Garry prepares for Dani's return . . . |
Britt arrives at the Deri flat as Garry is furiously vacuuming;
. . . and enlists Britt's help |
he tells her to put the flowers in water while he finishes tidying. “Dani’s coming home!” he announces,
"I don't want you to be let down" |
but she cautions that she does not want him to be let down. He is quite clear, “Dani and I have sorted things out – we understand each other.”
Britt warns that it is a big step, moving back here, and he replies that is why he wants it to be perfect for her.
Gwyneth carries a bin bag . . . |
Gwyneth enters a bedroom at the salon flat, opens a wardrobe
. . . into which she puts some clothes . . . |
and begins to put clothes from it into a black bag;
. . . and the photo of Sioned and her mother |
she turns to see a photo of Sioned and her mother, and that too goes into the bag.
"A plaque to mark the first pupils to get engaged" |
In the café, Chester is suggesting to Gaynor that a plaque should be put up in the sixth form to commemorate the first pupils to become engaged. She is not receptive to this idea, insisting they will have to be punished for this:
Gaynor sets a thousand-word essay |
“Not for being engaged – but for leaving school without permission and missing lessons. I’m sticking to the guidelines, so come and see me this afternoon – you’ll have an essay to do as part of the punishment – a thousand words on Romeo and Juliet by tomorrow.”
"That was rather cruel" |
As they leave, Ffion describes that as cruel, but Gaynor replies that they have no-one but themselves to blame.
"I shall be working late tonight" |
Gethin comes in for a takeaway coffee, and seems to ignore Ffion; then he tells her he will be working late tonight,
"I was not going to tell you" |
adding that he decided not to tell her.
Eileen agrees that she always makes it bad decisions,
"I think she's learned her lesson this time!" |
and Gwyneth assures her, in a rather chilling tone, “I think she’s learned her lesson this time!”
"You're home, Dani" |
Dani arrives back from hospital,
"We're going to spoil you rotten" |
and Garry tells her that she will not have to lift a finger until she is fully recovered; “Carol and I are going to spoil you rotten!”
"I can't come back to live here!" |
Dani whispers, “I can’t come back here to live – I can’t do it! It’s not just you and Sioned, but it’s me and Mathew, too.”
"I've forgiven you" |
Garry stresses that he has forgiven her, but she is adamant she has not forgiven himself;
"I don't want to be reminded every day" |
“The last thing I want is to be reminded every day of where it all went wrong.
"I'm not going to change my mind" |
“I’m not going to change my mind – please take me back to Tyler’s and Iolo’s house, and bring Carol over.
"In a couple of months I'll be Mrs Llywelyn - the third" |
Ffion has had her hair washed at the salon; Sheryl remarks, “Imagine, a couple of months and I’ll be Mrs Llywelyn, the third!”
"No, the fourth – don't forget Stacey!" |
Ffion corrects her, that she will be the fourth, as she must not forget Stacey.
“The biggest mistake Hywel ever made was marrying into the Jones family!” says Sheryl.
Ffion does not think she was much better for him;
"My life has been a series of catastrophes" |
“My life has been a series of catastrophes, one after another. I was happy with Gethin – Hywel must have told you about Moc’s money.” Sheryl does not know what she is talking about,
She tells of Moc and the money |
so Ffion enlightens her about Dani wanting to make sure that Gethin had his share, so she took the money and pretended it had come from somewhere else.
"I ignored every word Hywel said" |
“I didn’t have anyone else to talk to, so I told Hywel, and asked for his opinion. He gave me some good advice, but I ignored every word he said.”
"Chester, turn that music down!" |
In the chippy flat, Hannah is trying to write her essay, and asks Chester to turn down the music, but he refuses,
"I'm not doing it!" |
saying he is not going to bother with the essay. “Hannah, we’re in the sixth form – Mrs Llywelyn can’t punish us for disappearing for a few hours.”
"If you want to be a swot, do it in the bedroom" |
She does not want to make matters worse, but he replies, “If you want to be a swot, go and do it in the bedroom.”
She is not keen on working amidst Chester’s dirty clothes;
"Do you know how annoying you are?" |
“Do you know how annoying you are?” Hannah demands, and rushes to the bedroom.
"Is everything all right, Chester?" |
Britt has just come in, and asks him if everything is all right; she detects some friction between him and Hannah, which makes her smile.
"We could buy a new house, Dani" |
Garry has returned Dani to number 7, and suggests that if she does not want to live at the Deri, they could buy a new house;
"In the hospital you said you loved me" |
“ In the hospital you said you loved me.” Dani says she cannot do this now,
"Can you go now, Garry?" |
and wants him to go home, so he reluctantly leaves.
"I know about your secret!' |
As they do the washing-up, Sheryl tells Hywel she knows about his secret; “Giving Ffion advice, and keeping quiet.”
"Ffion had no-one else to talk to" |
He replies that Ffion had no one else to talk to, but she insists, “I thought we told each other everything.
"I wouldn't have told anyone, would I?" |
“The man I’m marrying has been sharing secrets with his ex-wife. It’s funny that you didn’t tell me – I wouldn’t have told anyone, would I?”
"Perhaps you could talk to them" |
He concedes that perhaps he should not have kept quiet about it, but suggests that Sheryl could talk to them, as they do not seem to be a very good place at the moment.
"You and Gethin were close at one time, weren't you?" |
“You and Gethin were close at one time, weren’t you? You could bring him to his senses – without help from their friends, separation looks like their only option.”
Garry returns with Carol |
As Garry brings Carol back to number 7,
"Welcome home, Dani" |
Gethin welcomes her home, and she invites him for a cup of tea later.
From her vantage-point, Eileen keeps watch |
She and Garry go inside, and Eileen is watching from the shop.
"I'm going back to school!" |
Chester sits down for his lunch, but Hannah decides she will go back to school; “I need to go to the library – and we are supposed to see Mrs Llywelyn this afternoon – the last thing we need is more hassle, Chest!”
He dismisses a couple of hours' detention |
He replies that an hour or two of detention is much easier than an essay, and she goes off alone.
"Are you sure everything is all right?" |
“Are you sure everything is all right? You can always talk to your mother,” Britt says, trying to suppress her delight that they are arguing,
Chester is rather anxious |
but it is obvious that Chester is worried.
Carol revels in the attention |
Dani is making a fuss of Carol, and says that she knows what Garry’s game is –
"You're taking advantage of the situation" |
he is taking advantage of the situation to put more pressure on her. “I know you, OK? Let’s get this straight once and for all –
"It's over between us, Garry!" |
“I’m not coming back to the Deri – and don’t use Carol. You have to understand that it is over between us – we can’t turn back the clock.
Garry is told there is no hope |
“There is no hope – you have to accept that. He gets up and walks out of the house without a further word.
"Someone is in a lot of trouble!" |
Hannah returns to apologise to Chester, and advises him, “I saw Mrs Llywelyn – and someone is in a lot of trouble. Stop sulking, Chest – it doesn’t suit you.
"Living together is difficult!" |
“It’s all too much at times – living together is difficult! I’m not used to being with someone 24/7.”
Is this going the way Britt planned? |
Britt is listening to this conversation, but looks rather disappointed when Hannah continues,
"We need a bit more patience" |
“We’re both of us getting used to it – we need a bit more patience and an effort to be tidy, bearing in mind that there are two of us in the room. I want us to understand each other a bit better.”
No – things are not going according to plan |
Seeing them kissing is the last straw for Britt, so she angrily storms off to the Deri,
"Someone's not happy!" |
while they settle down on the sofa.
Gwyneth and Gwern are going somewhere |
Gaynor comes across Gwyneth and Gwern getting into a taxi, and is not happy that she was not informed that he is going to miss school.
"What's your problem?" |
“It’s almost Easter – what’s your problem?” Gwyneth demands.
"Where are they going, then?" |
Further along the street, Eileen asks where they are going, and Gaynor tells her they are off for a few days in the sun; “Mind you, she did have a very large suitcase for only a few days,” Gaynor adds.
"I don't want to see you for a few days" |
Garry leaves number 7 with Carol, and Dani tells him she does not want to see him for a few days:
Eileen watches as Garry leaves with Carol |
Eileen is also watching this from across the road.
Randy Gethin is at it again |
Gethin has gone to see Sheryl, and is heavily involved in kissing her; “I want to go away somewhere, just you and me,” he says, but she replies that they cannot.
"A nice hotel, a chance to enjoy ourselves" |
“Come on – a couple of nights, a long way from here – a nice hotel, a chance to enjoy ourselves,” he goes on.
"Go away with Ffion – she's your partner!" |
Sheryl tells him to go away with Ffion, but he insists he wants to be with her. She reminds him that Ffion is his partner, and that he should spend the time with her. “This was only meant to be a bit of fun – OK?”
"Hi, Geth, what are you doing here?" |
Then they hear the front door, but Gethin refuses to escape through the back. Hywel is surprised to find him there,
Sheryl makes excuses for him |
and Sheryl makes the excuse that he wanted a couple of wedding magazines, as he and Ffion have decided to try to move on.
"I've decided to save our relationship" |
“I’ve decided that I should try to save our relationship,” lies Gethin, and leaves the house.
"I know you're lying!" |
“I know you’re lying!” Hywel tells Sheryl, “It wasn’t Gethin’s idea –
"You've had a word with him" |
“you’ve had a word with him.” She says the last thing she wants is for Ffion and Gethin to split up,
Sheryl hardly considers herself an angel |
and Hywel describes her as an angel.
"You must have done something!" |
“So cleaning was a waste of time, and flowers were a waste of money!” is Britt’s evaluation, “What have you done this time? You must have done something – why else would she refuse to come home?”
"Dani's not thinking straight" |
He replies that Dani is tired and is not thinking straight, but his sister sees through that explanation;
"Who are you trying to fool?" |
“Who are you trying to fool – me or yourself?”
"Why won't she come home?" |
Garry wonders, “If she loves me, why won’t she come home?” Britt suggests that it may be because he has made a fool of her, in front of the whole of Cwmderi.
"If you'd used your common sense" |
“If you’d used your common sense and shown some respect for her, you would get some sympathy. But what did you do?
Garry is told a few home truths |
“You used Sioned to play games! I told at the time it was a mistake, but what did you do? Ignored my advice –
"You're on your own this time!" |
“so, sorry to disappoint you, Garry, but you’re on your own this time!”
