1 February 2018

"Thank you, Sheryl – it's lovely"
Non is having her hair done in the salon;  she tells Sheryl that she wants to look smart for the operation – if it goes ahead – but she has still not heard from the hospital.
"I may have said the wrong thing to the psychologist"
She fears that she may have said the wrong thing to the psychologist, as she was nervous;  “I’m sure I would have heard something by now,” she frets,
"Everything will be fine"
but Sheryl tells her that everything will be OK, and refuses to take any payment from her.
"Happy Birthday"
As she leaves, Non wishes Sheryl “Happy birthday!”
"We should do something tonight"
When Hywel comes in, Sheryl suggests that she should do something for her birthday, and asks if he fancies the Deri;  he replies that he has had a nightmare day,
"Can't we do it on Saturday?"
and thinks that they could do something on Saturday instead.   He also alleges that Elinor phoned to say that Esther might be going down with something.
He leaves for home, and on the way contacts Gethin,
"That's good, Hywel!"
telling him it is all arranged for tonight and that Sheryl has no idea.   Gethin, in the garage, seems very pleased to hear it,
Gethin is looking forward to this
and promptly begins to remove his overalls, smiling broadly.
Ceri is getting stuck in at Awyr Iach
Ceri is working well at Awyr Iach, but then Jason bursts in, frantic that he cannot find his driving licence.
"I can't hire a car without a driving licence"
“I can’t hire a car in Australia without one, can I?”
"Next to your socks!"
Sara knows exactly where it is – in the drawer next to his socks,
He helps with the paperwork
and he agrees to help her with some paperwork for a few minutes.
Non is walking along the street when her phone rings;
Non is about to collide with Hywel
she stops abruptly and almost collides with Hywel.
"Hello?"
She very gingerly answers the call.
Ricky laughs about the 'brewery in the garage' incident
In the café, Hannah asks Ricky if he heard about Dai and DJ brewing beer in the garage;  “Gran went ape!
"They're worse than children!"
“They’re worse than children!” she exclaims, and he replies that his mother is just as bad with Non, although she is now going through the transplant procedure again.
"It's on for tomorrow!"
Then Non walks into the café and announces to Ricky that the operation is on for tomorrow.   He tells her that he knew it would be OK,
"Can I go over and tell Mark?"
and Non would like to go over and tell Mark, if that is all right with Debbie.   “I’m sorry that you’ve had such a difficult time lately – and not just because of me – I heard about Vicky.”
"But don't tell him about Vicky"
Debbie urges her not to say anything to Mark about it;  “I don’t want him to be stressed before the operation.”   Non goes to tell him her good news.
Ffion is worried about leaving Arwen
Ffion and Gethin are at Sheryl’s house;  Ffion is anxious because she promised Elinor that they would pick up Arwen by 8.30pm.
Ffion's cake-making expertise
Hywel cannot wait to see Sheryl’s face, and Ffion begins putting candles on the birthday cake she has made.
"Happy birthday, dear Sheryl"
Then Sheryl arrives home and they sing, “Happy birthday,” to her.   She admires the cake,
Gethin wants his kiss
and Gethin cannot wait to give her a birthday kiss.
"That will save me a fortune in the airport!"
Jason is about to leave Awyr Iach to go home and do some packing;  she will cook him a meal tonight, which will save him a fortune at the airport.
Ceri is introduced to Hannah
Ceri has finished packing the last box, and DJ complements her on her work.
Hannah comes in with a present for her mother;
"I'll try to find room for it"
Jason thinks he will find room in his luggage for it, and says he will give Hannah’s regards to her homeland.
"Not too many tinnies, mind!"
She warns him not to have too many tinnies, as he is supposed to be looking after her mother.
"The time will fly by – you'll see"
Sara is looking quite tearful already, but Hannah assures her that the time will fly by.
"When do you want me to come in?"
Mark is speaking to the hospital on the phone, and asks when they want him to come in;
Then he sees Non
Non arrives, and they both feel rather nervous.   “When did you find out?” he asks her,
"I nearly collapsed when they phoned"
and she replies that she almost collapsed in the street when they phoned.
Mark's heart is also racing
Mark admits that his heart is racing, too.
He had better think about packing,
"I was almost sure they'd say no"
and Non remarks that she was almost sure they would say no – she did not want to get her hopes up.
"I wouldn't have been angry with you"
He stresses that he would not have been angry with her in that case, but she insists that it does not matter now, as the hospital is happy to go ahead – and she is happy.
"We're all nervous about it"
“We’re all nervous about it – you don’t have to pretend that you’re not,” Mark tells her, and she says that it is only natural to be nervous,
"I'm definitely ready, Mark"
but she maintains that she is ready.
A birthday toast, 'to Sheryl!'
The two couples drink a birthday toast, and Sheryl looks rather uneasy;  Ffion regards it as rather strange that someone is babysitting Arwen.
Ffion is still anxious about Arwen
“It’s the first time we’ve left her since her operation.”   Gethin is quite sure that she will be all right.
There is a knock at the door, and Hywel predicts that it might be a meal from Cwm Delhi.
Takeaway from Cwm Delhi
They clear the table to make room for the food, and Gethin looks suggestively at Sheryl.
"I'll come and see you as soon as I can walk"
Mark is packing his bag, watched by Non;  he says that he will come over and see Non once he can walk after the operation.   “If I haven’t come to see you first,” she replies.
He almost leaves his slippers behind, again
Debbie comes downstairs, enquiring if he has everything, and then produces his slippers, again.
"Leaving already, Dad?"
Ricky comes home, and is surprised that his father is leaving already;  he is told that the anti-rejection meds have to be started.   Mark assures Debbie that he will follow her to the car in a moment, then assures himself that Non will be all right;
"This time tomorrow, it will all be over"
“This time tomorrow, it will all be over,” he says,
"This time next week, we'll be back home"
and she adds that this time next week, they will be back home again.   After a final hug, he leaves for the hospital.
"Your reference is 32A"
Sara has arranged online check-in for Jason at the airport, and tells him that his reference number is 32A.   He thinks he has everything,
Sara is becoming tearful . . .
and Sara begins to cry, although she tells him she will be all right when he has gone.
. . . and Ifan joins her
Ifan takes this as his cue to begin crying.
"I don't want to go either!"
Jason adds that he does not want to go either, but there is no choice,
However, Jason has to do so
and he sadly leaves the house.
They are absolutely stuffed after their meal . . .
“Whoever thought of ordering a meal from Cwm Delhi is a genius,” declares Sheryl, when the have finished their meal, and Ffion says that she feels like a balloon.   Sheryl goes to get more wine,
. . . but randy Gethin is still trying it on
and Gethin also goes into the kitchen, intending to kiss her, although she tries to push him away.
"Stop it, Gethin!"
“Stop it, please!” she whispers,
She tries to push him away
as she tries to extricate herself from his clutches.
Ifan does a bit of early learning
Sara is teaching Ifan the names of animals, including cat and pig;  Hannah comes visiting and greets the baby.
"Hello, gorgeous!"
She thought that Sara would like some company;
"I realise what a big thing this is"
“I realise what a big thing it is that Jason’s gone to Australia,” she says, “I really appreciate it.   I do understand why Jason didn’t tell me about Mam, and I don’t want to argue with you.
"They're the ones acting like kids!"
“Diane and Uncle David treat me like a child, but they’re the ones acting like kids!”
"You're the most mature one in the family
Sara thinks that Hannah is the most mature one in that family, and adds that Jason is not flying until 5:00am.   “And then hours of films and leg cramps,” groans Hannah, “But we could enjoy a film here, if you like.”
"I have to get him to bed first"
Once Sara manages to get Ifan to bed, she will make a cup of tea and they can put their feet up.
Non is looking at the laptop, but abruptly closes it when Ricky comes in;
"Something dodgy?"
“Something dodgy?” he comments, and she begs him not to tell anyone.
"Urgh – gross!"
He looks, and remarks, “Urgh – gross!   Why are you looking at operations?”   She explains that she is trying to prove to herself that she is brave enough, this time, but is not really sure.
"I hope it does some good"
She hopes that it will do some good;  “Like all the other things?   Going to see the shrink, that weird breathing – and all the praying?” he asks,
"I've got something a lot better!"
“Well, I’ve got something a lot better!”   He gets out two game consoles, and even agrees to let her win, but only because she is helping Dad.
Ffion thinks it is time to go
Ffion thinks that it is time they left;  Gethin is adamant that he must help Sheryl to clear the table.
"Is he always this conscientious?"
Hywel wonders if he is always this conscientious.
Just as well Ffion did not see that
In the kitchen, Gethin demands that Sheryl turn round, and is almost caught by Ffion as he tells her he has booked a room at a hotel.
"I'll be waiting for you, lunchtime tomorrow!"
“I’ll be there at lunchtime tomorrow, waiting for you.”   He tucks the hotel’s card into Sheryl’s top, and she breathes a sigh of relief that at last he is going.
"Did you enjoy your surprise?"
“Did you enjoy your surprise?” Hywel enquires,
"You don't sound very happy"
“You don’t sound very happy,” but she insists that it is the wine, which she is not used to any more.   He kisses her,
Sheryl feels full of guilt
which makes her feel guilty, and she retrieves the card from her top.
