

“Look, we can do this here, or in the flat – it’s up to you.” Eifion concedes and they go inside.

The DI refuses Hywel's request to go home

DI Davies returns to the interview room and informs Hywel that he cannot go home; she resumes the interview at 5:40pm.

"There is no doubt it was used to kill Sheryl"

“We’ve received the results of the forensic tests – the doorstop was scrubbed clean, but there were still traces of blood on it. There is no doubt that it was used to kill Sheryl.”

Hywel is getting even more worried

Hywel looks very concerned.

Sara is prepared for a romantic evening . . .

Sara is dressed in alluring garments and has a bottle of wine ready for when Jason comes home,

. . . but Jason is still hard at work

but he is busy, mixing concrete at APD when she phones him.

"I'm not wearing much, Jase"

“I’m on my own, and I’m not wearing much, Jase,” she informs him, “When are you coming home – so we can spend some time together before going out?”

"I'll be home later"

His reply is that he is in the middle of something, and will be home later, which she finds somewhat disappointing.

In the shop flat, Iolo says, “Colin told me that Cadno has gone – was it anything to do with Alun?”

"What will people think – you coming here/'

Eifion is furious and concerned about what people will think with Iolo coming to talk to him. “The fact that you creep around and avoid us is what will make people think you have something to hide,” Iolo tells him,

Iolo has had enough of this

“All right, I’ll leave you alone – your secret is safe with us!”

"What if we went away earlier?"

Garry announces to Dani that he has had another idea; “What if we went away earlier – as soon as we can?”

"It has to be after the funeral!"

She insists that it has to be after the funeral, as Sheryl would want her at the funeral, and she is not leaving Gethin on his own.

"So you don't want to hear the rest of the plan?"

“So you don’t want to hear the rest of the plan, then?” he goes on,

"Go on, tell me"

but she does want him to tell her. “As we’re going so far, I thought we could hire a car and see the sights.

"We can go for . . . six months, perhaps"

“We can go for six weeks – three months – six months, perhaps.” Dani is outraged by this, demanding what will happen to the business, and the family.

"Forget it, Garry!"

She angrily tells him to forget it.

"I'm fed up with trying to help him"

Iolo tells Tyler that he feels sorry for Eifion, but is fed up with making an effort to help him; Tyler advises phoning Alun. Sara arrives, reporting that the evening has been cancelled, and she has come to collect Ifan.

Sara arrives with a bottle . . .

“Jason’s working late as usual,” she moans, and presents them with a part bottle of wine, “It’s not all Jason’s fault – but since Dai and Diane went away, he’s working on his own in APD.

. . . and moans about her life

“All we do is look after Ifan, sleep and work!”

Then her phone rings, and she finds it is Dai, calling from the cruise ship; “Enjoying yourself, are you?” she says,

"I was married to a guy named Jason"

“Oh, Jason? I was married to a guy called Jason – I think that was his name – I never see him, Dai, because he’s too busy working for you at APD, while you drink cocktails!

"I hope you choke on the next one!"

“I hope you choke on the next one, OK? It’s not fair!”

Iolo gets her started on the wine

Iolo prescribes some more wine for her.

Eifion find it difficult to locate the 'best before' date

Colin tries to enlist Eifion’s help in counting the stock, but his mind is elsewhere and he admits he is not much use; “Well, you’ve got a lot on your mind,” Colin reassures him, “If you want to talk, I’m a good listener.

"Was it an affair, maybe?"

“Was there any particular reason why it all went pear-shaped between you and Cadno? An affair, maybe?”

Eifion does not deny it

Seeing Eifion’s downcast expression, Colin jumps to the conclusion that it was Cadno having the affair,

"Cadno – having an affair?"

and finds it unbelievable.

Sara is more jovial after the wine

Sara has managed to put away several glasses of wine by the time Jason arrives to collect her and Ifan. He apologises for ruining their night, but Iolo says that she has been entertaining them.

"I'm going to spoil you and Ifan"

Jason assures Sara, “When Mam and Dai come back from this cruise, I’m going to spoil you and Ifan, I promise.”

Just as well they are only going next door

He will take Sara home first and then come back for Ifan; Sara is somewhat tipsy as he supports her out of the door.

"What happened to Sheryl has made me realise . . ."

Garry explains to Dani, “What happened to Sheryl has made me realise all I want to do

". . . I want to spnd time with you and the children"

“is to spend as much time as I can with you and the children.”

She agrees that it makes you want to hold the people you love tightly,

"I include Gethin and Sheryl in the people I love"

and adds, “I include Gethin and Sheryl in the people I love – I have to go to the funeral,” she stresses, so he proposes they should go straight after the funeral.

"And no more than two weeks!"

She also stipulates that it will be for only two weeks,

Garry's dream has been thwarted

although Garry wants it to be much longer.

"You're not telling me why!"

She knows that there is another underlying reason why he is so eager to get away; “You’re not telling me why you want to go to America for six months.”

He maintains he keeps having flashbacks

He agrees to explain, “Since Sheryl died, I keep remembering things, terrible things – Brandon dying, Britt being shot, the atmosphere in this place. There’s a really bad vibe – I’m scared!”

"So you're scared of Cwmderi?"

Dani concludes that he is saying he is scared of Cwmderi; “Do you think I’m stupid? I can’t believe you’re using family tragedies –

Dani does not believe a word of it

“what’s the real reason?” He insists that there is no other reason.

"They want to infuriate you1'

Hywel paces up and down, with his solicitor urging him to sit down; “They want to infuriate you, so you lose your temper, until you break down and confess!” Hywel wishes that he would do his job, which is to get him out of there.

"Do you want to try and break me?"

Again DI Davies returns, and Hywel demands, “Do you want to keep me here to try and break me and make me confess?” She explains that she was waiting for something to be returned to the station,

The DI produces the rather vicious-looking doorstop

and produces the evidence bag containing the doorstop.

She draws his attention to one part of the doorstop; “This is where most of the blood was, and this is where it penetrated Sheryl’s skull,” the DI informs him,
