"You have to face people sometime" |

"I'm going now – alone" |

Eileen is studying the letter |
![]() |
"That won't tell you who sent it" |
![]() |
"It must be Sioned" |
![]() |
"I've learned a lot, Mam!" |
![]() |
"Living with Gwyneth is not the best thing" |
![]() |
"You're in no position to be fussy" |
“But I’m not happy there, Mam!” Sioned whines, while her mother simply smiles,
then explains to Jim that Sioned is not happy living with Gwyneth.
Sioned insists, “I was asking if I could stay here – it wouldn’t be for long – you’re my mother and we love each other!
“Well, I love you, anyway.”

"It's a shame you didn't think of that" |
![]() |
"You're on your own, Sioned!" |
![]() |
"Dad would be turning in his grave!" |
![]() |
"Still think she wrote it?" |

Diane is desperate to keep Hannah away from Chester |

"I hope Colin doesn't tell Mam" |

"I'd better go to the café" |

"You're looking better, Dani" |

"I had work to do at school" |

"You could have died from alcohol poisoning" |

"Oh, Carol is lovely!" |

"I finish at 2:30pm" |
![]() |
"Your anonymous letter, criticising me" |
![]() |
"I wouldn't waste my time" |
“Her living here is mine and Sioned’s business – we’re happy – just leave us alone!”
Eileen queries whether they are happy, mentioning that Sioned wanted to move back in with them this morning, but stresses that she refused. “Exactly what I’d expect you to do,” Gwyneth replies.
![]() |
"Well, Sioned wants to move back in with us" |
![]() |
"Phone me!" |
![]() |
Garry is about the only one to welcome Sioned |
![]() |
Gwyneth is soon checking up on her |
![]() |
"I saw Carol in the café" |
![]() |
"Dani has moved out!" |
“Don’t get any ideas, now that Garry is single,” warns Gwyneth,
“What are you going to do? Move back in with your mother without telling me? She told me, and I also know she rejected you!”
![]() |
"You going to move back in with your mother?" |

Diane collects Hannah from school . . . |
![]() |
. . . and bans her from seeing Chester |
She instructs Gaynor that the two of them are to be kept apart in school; “There’s no point in Colin and me keeping them apart if they can do whatever they like here!”
Gaynor demands what she is doing here, as the public are not allowed on school premises, and that children are to be collected at the school gates.
![]() |
"You're supposed to wait by the gates!" |
![]() |
"I'm a councillor!" |
![]() |
Chester and Gaynor look at each other |
![]() |
"I didn't ask Mam if I could move in" |
![]() |
"She said I wrote an anoymous letter" |
“She did exactly the same with me – I don’t know what’s wrong with her!” Sioned comments,
and Gwyneth says Eileen has probably spent too long with Sioned, who is quite adamant she does not want to go back there to live.
![]() |
"She's spent too long with you!" |
![]() |
"I've been trying to get hold of you!" |
![]() |
"Where did you get £30,000?" |
![]() |
"Tell me!" |
![]() |
"Don't worry – I won't steal anything" |
![]() |
"I feel responsible" |
![]() |
"You should keep away from him" |
![]() |
Sioned recoils from Gwyneth's touch |
![]() |
Gaynor gives her verdict |
![]() |
"She's more likely to shout across the road" |
Gaynor continues, “Yes, she was the same at school – I remember Denzil coming to me many times, concerned about her – he thought the world of her, and I couldn’t understand her bad behaviour.”
Eileen jumps to the ridiculous conclusion that Gaynor could be the writer;
understandably, she is extremely affronted.
![]() |
Eileen makes a rather stupid accusation |
![]() |
"Me? Certainly not!" |
“What we discussed the other day has turned up in a letter,” explains Eileen,
but then backs down; however she has already upset Gaynor.
![]() |
"Sorry, Gaynor, I've made a mistake" |
![]() |
"I don't live here any more" |
![]() |
"Why did you withdraw £15,000?" |
![]() |
"I wouldn't do that, to Carol or you" |
![]() |
"It's Gethin's half of the inheritance" |
![]() |
"They've been through a lot" |
![]() |
"It's not fair to keep us apart!" |
![]() |
Diane lists the disadvantages of finding her own place |
![]() |
"Haven't you ever been in love?" |
![]() |
"I'm only doing it for your own good" |
![]() |
"I can't believe you accused Gaynor!" |
![]() |
"I don't want to argue over a letter" |
![]() |
Eileen also apologises . . . |
![]() |
. . . and tears up the letter |
![]() |
Things are fraught, already |
![]() |
"You're ashamed of me!" |
![]() |
"All this is new to me!" |
![]() |
"I'll help you" |
![]() |
"Remind me I haven't got anywhere else to go" |
Sioned appreciates the reminder that she does not have anywhere else to live. “That’s not what I meant – please, don’t treat me as one of your enemies!” Gwyneth pleads,
and Sioned acknowledges that she is one of the only people round here who is not an enemy. She offers to cook dinner, and asks if pizza would be OK;
Gwyneth says that Gwern would love that.
