| Sioned is sitting, alone and rejected |
Sioned is sitting alone in the café; Gwyneth notices her and comes in, wanting to know why she has such a long face.

| "You were very quiet last night" |
“I’m worried about you – you were very quiet last night,” she says, “Are you working today?”
 |
| Sioned tells a story about being sacked |
Sioned replies, “You might as well know – I’ve been sacked. There was a mixup with an order, they said it was my fault.” Gwyneth wonders why she did not mention it; “It’s nothing to be proud of,” she is told.
 |
| Gwyneth is pleased if this means Garry is out of the way |
Gwyneth is confident that she will find a better job,
 |
| "I'm going to the job centre" |
and then Sioned gets up, alleging that she is going to the job centre.
 |
| Mathew has only just heard about Dani |
Mathew arrives at the hospital, having only just heard about Dani’s accident;
 |
| Just what Dani needs to spoil her breakfast |
she says that he did not need to come, but as usual he demands why she lets Garry do this to her. She points out that it was an accident,
 |
| "It was Garry's fault!" |
but he is convinced, “It was his fault! You were running away, weren’t you, from him and Sioned?”
 |
| "The jungle drums have been at work, then" |
Dani realises that the jungle drums have been at work, and admits, “I wasn’t expecting to see them like that – I only wanted to talk about Carol – and then I fell.”
 |
| "If he was not messing with Sioned . . ." |
Mathew will not relent, “If he was not messing with Sioned, you wouldn’t be in here.”
 |
| "I didn't want him around" |
Dani says that she is so angry with Garry, she did not want him around. “Good – make sure it stays that way,” Mathew instructs her, “And stop making excuses for him – you could have broken your neck!
 |
| "This proves that Garry Monk is bad news!" |
“If this doesn’t prove that Garry Monk is bad news, I don’t know what will! Isn’t it time for you to forget about him?”
 |
| "But he's my husband!" |
She replies, “He’s my husband, no matter what you say.”
 |
| Debbie returns, but is not welcomed |
Debbie returns from the café with some of Mark’s favourite cakes, but he decides he is going upstairs for a nap.
 |
| "You're not going to buy him with a couple of fondant fancies!" |
Kath tells her, “You’re not going to buy him with a couple of fondant fancies!”
 |
| "You're enjoying this, aren't you?" |
Debbie detects that Kath is enjoying the fact that she is sleeping on the sofa,
 |
| "Mark's been really hurt here!" |
but is told, “Mark’s been really hurt here!” Debbie points out that if she had kept quiet about the abortion, everything that would have been all right. As it is, Kath has ruined everything and upset everyone. She walks out of the house.
 |
| "Why do you stick up for him?" |
Mathew keeps up his onslaught; “Why do you stick up for him, despite everything he’s done to you? You forgave him for Sioned, but he can’t forgive you for us. You gave him another chance – how can you love someone who treat you like dirt?”
 |
| "I can't help it" |
She says that she cannot help it.
“What sort of example is that for Carol?” he demands, “He can do whatever he wants, and you’ll take it.
 |
| "You should be with someone who loves you!" |
“Dan, you deserve to be with someone who loves you – who thinks the world of you and adores you. Not someone who puts you through hell, because he’s upset. Please, open your eyes, before you end up in a coffin!”
 |
| Then Garry arrives |
At this point, the door opens and Garry comes in; he asks Dani not to throw him out again, as there is something he needs to say. Mathew tells him to go home,

| Dani will give him five minutes |
but Dani agrees to give Garry five minutes. Mathew reluctantly leaves the room.
 |
| "Dani is going to be all right" |
In the Deri, Jim tells Elgan that Dani is going to be all right;
 |
| "She was running away from Garry and Sioned" |
as he explains that she fell downstairs when she was running away from Garry and Sioned, Gwyneth arrives at the bar.
 |
| "She had just caught them . . . at it!" |
“She had just caught them . . . you know . . . at it!”
 |
| This does not please Gwyneth one little bit |
Gwyneth looks outraged at this information, and Jim adds, “Trouble follows Sioned wherever she goes.”
 |
| "Kath has looked through my medical records" |
Elgan is on his way back to the surgery when Debbie shouts, “Oi! I want a word with you! Kath has looked through my medical records – on your computer – you didn’t switch it off!
 |
| "We're supposed to be able to trust doctors" |
“She’s seen everything – and she’s told Mark about my abortion. He didn’t have a clue, and now he can hardly look at me. We’re supposed to be able to trust doctors – I want you to sort Kath out!”
 |
| Elgan will sort the matter out – now |
The doctor agrees that he will do just that, and asks where Kath is now.
 |
| "I wasn't going to sleep with her" |
In the hospital, Garry once more insists that he was not going to sleep with her, and had already told her that.
 |
| "You were all over each other, like a rash!" |
“You were all over each other, like a rash!” Dani comments, but he says that when it came to the crunch, he could not do it – because of Dani.
 |
| "I don't want Sioned" |
“I don’t want Sioned,” he declares, but Dani reminds him that he has wanted her before,
 |
| "And you got her pregnant!" |
and he got her pregnant, but he dismisses this as a mistake. Dani is now suspicious of everything,
 |
| "It's you I want – no-one else" |
but he is adamant, “It’s you I want – no-one else. You were right, I was using Sioned – I wanted you to feel the way I felt when I found out about you and him. I wanted to hurt you, because I was hurting. But I never wanted you to end up here! When I saw you at the foot of the stairs . . .

| "I'm not going to see Sioned again" |
“I’m not going to see Sioned again.”
 |
| "You can't come in here, blaming me!" |
Elgan is at Maes-y-Deri, and Kath complains, “You can’t just march in here and blame me! I happened to see the notes when I was dusting –

| "You should have turned off your computer!" |
“it’s your fault for not turning off your computer properly!”
 |
| "You deliberately read confidential notes!" |
He tells her that she should have walked away when she realised what was on the screen, but instead, she deliberately read Debbie’s private medical notes. “And worse than that, you shared the contents with your son – after signing a confidentiality agreement!”
 |
| "Mark had a right to know" |
Kath argues that Mark had a right to know,
 |
| "Not if Debbie didn't want him to know!" |
but he replies, “No, not if Debbie didn’t want him to know! She has a right to confidentiality, like all the surgery’s patients. Do you realise how serious it would be if this story came out?”
She rather lamely replies that she is not going to tell anyone, and Elgan warns her, “Make sure you don’t dare open your mouth, you will be in trouble!”

She demands if he is threatening her,

| Elgan sacks her – twice |
and he confirms, “I’m sacking you from the surgery and Llwyncelyn!”
 |
| "You've been telling lies again!" |
Sioned walks through the alley and encounters Gwyneth, who asks how it went at the job centre; “If that’s where you went! You’ve been telling lies again, haven’t you?
 |
| "I know about you and Garry!" |
“I know about you and Garry – you swore nothing was going on – do you expect me to believe you now?”
 |
| "He was only comforting me" |
Sioned explains that Dani had been horrible to her, and Garry was simply comforting her. “That’s not what I heard!” snarls Gwyneth, “After all I’ve done for you, you were carrying on with him!
 |
| "You've made a fool of me!" |
“You’ve led me on and made a fool of me – after I stood in that court and risked everything for you!”
 |
| "This is not the place" |
Sioned says that this is not the place to discuss it, and walks away.
 |
| "Are you proud of yourself?" |
When Debbie returns home, Kath taunts her, “Are you are proud of yourself? Now I’ve lost two jobs in two minutes because of you.” Debbie is very pleased to hear that she has been sacked from Llwyncelyn as well,
 |
| "That's £72 a week less" |
but Kath points out, “That’s £72 a week less toward the bills – it’s not just me losing out – we all lose out!”
 |
| "Well, now they know you can't be trusted!" |
Debbie is pleased that now they know she cannot be trusted, and once again Kath goes on,
“What you did was far worse!” Debbie explains that she could not cope with another baby at that age,
 |
| "I coped when I was 16 years old!" |
but Kath boasts that she coped when she was 16 years old.
“What if I had got rid of Mark? Have you thought of that? I knew it would be difficult, and I was scared!”
 |
| Mark walks in on the hostilities |
Mark walks in on this slanging match, and his mother takes delight in describing how she has lost both her jobs.
 |
| "I would have thrown her out!" |
“I don’t understand why she’s still here!” Kath rants, “If I were you, I would have thrown her out as soon as I found out she’d killed your baby!”
 |
| "It was not an easy decision!" |
Debbie pleads that it was not an easy decision, in fact it was very hard – and it still is. “Every time I see new babies, I think what I’ve done, and it gets me, here!”
 |
| "Mam – that's enough!" |
“It’s a bit late to feel guilty!” snarls Kath, but Mark tells her to leave it.
 |
| "I'm not interested in Garry" |
Back in the salon flat, Sioned attempts to explain that nothing is going to happen between her and Garry, as she is not interested. Gwyneth is far from reassured.
 |
| "Now you've been caught out!" |
“You’ve said that before, but now you’ve been caught out. Are you worried that I’d throw you out?
 |
| "I don't want Garry Monk's sloppy seconds!" |
“I don’t want Garry Monk’s ‘sloppy seconds’! That’s what you are!”
 |
| "I thought we were friends" |
Sioned protests that she thought they were friends, but Gwyneth was under the impression they were more than that;
 |
| "All the time you were obsessed with Garry!" |
“You let me think it was only a matter of time until we ‘moved on’. I was willing to wait until you were ready – but the whole time you were obsessed with Garry!” Although Sioned vehemently denies it, Gwyneth continues, “People round here are right – you are a bitch! But no-one takes advantage of me – no-one, do you hear?”

| Sioned is given a hefty shove |
She pushes Sioned across the room, and is begged to stop it, but she does not;
 |
| "I know you would never hurt me" |
“I know you would never hurt me,” whimpers Sioned, without much conviction, but Gwyneth, with a particularly evil look in her eye, demands who she thinks pushed her down the stairs in the café.
 |
| "It was me!" |
“It was me!” she announces triumphantly.
 |
| Sioned is now getting really scared |
“You’ve picked on the wrong person this time!”
 |
| Carol is out for a walk . . . |
Outside, Garry is taking Carol for a walk,
 |
| . . . and Garry hears breaking glass |
when the sound of breaking glass can be heard from the flat above, but he thinks nothing of it. He tells Carol, “Mami is coming home – and you’re going to be spoilt rotten!”
 |
| "We can't carry on like this' |
At Maes-y-Deri, Debbie says that they cannot carry on like this; “You can hardly look at me,” she tells Mark. Again, his mother interrupts, and he tells her to shut it.
 |
| "I don't want to throw everything away" |
“I know you’re angry with me, but I don’t want to throw everything away over this – I love you!” declares Debbie,
 |
| "You have a funny way of showing it" |
but he thinks she has a funny way of showing it.
 |
| "If I had been younger . . ." |
“If I had been younger, and things were different, I would have kept the baby,” she assures him,
 |
| "The time is never right!" |
and there is another interjection from Kath, to the effect that the time is never right.
 |
| "Mam – mind your own business!" |
Mark tells her to mind her own business.
“I know I’ve hurt you, but if you don’t think we can work through this, there’s not much point carrying on, is there?” Debbie suggests, but neither of them want to split up, which Kath finds disappointing. Mark stresses that this is hard for him, and he cannot forget just like that – it will take time.

| "I'll try to forgive you in time" |
She vows that she will never go behind his back again, and he will try to forgive her in time.
Kath cannot resist butting in again, and warns Mark that Debbie is guaranteed to hurt him again.
 |
| "I don't want to see you hurt again!" |
“I know her, Mark – and I don’t want to see you hurt again!”
He demands that if he can try to forgive Debbie, why cannot she; then his mother’s underlying prejudice comes out.
 |
| "She's not good enough for you!" |
“She’s not good enough for you – and this abortion business proves it!” Debbie rushes from the room and goes upstairs.
 |
| Gwyneth tries to clear up broken glass . . . |
Gwyneth carefully picks up pieces of glass from the floor, some of them bloodstained,
 |
| . . . and bloodstains from the carpet |
and tries to remove the blood from the carpet.
 |
| What has she done? |
The realisation of what she has done appears to be dawning .
