DS Davies visits Penrhewl
DS Davies arrives at Penrhewl at breakfast time;
She begins questioning Eifion
she has a few questions for Eifion, about the attack on Tyler.
"I understand there is some animosity"
Cadno wants to know what it has to do with Eifion;  “I understand that there is some animosity between you and Tyler,” the DS says,
Eifion says he cannot remember
“Is it true you argued recently?”   He maintains he cannot remember what they argued about, but she presses the point.
"It was only a joke"
“It was a joke about someone in the village,” he replies, “And he took it the wrong way – he was angry, but I didn’t know he couldn’t take a joke.”
"Where were you on Friday afternoon?"
Then he is asked where he was on Friday afternoon;  “Here, probably –
"We were both in the Deri, weren't we?"
“come to think of it, we were both in the Deri, weren’t we?”   Cadno confirms his statement, so the DS wants to know where he was before he went there.   “I had a trim in Sheryl’s salon,” he tells her, “Then I went for a pint, and we went home together.”
"Why did you lie?"
As soon as the officer has left, Cadno demands, “Why did you lie?   You went off in a huff,” but he alleges that he cannot remember,
"Backing me up was the right thing to do"
and that backing up his story was the right thing to do.
"What have you done, Eifion?"
She demands, “What have you done?   Why does she have you down as a suspect?   What secrets are you keeping from her – and me?”
Dani has left the baby with Garry
Sioned comes into the Deri, where Garry is looking after Carol;  “Dani wanted to go and visit Tyler,” he tells her.
Sioned says he can take the baby upstairs while she looks after the bar, and detects that someone needs her nappy changed;
"I'm sure you know what to do"
“I’m sure you know what to do,” she smiles, “Do it now, or the punters will stay away!”
"How long is this silent treatment going to last?"
Over breakfast,  Ffion demands how long the silent treatment is going to last;  Gethin is still in a very angry mood.

"Perhaps I did go too far"
“Look, perhaps I did go too far yesterday,” she begins,
"You should think before you speak!"
but he insists that she should think things through before she speaks.   “How are we going to sort this out?” she asks,
"I'm not sure that we can"
but Gethin is not sure that they can.
"Do you want us to split up?"
“Do you want us to split up?   What are you saying?   Geth, talk to me!” she pleads, but he gets up
He simply walks out
and storms off to the garage.
"Where did you go after the Deri?"
Cadno demands where Eifion went after leaving the Deri;  “I want to know!”   He maintains that he does not remember, then says he sat in the car for while, and accuses Cadno of being worse than DS Davies.
Eifion is getting very angry
“I sat in the car, listening to music and then I came home – happy?”
"Did you attack Tyler?"
Cadno asks him outright if he attacked Tyler;  “Tell me, one way or the other!”
He unconvincingly says he did not
He still insists that he did not.
"There was no gas mask!"
Garry comes back downstairs, regretting that there was no gas mask in the changing bag;  then the DS comes in,
"Gin and tonic, sergeant?"
and he asks whether she wants a gin and tonic.
Sioned will keep an eye on Carol
Sioned agrees to go up and keep an eye on Carol while he speaks to the officer.
"Where were you last Friday afternoon?"
“Where were you between 3:00pm and 3:30pm last Friday,” DS Davies enquires, and he concludes that this is connected with the attack on Tyler.   “We are trying to create a picture of what exactly happened,” she informs him.
“Take your notebook out, and draw a big black line through my name –
"It wasn't anything to do with me!"
“it wasn’t anything to do with me!” he states quite clearly.   The DS is by no means convinced of this.
Sioned's motherly instinct kicks in
Upstairs, the baby cries, and Sioned tries to pacify her;
"There's no need to cry, is there?"
“There’s no need to cry, is there?”
"Are you all right, Ffion?"
Ffion meets Hywel in the alley;  he asks if she is all right, and she replies that Gethin is hardly talking to her.
"He burned all that money!"
“He burned the money – it’s all turned to ash!”
Sheryl is watching
Sheryl is watching them from the side window of the salon.
"That's a bit drastic!"
Hywel is surprised that Gethin would go to such extreme lengths, and Ffion says there was so much they could have done with that money;  “I don’t know if we’ll ever get through this!” she laments.
"He or she would have been the same age"
When Garry goes upstairs, he finds Sioned cuddling the baby;  “He or she would have been the same age,” she says, “Dark hair, brown eyes, just like you – and me.
"He would have been absolutely gorgeous!"
“I think it would have been a boy – and he would have been absolutely gorgeous!   I think of him every day – not an hour goes by, but I think of what could have been.
"It could have been totally different"
“It could have been totally different.”
"You would be up to your eyes in nappies!"
“Yes, you would be up to your eyes in nappies and talc,” Garry replies, and Sioned says she would have loved it, as she was ready to have a baby, and it was what she wanted more than anything.
"Do you think I would have been a  good mother?"
“Do you think I would have been a good mother?” she asks, and he thinks that it is time they went back downstairs.
Eifion looks at the notice . . .
Eifion looks at the police sign
. . . giving details of the incident
by the alley and appears worried;
"How is Tyler?"
then he sees Dani and asks how Tyler is.   She says that he is getting a bit better every day;  “He hit his head so hard, he doesn’t remember anything, and no-one knows whether his memory will return.”
"Are you going for a walk with Dadi?"
Inside the Deri, Sioned asks, “Are you going for a walk with Dadi?   Aren’t you lucky?”   She checks that Garry has enough blankets, and urges him to use another one.
Dani is horrified by what she sees
Dani walks in on this scene of domestic bliss, and promptly walks out again.
"You would have made a good mother"
Before he leaves, Garry tells Sioned, “You would have made a good mother, you know.”
Gwen has had her hair done
Gwen is just leaving the salon after having her hair done
Dani is troubled
when Dani walks along the street, looking worried.   Sheryl asks her what is wrong, and is told that she has just seen Garry with Sioned and Carol.
"They were like a perfect family"
“Garry was talking to Carol into the pram and Sioned was there – she was looking and smiling and behaving like a perfect family!”
"Now she wants Carol too!"
Sheryl reminds her that she is Carol’s mother, but Dani squeals, “She’s pushed her way into the Deri, and now she wants Carol too!   You didn’t see them – she was fussing over Carol as if she knew it all.
"I don't want her near Carol!"
“I don’t want her near Carol – I don’t want her near Garry either!”
"You don't want Garry back?"
Sheryl is surprised that she wants Garry back, after all that he has done, and encourages her to get her thoughts straight.   “He has given you so much grief – and he’s still doing it.   You don’t really want him back, do you?    You’re all right without him!”
"Being a single mother was not part of the plan"
Dani points out that being a single mother was not part of the plan, and that she does not want to adapt, however has not worked out yet what she is going to do.   “But I don’t want Sioned making the decision for me!”
That car seems to spend a lot of time in the garage!
Ffion goes to the garage with some lunch for Gethin,
"I'm up to my eyes in work!"
but he says he is up to his eyes in work.   He might be able to spare five minutes,
DS Davies wants to talk to Gethin
but then DS Davies arrives, wanting a word.   “Is it true that you argued with Tyler a few days ago?” and Gethin concedes that they had a disagreement on a family matter;
"Where were you on Friday afternoon?"
she asks about his whereabouts on Friday afternoon.
Ffion wonders how much of this is true
He says that he left early, and went to a pub on the outskirts of Tumble, he thinks it was the Red Lion.   About the only person who saw him was the barman.
"That's all, for now"
This appears to satisfy the DS, at least for the time being.
"Shouldn't be worried about anything, should I?"
“I shouldn’t be worried about anything, should I?” wonders Ffion, and Gethin insists that he did not attack Tyler,
"You suspect me, don't you?"
and was not even there.   He realises that she still suspects him,
"Have a break with me,  Geth!"
and she urges him to stop for a minute and take a break with her;  he prefers to be on his own.
Eifion is feeling very guilty
Eifion is looking very concerned by this time, and Cadno wants to know what is going on;  “You’re keeping something from me – did you see someone attacking Tyler?   Has someone told you to keep quiet?   Have they threatened you?”   Eifion stays silent.

"You can tell me anything"
“You can tell me anything, you know that – and it won’t go any further than these four walls!”
"There's nothing to say"
He is adamant that there is nothing to say, and warns her that she is stressing him out, but she knows that he is keeping something from her.
Gethin surprises Sheryl
Gethin creeps up behind Sheryl in the salon;  again she is worried that someone will see them.
"The cops have been sniffing around"
He tells her, “The cops have been sniffing around – they think that I attacked Tyler.   I had to make up a story because I was here with you, and Ffion was standing there, so I had no choice.   If anyone asks, don’t say anything.”
"I don't want to lie to the police"
She does not like the idea of lying to the police,
"We don't want people knowing about us"
but he points out they do not want people knowing about them.   She reveals that she saw Hywel and Ffion talking earlier;
"I think Ffion and Hywel already know!"
“I’ve got a feeling that they know about us,” she says, and Gethin fears that Elgan may have said something.
"We shall have to cool it!"
They think the best plan is to cool it for now.
"We've been for a walk"
Dani goes to collect Carol, and is told that she went for a walk with Garry.   He would like more notice next time, so that he could take her somewhere;
"She's been like an angel today'
Sioned interrupts that she has been like an angel today.
When Garry goes down to the cellar, Dani has a chat with Sioned;
"Don't try to take Garry from me"
“I don’t think you realise how hard and complicated things are between me and Garry.   I haven’t decided what I’m going to do – and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t try to take Garry from me.”
"The thought has never entered my head"
Sioned replies that she is not trying to do any such thing, but Dani reminds her, “We’re still married, and we have a lot of talking to do to sort things out.
"For Carol's sake, leave him alone"
“So I’d appreciate it if you didn’t make matters worse – I’m sure you don’t want to be in the middle.   So please, for Carol’s sake, leave him alone.”
