"I don't think she'll come now"
Outside the café, Jim comments hopefully, “I don’t think she’ll come now, if she’s been out since this morning,”
Eileen is trying not to think about Sioned
but Eileen does not want to talk about Sioned, or even to think about her.   This evening, a group of them are travelling to Ireland, leaving at about nine or ten from the Deri.
Hannah wants a good party . . .
In the alley, Hannah is talking to Chester about organising a party, which was to be held in the chip shop flat,
. . . but it will not be at the chip shop flat
but Colin is insisting on staying in.   “We’ve promised everyone a party,” she whines, “We’ll have to find somewhere else, or we’ll look like fools.”
Chester suggests that they could go to Bryntirion;  “DJ will probably be in the Deri,”
Hannah phones Ricky
and she will contact Ricky, to see if he has any other ideas.
Dai and Diane are all ready for their rugby trip
At Bryntirion, Dai and Diane are all ready for the trip to Ireland;  Dai moans about the amount of clothes Diane is taking.
"If the bus breaks down, we shall know why"
“If the bus breaks down on the way to Fishguard, we know why!” remarks DJ.   Dai recalls that all he used to take was a pair of pants, a spare shirt and a toothbrush – in a white plastic bag.
"I'm not going round with a tramp!"
Diane objects, “I’m not going round the pubs of Temple Bar with a tramp!”
Dai is in good voice already
They leave the house, as Dai sings, “I ask not for ease and riches, Nor earth’s jewels for my part.”
"Don't you have any idea where she is?"
Gwyneth buys a bunch of tulips from Eileen, and asks her, “Has Sioned been in touch?   You have no idea where she is?”
"No – and I don't care!"
Eileen replies that she has no idea and does not care.   “You’re such a good mother!” Gwyneth continues, and Eileen insists that she did her best for Sioned;  however, a point comes when she has to look after herself.
"Sorry, Maes-y-Deri is off limits"
Ricky arrives on his bicycle and informs them that his house is off-limits, as his father and Non are not budging.
"It will have to be Bryntirion, then"
Chester concludes that Bryntirion is the only option;  “I can sort DJ out – I’m sure I can!”
The singing has begun
In the Deri, the rugby fans are practising their singing;  “Sing the day and sing the night!”
"Go easy, Dai!"
Diane warns that Dai go easy on the beer, or he will be smashed before the bus arrives.
"You were conceived on a rugby trip, DJ!"
Dai reminds DJ that he was conceived in Paris, on a rugby trip, then orders another round from the stranger behind the bar, who apparently is called Ger.   He launches into another traditional Welsh tune.
Ed and Kelly also think Sioned is not coming
Ed and Kelly are walking past outside;  “If she intended to come back, she would be here by now, and we would have heard,” says Kelly, “As she is not here, we can celebrate tonight.”
"I just happen to have the APD keys"
DJ informs them that APD has closed early because of the rugby trip, but Ed persuades him to sell them a couple of pots of paint.
Inside the Deri, Dai tells everyone that Dublin is one of his favourite places,
"You just slow down, Dai!"
but Diane urges him to slow down or he will spoil the weekend for all of them.   “Don’t worry about me and beer – I’ve got years of experience!”
"Whisky chasers please, Ger"
He orders some whisky chasers, and Diane decides to have a large G&T.
Jim wishes that he was coming too, but points out with Sioned coming out of prison,
"I have to stay with Eileen"
he wanted to be here for Eileen, but there is no sign of her.   “Let’s hope that she is a long way from here!” he says, with feeling.

Once more they begin singing, “To each one of the faithful, under his banner,” to the hymn tune Rachie, [usually sung to the words, ‘Who is on the Lords side?’]
Who is this, arriving in the village?
Walking along the village street,
It is none other than Sioned!
we see Sioned, looking rather apprehensive;
Ed and Kelly emerge from APD
she sees Kelly and Ed coming out of APD with their paint, but they do not notice her.   When they have gone into number 10,
Sioned finds her name has been expunged from the shop
she continues, with the sound of lusty singing from the Deri, until she notices that the shop has been renamed.
Eileen counts the shop takings
In the shop flat, Eileen is counting the day’s takings when she hears someone coming upstairs;
An unwelcome visitor arrives
she is disturbed that it is Sioned.   “Aren’t you going to say welcome home?” she enquires, “I’ve just arrived – where is Jim?   I heard them singing in the Deri.
"I've learned my lesson"
“I’ve learned my lesson.”
"Oh yes – pull the other one!"
Eileen adopts her ‘I’ve heard this all before’ expression, as Sioned continues, as penitently as she can manage, “I’ve changed – you’re the most important person in my life – I want us to start over again.”
"I don't!"
Her mother is short and to the point;  “I dont!”   Sioned cannot believe that she will not be allowed to stay,
"I'm not the same person I was!"
and she insists that she is not the same person as she was, but Eileen points out, “You’re never going to change!”
“I don’t have a choice but to live with Gwyneth, then.   Anyone with a conscience would offer me somewhere to live – where else am I supposed to go tonight?   Sleep on the street?”
"I've wasted too much time being miserable"
Eileen replies curtly, “I want to get this money sorted out, and then go to the Deri.   I’m looking forward to a night out with Jim – I’ve wasted too much time being miserable over the years,” and resumes counting the money.   Sioned walks out of the flat.
Hannah, Chester and Ricky visit Bryntirion
DJ is sitting at home with a cup of tea, when Hannah, Chester and Ricky arrive;  “We’re just on our way to a party, and we were passing,” Chester begins, and Hannah elaborates that it is at a farm near Penrhewl.
"I might have a tipple now!"
Chester resumes, “I bought you this to say thank you for the driving lessons,” and hands a bottle of vodka to DJ, who decides he might have a tipple now.
Hannah asks if DJ is going to the Deri tonight, and he replies that he does not need to, as he has this bottle now.
Chester almost fills the glass
Chester pours him an extremely large glass of it, and they each have a can to join DJ.
"It feels odd to be back"
Sioned is welcomed by Gwyneth, who has a fridge full of food;  “It feels odd to be back, as if it’s not quite real,” Sioned says, “The first people I saw were Ed and Kelly, but they didn’t see me – they looked very comfortable.”
"I'll cook you anything you want"
Gwyneth offers to make anything she wants to eat.
"Mam didn't give me much of a welcome"
Sioned goes on, “I called on Mam, but didn’t get much of a welcome there!”
"I'm surprised you bothered"
Gwyneth wonders why she bothered, but Sioned insists that she wants to be reconciled to her.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time on her!” is Gwyneth’s opinion,
"I might call there tomorrow"
but Sioned thinks she may call in again tomorrow, as her mother might decide there is a way forward for them.   She is urged not to grovel and belittle herself;
"You can stay here as long as you want!"
she is welcome to stay here for as long as she wants.
The party is streamed live online
The party at Bryntirion is in full swing, and one of the guests is streaming it online from his phone.
"Have a drop of single malt!"
Ricky finds a bottle of single malt, and they sample it.
DJ, who is in much the same condition as them, is quite enjoying this party,
"Hey, that's Dad's best whisky!"
but then notices that the bottle Ricky is holding was Diane’s present to his father.   More people arrive and DJ wonders who they are.
Hannah is by now feeling seriously unwell . . .
Hannah is feeling seriously unwell after the whisky,
. . . and throws up online, for all the world to see
and rushes to the sink to throw up;  this action is also streamed online.
They all sing lustily, including Mal
Meanwhile, in the Deri, the singing is getting more raucous;  Kelly and Ed come in.
Someone shows Diane the online broadcast . . .
One of the rugby fans shows Diane the streaming video on his phone;
"Who films something like that?"
“Who films something like that?” she demands,
"That's Hannah – and our kitchen!"
then Dai realises it is Hannah, and that is their kitchen.   When Diane recognises the bottle of malt, she instructs Dai that they are going home, now.
"Right – we're going home – now!"
The bus has just arrived, but Diane warns, “If we don’t go home now, we won’t have a home left!”
Dai stomps out after her, shouting, “There’s a crisis at Bryntirion – nefi wen!”
"A bit of peace at last!"
As all the rugby fans troop out of the pub, Ed is pleased that they will get some peace at last.
Sioned and Gwyneth walk in . . .
However, Gwyneth and Sioned arrive;
. . . and the Deri goes quiet
those customers remaining look with horror, and Kelly comments, “Well, this is a turn-up for the books!   We were wrong all along!”
Gwyneth orders their drinks, while Kelly goes on, “Is this an overnight stop on the way to somewhere else?   When are you leaving?”
"Cut her a bit of slack!"
Gwyneth urges her to cut Sioned some slack;  “What – after what she’s done?”snarls Kelly.
Sioned emphasises that she has been on a couple of courses in the prison, where she learned a lot about herself.
"I have changed!"
“I know it’s hard to believe, but I have changed – all I want is a chance to prove it.”   Kelly bursts out laughing,
Eileen's reaction is to turn away
Eileen turns away from her
The party is in full swing . . .
The party at Bryntirion is becoming even more rowdy,
. . . with Catrin applying makeup to DJ
and Catrin is applying make-up to DJ, who is lying, semiconscious.
"Get out of my house – all of you!"
Dai and Diane burst in through the door, and everyone is ordered out of the house;
"Or I'll call the police!"
“Get out, the lot of you!” bellows Dai, “Get out of the way, you hooligans!   If you don’t get out now, I’ll call the police!”
"You should be on the ferry by now"
He wakes DJ, who remarks that he should be on the ferry by now.   “Look at this place!” Dai rants, “Get out of this place, every one of you.”   He promises to tell their parents, and finally they file out of the house.
Sioned sits on the sofa . . .
In the salon flat, Sioned pours herself a glass of water;
. . . and looks apprehensive
she sits on the sofa, again looking apprehensive.
Eileen has received a poison pen letter . . .
Eileen and Jim arrive home;  they have found a letter, which says that Eileen is a bad mother, that she has affairs and that Denzil would turn in his grave if he saw how Sioned has turned out.
. . . and Jim is suspicious
She wonders who would do this, but it appears that Jim has a pretty fair idea.
Diane lectures the three of them
Diane has lined up DJ, Hannah and Chester on the sofa;  “I can’t believe it!”   They are smashed ornaments, the coffee table is damaged, the toilet is blocked and there is a terrible mess upstairs.
"Whose idea was it to invite half the world here?"
“Whose idea was it to invite half the world here?   I saw Hannah being sick – and what is worse, half of the Deri saw it too, and who knows who else?
They blame each other
“I expect you to clear this mess up – now!
Hannah is grounded
“And you’re grounded, good girl – you’re not allowed out of my sight until you’ve grown up a bit!”
"You're going to pay for everything!"
Dai has his say;  “You two are going to pay for everything – do you hear me?   You’re paying to clean the house, you’re paying for the bus, tickets to the game, you’re paying for the hotel and the ferry!
They have landed themselves in a fix
“Every penny!”
